Summary: Exceptional comming of age story, the best I have ever read
Review: This novel is the most touching comming of age story I have ever read. Reading about Dolores, the main character made me feel the emotions she has felt, and at certian points the book made me cry. After you pick up this book, you may see a whole other side in life. The only thing blocking me as to say this is my favorite book, is because after reading it I felt somewhat depressed. No one wants to be depressed, but everyone wants to read a novel that draws the reader in. Wally Lamb did an exceptional job.

Summary: A True-to-Life Psychological Journey of Healing.
Review: Her life may seem like a soap opera to some, but, to those whose lives have been touched by abuse, loss, abandonment or betrayal, Dolores is a heroineand a role-model. She struggles to heal herself despite seemingly insurrmountable odds. We are with her as she slides into mental illness. And because of Wally Lamb's emotionally honest and detailed writing we can sympathize with her deterioration. In the same way we are uplifted as she struggles with the demons and emerges triumphant, though not unscathed. I recommend this book to anyone who has been emotionally harmed and wonders how to struggle out of the abyss.

Summary: Very touching but had some weaknesses
Review: If you like emotionally-charged stories, this is the perfect novel. I read it twice, both for enjoyment and because I had to do a project on it for my English class, and I loved it. The author has the ability to make you laugh and cry and really feel sorry for the main character. However, Dolores's life was a bit unrealistic - how can anyone encounter so many problems? - and Mr. Lamb didn't really emphasize on how she lost all the weight, making it seem as though she lost over a hundred pounds without much effort. I liked the way he satirized so-called "deep" poets through his characterization of Dante. However, thinking back at the novel, I can't quite understand what amazed me so much about it. However, if while I was actually reading it, it had the ability to make me cry and ponder insights and symbolism, then I must neverthless admit that it's good literature.

Summary: Dolores is someone you know or the person you are
Review: I, like most of your reviewers read this book and couldn't put it down. It has been 2 months since I read it, and Dolores still pops into my mind. It's a truly memorable tale, one which Wally Lamb tells brilliantly.

Summary: Did not meet expectations
Review: Now that I've read it (admittedly only skimming the last 40 or so pages) I can't understand what all the hoopla was about. This book is nothing more than a soap opera with all the usual twists of fate - bad marriages, affairs, rape, death (lots of deaths, all perfectly timed). I was expecting a lot more from this book, but it's constant barrage of "incidents" left me yawning. It was like a movie where you already know beforehand how everything's going to turn out.

Summary: STOP THE SELF-PITY!
Review: Delores Price doesn't learn a thing and chooses to wallow in her self-pity. She is one of the worst representatives of the "plus-size" population I've ever read about. Grow up, Delores! Deal with it! Get a grip! (don't buy it!)

Summary: Fabulous!! You'll love it!
Review: One of my frirends who had just finished reading She's Come Undone told me to get off my butt and read it. I wasn't that enthusiastic about reading it in the beginning, but as soon as I got into it, I couldn't put it down!! I had never been so excited just to sit down and read! Now I'm the one recomending it. She's Come Undone is about life, with issues that are happening NOW. It sounds so real, and Wally Lamb is a wonderful and detailed writer. It's the kind of book you won't mind reading twice. You won't be dissapionted!

Summary: A realistic tale that brings you full circle.
Review: It is almost unbelievable that this story was written by a man. Every trial that Dolores Price experienced as a young girl and as a woman is true to heart. It could have been me Wally Lamb was writing about, or any one in my circle of friends. He has written a beautiful story almost like a dream...dreams are to work out our guilts, depressions, and longings. In his book we can see our dreams in print. We should thank him for that.

Summary: Likeable
Review: I read this on recommendadtion from a workmate who loved it. The workmate was female so it is possibly why she liked it more than I did. I finished and thought I must have missed reading some pages because I was left wondering. It was funny, sad and I guess insightful but a book of the year? I don't know about that.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: The most depressing book I have ever read
Review: How can one person's life be so horrible? It was like a soap opera with one tragedy after another. While everyone endures their own personal tragedies, this book appeared to be competing for a guiness record. The book was given to me by my niece who never finished it. Being a masochist, I did finish the book in order to have closure of the worst reading experience in my life.
