Summary: Captivating, but somewhat flawed.
Review: This one kept me up all night as I read it cover to cover. The obvious love Grisham has for the Brazilian wet lands and his knowledge of legal issues makes for a book that is hard to put down. But technical questions and an overly moral tone make it lose a few points in my opinion.

The technical flaws fall into a few areas, mostly due to needed ommisions to make the book work. Why our hero, outfitted with all the electronic gizmos for the remote world, does not have an inexpensive handheld GPS which would provide LOCATION information is unexplained. I suppose it would ruin some of the plots. Also the issues of the signatures on the documents is pretty inconsistent - all I can say without ruining the story..

Also, the decision to make this a morality story where religion solves the central problem seems out of place. It made me feel that Grisham is trying to sell ecology and piety which is NOT what I want in a entertainment novel.

Still the good writing, fascinating characters (good and evil) and locations make for a compelling book.

Summary: Magnificent!!!
Review: This is one of the best Grisham books I've read. The plot and story line were great and it showed two different worlds without getting boring.

Summary: The Testament by Grisham 5 stars
Review: In my experience reading books as a High School student I have found myself often going to Grisham for the finest quickest reads. He tantilizes the mind with amazing detail. I have read all of his books to date and have written lengthy papers on many of them. I have yet to be dissapointed by any of his novels. Many people think I am smarter than I am because I chose to read his novels, but I find them genuinly intriguing. I recommend this one especially. For the other avid Grisham readers this will be a welcomed change from his mainstream lawyer novels. This book is written in a different style with many more twists and turns than the others. This novel was a very quick read, I compleated it in only 8 days. Considering how truly stupid I am this says quite a bit about the book.

Summary: Suspenseful, thought-provoking with surprising ending.
Review: As is common in Grisham's novels, this book was a fast and enjoyable read. The extremes in character types creates a balance against which the reader can assess his own thoughts as to the meaning of wealth and even life itself. The book's surprise ending is another Grisham trademark.

Summary: Grisham incorporates many emotions and doesn't disappoint
Review: Except for a bit too much time in the Pantanal (I almost developed dengue), this was fast-paced, emotional and right up there with The Street Lawyer. These novels incorporate human compassion in the midst of corporate greed. Very satisfying.

Summary: Well written intrigue.
Review: This is a master piece. Though not as fast paced as The Rainmaker, this is truly one the year's best.

Summary: Another excellent creation by John Grisham!!!
Review: The Testament is an excellent novel which will keep you on edge trying to skip chapters to get to the outcome. Mr Grisham is an outstanding writer who should be appreciated for his talent.

Summary: Much fun to read!
Review: I've been reading Grisham's books since he first debuted in 1991 with The Firm. I truly enjoyed this book because it's more relaxed than the others. The Firm, The Client, A Time To Kill, and The Runaway Jury were all dark, negative and gloomy (not to mention that Grisham makes lawyers look like the pariahs they can be.), but this time, as was with his lsat book, The Street Lawyer, this book has heart - and a conscience. I'm a Christian, and I was moved by Nate's growing awareness of something being bigger than himself. I believe Grisham is growing aware of this, too. Parts of the book made me laugh out loud, especially when you read of the billionaire's ex-spouses and kids circling like buzzards after his demise. Oh, don't they though! I think you'll find this a good read, a sense of yourself, and how would you react to this much money left to you, and that there is a bottom line other than financial. Nate gained a sense of who God is, and where he is before Him. I did, too.

Summary: Different than his others
Review: I read this book after seeing Mr. G. interviewed on TV. Lots of people you love to hate and several you want to love. Starts out very strong and lures you in. Towards the end it would seem the author realized his book was getting a little long so he quickly wrapped it up by killing one of the main characters and giving the other a new life. When this becomes a movie (which it probably will) you can bet Mel Gibson or Harrison Ford will take the lead with some no-name, starkly beautiful actress. However the movie will probably spend more time developing the characters of the dysfunctional family and less time on the river swatting bugs. Generally a good read.

Summary: Great Listen!
Review: The best story that Grisham has written since "A Time to Kill". The narration is superb and the characterizations only enhanced by the audio version. A rich listening experience.
