Review: Of the many Tom Clancy novels that I have read, this is my favorite. The plot is exciting and moves quickly. The language and violence is not as prevalent as in some of the other novels. All in all, excellent.

Summary: Great Book
Review: This is a great book. Tom Clancy scores a hit with this realistic and exciting book. It is about a CIA anylist who finds out that a Russian nuclear missile submarine, Red October, is defecting to the US. Almost the entire Soviet Navy is trying to find the Red October, but they can't. That is because it is equipped with a new type of drive system which is almost impossible to detect. Jack is flow aboard a destroyer to try and find then rondezvouse with the sub before the Russians find her and destroy her.

Summary: This is a GREAT book!
Review: This is the book that made me start reading other books by Tom Clancy. This book is sooo cool. Some people can get a little confused by all the technical terms, but other that that, it;s a fun book to read. I love the plot: A russian sub running amuk in the ocean with both the Soviets and the USA looking for it. I recommend that you read this book!

Review: When "Hunt for Red October" came out, my daughter was an AE in VP23, Maine..She tried to explain what an AE and a P3 were and why the US Navy was interested in Iceland but I did not understand until I read the book. I am very grateful to Tom Clancy for giving a non-technical mind a glimmer of what a complex system we have in place. I believe the Government was very concerned because Claney gave the correct info without asking their permission first. In my opinion he gave the average citizen in the US and probably in Russia the most clear understanding of what the true situtation was between our two countries and contributed to the early demise of the Cold War. I still find it awesome that for the last ten years, after reading each of his books, we see the some of the same incidents in the newspaper within months. Mr John Clark does exist. Scary.

Summary: Decent. Not awesome but decent.
Review: I thought that this book would be exactly like the movie. On that front i got screwed. But the whole idea is so realistic it is scary. Clancy can write this stuff so well that it is kind of wierd. If you read looking for the movie, you'll be dissapointed. Otherwise you'll love it.

Review: I liked the end of this book as everyone said it is good. I think my problem was I had seen parts of the movie, and knew basically what happened. Like I said the ending is very good, but the middle is indeed boring; I have read other books by him and this is just his way, you get used to it and keep reading cause you know its going to be good in a little bit. After reading the book I rented the movie, and this was the first time I managed to watch the whole thing. All in all it was good but I like Executive Orders best.

Review: This book is enthralling and highly addictive. Tom Clancy raised the bar with his first novel, and this is a book that nobody will ever be able to duplicate. Readers will be captivated by Clancy's ability to convey the charicter's feelings in such a manner, that readers will feel like they are actually there. Readers will actually feel the tension in the air as the story unfolds. Even if someone is not into military or government crisis stories, The Hunt for Red October is an incredible story, never to be equalled.

Review: Tom Clancy's overall plot line in The Hunt for Red October was masterful. His characters, dialogue, and descriptions were also brilliant. However, I got bogged down in reading this novel, partly due to the never-ending flow of military and other technical terms. Tom Clancy slowed down the story too much by making it overly descriptive. Otherwise, The Hunt for Red October was an astonishing and amazing book - a real treat!

The US wats her, the russians wants her back, and now the cold war gets colder then ever when both superpowers try to find it... This is one of his best novels. It doesn't cotain much character descriptions or stuff like that, but it doesn't matter, because it's still so exiting it's hard to stop reading. It's just excellent
