Summary: A Roller Coaster Ride...
Review: Wally Lamb leads the reader up and down the roller coaster with all the various emotions. At times, you pity Dolores, at times you hate her for being her. I found it very REAL. Maybe the readers who hated this book were a bit uncomfortable, because she was TOO CLOSE. I am convincd that Mr. Lamb must have had sisters while growing up. Most men don't know or care to understand many of the issues he touched upon. It's an "in your face story" that ends on an up-note, thankfully. I couldn't handle any more pain. Not a beach novel, but very real and touching . For serious readers only!

Summary: Morbidly fascinating
Review: This book held my interest in the same way a bloody wreck on the freeway holds your interest. By the end of the book, I felt that the author's sole purpose was to destroy the last vestiges of self-esteem an overweight person might have. I cherish books; my house is a testament to that fact; however, I threw this one in the trash the minute I finished reading it.

Summary: I want to reread it to relive the excitement!
Review: This book told an amazingly synical, and interesting story about a brave and amusing character. I want to read it over and over to relive the feelings i felt while reading this book. I practically stayed up all night to get to the end.

Summary: Television knobs and whales
Review: Tactile imagery is what caught my attention. Pain is what kept me reading. The will to survive is what got me through the last chapter. And, hope is what I felt when I closed the book for the last time. She did come undone. And, many women do. Before Oprah noticed this lonely, vulnerable, artistic, yet love-able character....I felt part of her sisterhood. For men, it may give an inside look at the "fatty's" they make fun of in school, and, for women, it proves that coming undone is not the last straw. My advice? Read it....but, in one sitting, or you'll be miserable and elated along with her. You'll come undone....

Summary: This Book is Truly Wonderful
Review: She's Come Undone was by far my favorite book that i have read yet! I love it! I bought this book after my friend told me that she had read it 3 times already, so I decided that I would just have to try it! I ordered it off of Amazon and read it in about a week and a half! It was amazing it chronicles the tuff times of one girls life! It goes from when she was born to when she is a complete grown-up! It brings her through her horrible days as being a young girl to her horrible days being a college girl! This one is definitly worth the read!!!!

Summary: A man's outstanding account of a woman's darkest side
Review: As I read this book, I found myself checking the inside of the back cover periodically. At first, it was to ascertain that the author was indeed a man. Subsequently, I checked only to stare at the author's picture. Sometimes bewildered, sometimes doubtful, sometimes scared, and sometimes in awe, I began to wonder about the kind of life this man has lived. Does he have a lot of sisters? Perhaps he has had many marriages. Maybe Mr. Lamb has or had a wonderful relationship with his mother. However, none of these explanations satisfied me. I know men who fit into one or more or all of these categories, and none of them have the keen insight or the uncanny ability to explore and explain the mind of a woman as Mr. Lamb does in She's Come Undone. Dolores' life can only be compared to riding a multi-loop rollercoaster while having a cavity drilled. But, as scary and painful as it was to experience, it was impossible to put the book down. Mr. Lamb created a hauntingly realistic character. I often found myself sighing aloud with her in frustration, shedding tears with her, cheering for her, angry with her, and proud of her. Her craziness, her foul-mouth, her mistakes, and her weaknesses could not hide the fact that she is just one of us. She is a woman. Confused, hurt, and lost, she is not by any means the typical woman; yet I don't think there is a woman alive who can say she has never experienced at least one aspect of the torment, humiliation, insecurity, failure, loss, and the triumph that Delores has. The fact that we can identify with her is because we've "been there" in some respect. The fact that Mr. Lamb created her leaves me dumbfounded, but definitely wanting more. Read this book. I've already oredered his next.

Summary: This book had so much insight on how a woman feels.
Review: This first novel by author Wally Lamb was on of the best novels I have ever read. This book about the life of a sometimes overweight girl named Dolores was painful at times, happy at other times and overall generally wonderful at all times. Dolores is a character that I found myself thinking about all day long. I think all women can relate to some of Dolores's prediciments. I felt that she was truly a wonderful person. Someone that you will be ruting for through the entire book. A truly wonderful read for all women and a it is also is a great book for men to learn how women want to be loved and treated.

Summary: The Coming of Age Story for All
Review: For anyone who has ever felt like they haven't fit in, had relationship problems, or has undergone adolecence; this is a story you can relate too. This is not just a story of an obease girl finding herself, it's about finding who each one of us is. I feel that women would partticularly identify with the main character, as she undergoes issues of self, settling in realtionships, and how we are shaped by society. The novel also reveals the true path to happiness of self love. All in all a riveting, thought provoking, and wonderous piece of work. I highly recomend this book to anyone who has ever felt the pain of growing up.

Summary: Very real; fascinating
Review: This book kept me turning the pages. As a teen, I understood where Dolores was coming from. I felt as if I had gone through the same experiences without having to endure them. The author writes very well, and you forget that he is, infact, a man. The book brings you through a parade of emotions; from laughter to tears to pondering and then back to laughter and tears, all in one chapter.
