She's Come Undone

Summary: Honest, painful at times but wonderfully written !
Review: I first read this book back in 1992 and still love to read it every year or so. It reminds me that life does go on (if sometimes painfully) and that anything that has come undone can always be woven back towards wholeness. Dolores Is Great!!! Wally Lamb's writing is fabulous!!

Summary: Entwines itself in your life without preaching for change
Review: I read this over the summer and kept my mind on Dolores a lot of the time while at or work or away from the book. It speaks to the part of everyone that we know we should try to change (less TV, too fat, don't get around to quitting a bad habit, etc.) but just can't get motivated enough to go through the discomfort. We all tend to get snuggled into our problems and hug them to us, at the same time kicking out with clawed feet at it, kittens in a playfight embrace. Dolores is comfortable with her excess weight in a way, yet wants to be thin. She wants love but pushes it away. This book relays those feelings, gives us hope, but never preaches.

Review: Dolores' compulsive tendancies and desire to bury the pain that has been heaped on her most of her life, draws the reader in. I found myself talking to her in my head as I read. Wanting to reach out to her and direct her onto a path of healing. I found myself frustrated that I was mearly an observer of her life. That is how a reader should feel. Wally Lamb is able to get you involved in the story without making you aware that it is happening. I would definately recommend both this book as well as his other book, "I Know This Much is True."

Summary: A thrilling book from a great author!
Review: I found "She's Come Undone", by Wally Lamb, to be an exciting piece of literature that really captivated my interest from page one. As a teenager, that's pretty hard to find! I went on to pass my copy onto all of my friends, who enjoy it just as much as I do. I believe this book is a product of a high quality author, and I find his other work, "I Know This Much is True", to follow in "She's Come Undone"s footsteps.

Summary: This book had me laughing, crying and relating it to my life
Review: I love this book. I heard nothing about it before I read it, I was just cruising the adult fiction wall at my local bookstore and the cover caught my attention. I then preceded to pick it up and read the back cover...I feel in love with the excerpt and knew that I had to read this book. I even started to read it as I was waiting on-line to be rang up, I didn't use a bag because I couldn't put the book down. When I got home with the book I showed it to my mother, who then qusetioned my age, afraid that the issues where too mature for me(myself just turning 14). I told her not to worry and that I would give her a wrap up of the story at the end. Needless to say, I could not put the book down--I took it everywhere with me. I cried, laughed and applied the books meaning and message to my own life. Having too, dealed witht he cruel attitudes of children. It made me realize that GOD gives everyone their own time to shine and that mine was coming and not to give up. I do understand my mother's questioning of my maturity to read this book--but it has a valuable lesson if your paying attention and not reading it for laughs. I could not believe the writing of this man--he was so in touch of the womans perspective. I dont recommend it for ALL fourteen year olds but i do recommend it for everyone intelligent enough to understand the meaning that the story symbolizes.

Summary: Everyone needs to read this book!!!!
Review: I thought that this book was great for any age, sex, race and group- Dolores Price is a character that I will never forget. Sometimes I had pity for her, and other times I did'nt. The ending is so bittersweet, I was so happy for her. I noticed that the other customer reviews ranged from absolutly hating the book to death, or loving the book and raving about it for hours! Funny, but the books readers either gave She's Come Undone one star, or five stars- I give it five plus!!! Give this book a chance, I will never regret reading this! Thank you Wally Lamb!!!

Review: It's been such a long time to come across such a gem in the coming-of-age fictions. Lamb had skilfully mixed the joy and pain of growing up in adversity with such uplifting tampo... he is out to make you cry and laugh at every of his command. Undone and embrace yourslef to it.
