Summary: a true celebration of the human spirit
Review: Many people believe the book to be depressing. Life for many is depressing, but I believe this book to be a celebration of growth. The main character is one we've all met. Hard on the outside and trying to get ok with life on the inside. The people she meets and the events that surround her do not have to be viewed as tragic. They can be viewed as simple twists of fate that challenge everyone of us daily. How we choose to face the challenges makes them tragic or truthful. I found the ending to be the metephor for Dolores's life. I read THIS MUCH I KNOW IS TRUE first. Both are brilliant, believeable and interestingly written. In the vein of John Irving and Pat Conroy.

Summary: Excellent!!
Review: I really enjoyed the book. I keep seeing comments that say it was too depressing or disgusting, but guess what!-reality isn't always pretty!! If all books were a Cinderella story that ended with the characters walking into the sunset, I would be bored stiff!! Open your minds!

Summary: Wally Lamb is the greatest author
Review: To me I think Wally Lamb can make a great page turner. I have read "I know this much is true" before "She's come undone" And I fell in love with his writing technique. I noticed simularites in both novels. I hope he writes another novel soon. Thanks Wally!

Summary: After reading his new one, I wanted to read this one
Review: I'll never look at overweight(I used to say fat) people in the same light. The same for Gays. I actualley got chocked up once or twice.

Summary: A good read, but emotionally tiring.
Review: Poor Delores. So much hate and hurt in that young woman. Enough to manipulate the emotions of the reader as well. The book starts off strong and wimpers in the end, contrary to what happens within Delores. The book leaves the reader frustrated with Delores' uphill battle that she mostly imposes on herself. The author really dropped the ball on the ending.

Summary: Very good read...
Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. Alot of complaints about this story was that the main character's situation was so depressing. I didn't find it depressing at all. As I read the book, I continued to root for her to succeed and find the happiness she sought. I enjoyed the way the character fumbled her way thru life, taking MANY wrong (sometimes disasterous) turns but eventually turning herself in the right direction. Lamb also did a great job writing this from a female perspective. I was impressed.

Summary: This is one book that you won't forget.
Review: This book hits close to home for every woman. This author's ability to accurately describe the feelings we all feel, is uncanny. We can all identify with the main character at sometime in our lives. From the scared little girl, to the unsure woman, she is us, and we are her. This is one book you won't be able to put down!

Summary: My expectations were too high and therefore unmet.
Review: This was the first of the Oprah's Book Club titles that I chose to read. The story had the potential for greatness, but the story teller dropped the ball. Depressing and lacking that "can't put it down feeling." I read long novels in a matter of hours, I am glad that this one was short and took little of my time. ON to bigger and better tales!

Summary: Read This Book
Review: Everyone who doesn't like this book seems to be offended by its depressiveness or offensiveness or something. If you think life is a romp in the flowers then don't read this book.

If, however, you are mature enough to read a book that actually has some unpleasant and uncomfortable elements in it, then you will LOVE She's Come Undone, because it also has funny, insightful, and wonderfully uplifting moments. When I finished the book I felt truly satisfied. Dolores redeems herself and my faith in humanity. This is a beautiful book.

And don't blather about "wasting my money on this trash." Check it out of the library.

Summary: It's My Favorite!
Review: It's one of those books I can keep re-reading and still be annoyed if someone interupts me! It made me realize things about myself and my own world that I may never have seen before. Though I thought it was trashy at first, I loved it by the end.
