Summary: The Testament
Review: This book is hardly recognizable as a novel written by John Grisham. I was expecting something as outstanding as The Runaway Jury or The Pelican Brief. What a disappoint from a writer as talented as Grisham. I feel one star is overly generous.

Summary: Good but not great
Review: Even though The Testament has its good points, it's not the best piece of modern fiction that I've read. You never, in my opinion, get a REAL feel for the main character, Nate O'Riley. The end was disappointing and the furture of Nate is left unclear. Is Mr. Grisham laying the foundations for a sequel? If he is, I'm not sure I'd want to buy the next installment.

Summary: Great Reading
Review: I was hooked in the first chapter and was curious to see what would happen. The characters are great and this is not your typical courtroom novel by Grisham. In fact, a large part of the novel takes place in a foreign country. If you like Grisham, this is a book you cannot miss.

Summary: Fine if you're stuck in an airport
Review: I've heard so much about Grisham books that while I was stuck in an airport for 9 hours, I bought The Testament. In my situation, the book was fine. It wasn't the worst thing I've read. The story does move quickly at first, but then it slows down to a snails pace and not much worthwhile is going on. This is not the type of book I expected. I thought Grisham books teach a little about the law while engaging the reader in a page-turning tale. I learned nothing from this one. Not what I expected.

Summary: Grisham's worst
Review: I have read a number of Grisham novels and this one is by far his worst to date. The storyline is weak and so are the characters. The ending is predictable and too many questions are left unanswered. Grisham's strong point is courtroom drama and writing more of it would serve him well. If you have not read this book don't waste your time. The only reason I gave this book 1 star is because I could not find a 0 star rating.

Review: I finished the book, so it at least gets three stars. I looked forward to reading each day, so add another one. Was it great! Nah, but I was moved by the main character accepting Christ into his life.

Summary: Good book but left questions?
Review: The first part of the book was very exciting and made you want to read more but then things got a little confusing. Like the fact that there was nothing wrong with the man and no-one ever found that out wouldn't that have had something to do with the will? I could be wrong but also the fact that it was a stated point in the book to make sure the autopsy report was made and was then never even brought up? The ending was a little disappointing also.

Review: The Testament was somewhat entertaining, but definitely not great. It was light reading, mildly entertaining, and predictable. I don't think the book deserves its popularity... it's standing on the author's name alone.
