Rating: Summary: A book well worth reading Review: I enjoyed this book very much. Any one who has ever had anything bad happen to them can relate to Dolores. Lamb shows how much of a tough life she has by following the main character from childhood through adulthood. As you read how she overcomes these obstacles, you feel a hope for her to succeed. It is also truly amazing how the author writes the thoughts and feelings of a woman so well. This is definately a book that you do not want to see end!
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully written Review: This book was wonderfully written. While I don't identify with Delores, I empathized with her. This book is not good for people who get offended easily. It should also come with a warning that it has sexual content which some may find distasteful (I did).
Rating: Summary: Profoundly touched and moved Review: Of all the novels I've read in my lifetime, this one was by far the most captivating and inspiring. It has made me want to be a better person and make the most out of life. Delores Price is someone to identify with and learn from. I want to personally thank Wally Lamb for writing this beautiful story. And if Delores wasn't fictional (which in a way, I feel she isn't) I would thank her also. I can't wait to read "I Know This Much is True" !
Rating: Summary: I came undone after reading this book Review: She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb changed my life. I read this book because it was a Oprah's Book Club book, and the cover art looked interesting. I picked it up and didn't put it down until I was finished. I now read it once a month and have recommended it to friends, teachers, and parents a like. This book has changed my life. The writing is engaging, the plot grips you from the first word until the last sentence. Dolores Price takes you on her ride of sarcasm, pain, and breakdown. It wasn't the typical book of the "perfect" girl. But of a fat girl with a bad past who ends up happy.
Rating: Summary: Oprah's come undone Review: I laughed (at the idea that this was a good book). I cried (over the time and money wasted on this garbage). I hurled (over every facet of this book). The story and the characters were stupid and offensive. Let's see, the lead character is fat, therefore she must be a dysfunctional, messed-up, whiny compulsive eater. God forbid a woman of size be shown as intelligent and emotionally secure. Wally Lamb's writing and storytelling is awful. I will never read anything he writes again, and I will doubt Oprah's recommendations.
Rating: Summary: My favorite book of all time! Review: I loved this book. Wally Lamb is such a good writer. I picked this book up because it was in Oprah's Book Club, I read everything she reccomends. I couldn't put this book down, I felt just like Delores Price, I cried with her, and laughed...I felt her tragedy. I read this book all through the nite and it was certainly worth it. I passed it on to all my friends(making sure my name was nice and big in the front cover! ) I am now reading "I know this much is true"..I can't wait to finish and write an awesome review. This book will be my favorite forever!
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully written! Review: The book She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb is one of the most wonderful books I have ever read. The life of the characters feel so real. They were faced with real life problems, and showed the reader a way to deal with them appropriately. This book has enhanced my spiritual self-being through all the glorifying, as well as depressing sequences of this young girl's life into woman-hood.
Rating: Summary: She's perfectly done! Review: Dolores Price is like a sister to me. We are the same age and have had some of the same traumas in our lives. Beautifully written. I just want to give Dolores a hug and to say Right on, Sister! Wally Lamb made her a living breathing person to me. Immensely enjoyable. If you have ever been the underdog, you will enjoy this book!
Rating: Summary: The book makes you realize that your life isn't that bad! Review: 2/3 of this book are slow. But, while it's slow and really sad, the book is engaging and forces you to pray for Dolores Price: hoping she'll eventually be happy, somehow, in someway. And certainly, the ending of the book provided plenty of that. I'd say I truly enjoyed it.
Rating: Summary: A must read....and re-read and re-read. Truly wonderful. Review: I found "She's Come Undone" to be an emotinal roller coaster for the character and myself, the reader. I found myself angry at Dolores, and pitying her, and wishing to console her. "She's Come Undone" is a book in which the reader is invited to laugh and cry. I understood Dolores' feelings when her father left, I understood her reasons for finding Dante. The ending was bittersweet because it ended an adventure I shared with such a well-developed character.
