Summary: A Triumph
Review: I just finished this novel tonight. It was so empowering to me.. This book is the story of Dolores Price, it begins in her childhood and ends when she is in her 30's. It deals w/ a number of topics such as divorce, rape, obesity, AIDS, death, bad relationships & surviving. There is something for everyone in this book. I laughed & cryed while reading it. I hated Dolores & I loved her. I cann't belive a man could write so profondly about a women. I have never experienced anything like Dolores in my lifetime, but she helped me understand just what it must feel like to be in these situations. She is truely an amazing character whom I will not soon forget. I also felt for the charactes of Mr. Punnic( guidance counselor), Grandma & Roberta(neighboor). Although Dolores goes through a number of unbearable crisis, she also has a number of characters who truely love & support her. They are strong where she is weak even though she may not know it. Dante is a character to beware of, many women could probably relate to this relationship. I could keep writting forver, this novel made me feel so mant things. Wally Lamb is pure genius & I cannot wait to read more from him. A truely inspiring story that makes me feel I can overcome anything that comes my way.

Summary: how everyone falls apart
Review: This is a revolutionary book. I read it when i was 13 (i'm now 15) and i remember loving it. The people in my mothers book club told her i was too young to read it, but i think it was better i read it so young. I just recently re-read it and found new depth and meaning. The trials she endures are uncountable, but still the heroine survives. Every girl should read this, no matter what age. I would recommend handing it to your teenagers, it could change thier lives as it did mine. i loved this book and hope you will too.

But now since I have finished this book, all others books i pick up ready to read seems to fail in comparison to She's Come Undone. I only hope I can find another book like this one.

Summary: First Rate
Review: This book successfully captures the baby boomers' coming of age, as well as one woman's unique with her weight, her family and her sense of worth. I could say a thousand more things about this book, but I am sure most reviewers here at amazon have already aired similar sentiments. This book was my big find of late 1999.

From the great first paragraph, to the end of the book, Dolores Price's life and tribulations amuse, horrify, depress, move and ultimately enlighten us. (And it never bores us). I read this book on a whim. I rarely watch Oprah, but was curious as to the huge response this book received when it was chosen as her first book of the month. For the next week, I was completely hooked. And yes I, like so many others, was very surprised that a book written by a man about a woman could be this realistic and this authentic. Another admirable feature of this book is that lamb does not allow Delores to grow whiny and complaining. She presents her life as it happened to her, and she does not spare even herself when she talks about the down and the dirty aspects of her life. In the end, we realize that Delores is a remarkable person, not because she has done anything special, or become a hero to millions (she hasn't) but because we identify with her and realize that every person has their own story to tell. It sounds corny to say that, but you'll understand once you read this (and I hope you will).

Summary: She's Come Undone
Review: She's Come Undone, by Wally Lamb is a tragic comedy and the story of the life of Dolores Price. Dolores is forced to go through just about everything awful imaginable. The novel explores Dolores's life from her unpleasant childhood in the late fifties and early sixties, to her painful adulthood. Life is just beginning to become cruel, when Dolores's family falls apart. Her father is cruel and abusive and her mother is always on the verge of insanity. Her mother dies when Dolores is a teenager. Things get worse when Dolores is raped at thirteen. The loss of innocence and the traumatic experience affects relationships that she has later on. After every thing horrible sh goes through, a dying friend inspirers her to give herself one more chance. She helps herself undo all of the pain that she was forced to live through and builds herself a better future. She finally learns to except love again, and after time, she finds happiness. One would suspect, that the author's purpose for writing this novel is to entertain and to teach anyone who might be becoming desperate and losing hope, that they can make it. She's Come Undone is a novel about love, pain, and rebirth. It is an extremely touching novel that is impossible to put down. You will find yourself sympathizing for Dolores as if you know her. This book is recommended to anyone who enjoys a heart-warming with a little humor, but at the same time doesn't mind shedding a tear or two.

Summary: Dysfunctional Epic
Review: I found this book a bit too "cinematic" at times, with such a panorama of characters and details from so many decades that I could almost hear the soundtrack. The only other shortcoming I found was the rather unbelievable series of unfortunate circumstances that the main character finds herself in, to the point where it's getting quite absurd. But on the plus side? I could not, I repeat, could not put this book down until I finished it!

Summary: An impressive debut
Review: This author is a chameleon. You, the reader, are given the opportunity to slip inside the head of this rather tragic, dysfunctional heroine and view life through her eyes. Lamb's got a real knack for easy-to-read prose, and that shines through here as well. My only area of concern is that it seemed entirely too easy for her to lose the weight, but maybe that's just me. I am quite glad I read this one, and odds are you will be too.

Summary: Heart warming....
Review: This is a fantastic book to read. It follows a life of a character name Dolores Price from childhood to adulthood. You will follow her traumas through her life wondering when she will find love and happiness. The ending is heartwarming that makes you want to cry. Read this book and you will find a book that has touched your heart. I would recommend this book to anyone to read.

Summary: One of the Best Books I Have Ever Read
Review: This was my first purchase recommended by Oprah and I am so glad I read it. The entire time I was reading it, I kept forgetting it was written by a man. Wally Lamb had such insight into the character of Delores, you would swear it was written by a woman. The agony of this girl was almost more than I could bear, my pain coming out in her words. It was a moving, realistic look at how women feel and what some of us have had to endure to become stronger. I could never recommend this novel highly enough!
