Summary: Better than average romance
Review: Amanada Quick has improved since her last book. With This Ring has a main character that for a romance is unusual. Good heavens, she is 30 and a widow. The mystery keeps you guessing and the side occupations of the heroine will make you smile. A Good Read for a spring or summer afternoon.

Summary: Captiivating romance story
Review: Amanda Quick's characters are strong and appealing. The plot is intriguing, and, fortunately, it does not employ large numbers of semi-memorable characters and mind-boggling twists of events that even fate would not be so cruel to deal out. It is a wonderful tale which incorporates mystery, ancient lore, a good dose of determination and strong will, and last but not least, true love. Be prepared to smile as you read.

Summary: Ah, finally
Review: Being a huge Amanda Quick fan, the last few years have been a bit dry. Desire, Mistress and Mystique were not nearly up to her standards. Affair was better. With This Ring finally brings the magic back. Yes, the stories are all much the same, but so what.... they're GREAT. The characters in this story are much better defined than in the last few, but I still wanted more. Again, the book was just too short. Not enough about Elf. Good, though! Goes on my Amanda Quick re-read every few years list. I'm glad the list is growing again. Too bad these books aren't available in unabridged cassettes. I would happily buy them as well.

Summary: A sad fall from the glory of her previous novels
Review: Being an avid Amanda Quick fan, I pick up each book as soon as they are released, find a quiet moment when I can read the book, then proceed to devour it. This book, once completed, was a sore disappointment. Though I like a mystery mixed in with the romance, this book focused so much on mystery it left very little to romance and practically nothing to character development. You wonder who these two characters are, and how could they possibly fall in love when there are so few sparks flying. I feel this book also echoed too many of her previous books, almost completely lacking an original story. However, since I do love her books so much, I eagerly await her next novel, hoping it will return her to her earlier glory.

Summary: Breaking her one word title tradition Amanday Quick
Review: doesn't break with her tradition for telling wonderful tales. Emma Greyson is a lady's companion by trade, a glorious free spirit by birth. She tries to conform to socity's expectations, but she doesn't always succeed. The night she's accused of murder is a little over the top, even for her. Edison Stokes comes to her rescue, assuring everyone she was with him . . . which might have been the perfect alibi if Emma wasn't wearing her nightclothes. Emma's now engaged to Stokes to save her reputation and further his investigation into a mysterious missing book. Romance, murder, and suspence roam Regency England's streets in I Thee Wed, another great read by one of my favorite authors.

Summary: Quick does it again!
Review: Don't be fooled by bland reviews, _With This Ring_ is classic Amanda Quick. Teeming with the usual mystery, romance, adventure and passion readers have grown to love, _With This Ring_ is right on par with all of Ms. Quick's earlier works. I'd even go so far as to say it has become one of my favorites by her. In Beatrice and Leo Ms. Quick has created two strong minded, mature and well rounded characters. Beatrice is lively, funny and intelligent. I really enjoyed reading about a heroine who was nearing thirty years old and who'd been wed and bed before. It was a nice, refreshing change of pace to see an older heroine who had a sensible head on her shoulders be swept away by desire. So many times romance authors inundate you with simpering beauties whose only attribute worth mentioning is their looks. Ms. Quick continually sets forth heroines who make you proud to be a woman and Beatrice does just that. Leo is exciting, sensual and has a magnetism that the reader feels right along with Beatrice. Watching him fall in love with Beatrice is a beautiful experience and when he gave her the legendary 'Mad Monk' token of love I cried. As always, the plot was engaging and full of twists and turns that kept me absorbed right from the first. Another thing I really enjoyed about _With This Ring_ is the fact that Ms. Quick alludes to a character from one of her previous books. It was nice to see a name I recognized and be able to recall another extraordinary book of her's that I'd read. Anyone who has read this book and didn't like it should give it a second read through, surely you must have missed something the first time! Anyone who hasn't read this book -- what are you waiting for? Buy it now and be prepared for a marvelous read courtesy of Amanda Quick.

Summary: It seems a little familiar
Review: First off, I enjoyed the book. . . but I have a sneaking suspicion that the author was rushed for time.

All of Amanda Quick's (AKA Jayne Anne Krentz/ Jayne Castle) books have a certain flair for humor. That is why she is one of my favorite authors no matter what her pseudonym. However reading "With This Ring" immediately after reading her nom de plume's "Orchid" I began to wonder if Jayne was writing the books in tandem. "With This Ring's" plot seems very similar to "Orchid" (albeit "Orchid" is science fiction) complete with both heroine's being horror novelists and both hero's being men of dark reputations.

Still, similarities to "Orchid" aside, "With This Ring" is a fun read with a nice change of pace of having a hero and heroine over the age of 30. If you are an Amanda Quick fan, you should enjoy the book. If you are an Amanda Quick fan who reads all of her various nom de plumes, you will most probably recognize the plot.

Summary: She's recycling again....
Review: Good book, I have to say first. But nowadays her books are all so alike.... I mean, big dark hero, smart mouthed heroine, on a mutual quest to find an artifact or killer (or both), who just happen to fall in love. *sigh* Anyway, it's really a good book. I just wish she'd pick perhaps a different time period, or put a curve on her style. Just my opinion. :-)

Summary: Good, but was disappointed!
Review: I am a huge fan of Ms Quick's, but was disappointed in this book. I felt it lack her normal flare. I had trouble picturing the Mad Monk in my mind as I read this book. The characters did not come alive for me. However, the book did have a good mystery plot, but was lacking in the romance department.

Summary: A BITTER disappointment
Review: I bought this book because I'm a long time fan of Amanda Quick's novels. I have readily shelled out the cash for them in the past but never before have I felt that my money would have been better spent on ANYTHING else!! I'm not saying that I'll never read her books again, I'm just saying that her name is no longer at the top of my favorite author list. Her heroine was incredibly annoying and I found myself just wishing they would find the stupid rings so I could get on to reading a GOOD book. If I could I wouldn't even give this book ONE star. BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME,AMANDA!!
