Summary: If this is the ONLY book in the bookstore... OK...
Review: It was a disappointment for me. After all the reviews I had read and everything I had come to expect from this book, it let me down. It was a book that I couldnt leave until I finished it, but it was WAY too long! It took me longer than many other books I've read to finish it. It is not enjoyable. If anything it is a depressing story. The main character Dolores lives through so much catastrophe that by the end of the book you start saying "oh, no not a-gain!..." It was interesting only in the respect that it was written by a male writer.

In short, if you are left to choose... this shouldn't be the one you pick... If you don't have a choice and you have a lot of time on your hands.. well then ok... you should read it.

Summary: Wonderful, especially from a male author!
Review: I don't think any other male author has gotten inside the brain and body of a woman as well. I am not yet finished with the book, but what I have read so far is terrific! I don't care much for the main character, Dolores, but that's what keeps me drawn to the book. A must-have for any woman's bookshelf.

Summary: You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll love it!
Review: Readers of this book will wonder how first-time novelist Wally Lamb managed to do such an amazing job of writing in the voice of a woman.

Dolores Price is a character that will stay with you forever. Dolores learns at an early age that television and junk food are more nurturing than most of the adults in her life. Beginning with her parents divorce while she is still quite young, Dolores copes with a series of tragic events by binging in front of the TV. By the time she enters college, she weighs over 260 pounds and is suicidal. She decides to end it all by driving to Cape Cod to commune with a beached whale that is dying there. Throughout her pain, Dolores keeps a wisecracking sense of humor that keeps the novel from getting too depressing. You will laugh and cry along with this lovable, unforgettable character as she finds her place in the world.

Summary: I can't believe a man wrote this book!
Review: He captured the feelings of this young woman in such a way that I couldn't believe it was a male author. The character of Dolores makes you want to cry and laugh at the same time - you feel sorry for her and keep hoping that she makes it in the end. I think all of us can relate to her on some level and that's what makes the book so captivating.

Summary: She's come undone
Review: The story is very well written. It tells of a young women dealing with all that life has to throw at her. She deals with a father who left and mother who can't deal.

Summary: Just OK.
Review: With all I'd heard about this book I figured I'd have to read it. In the end, it felt like any number of those things we plodded through in high school. It has some literary merit. I guess I'm glad I read it. But in the end it's not something I'd read again or recommend to friends.

Summary: She's Come Undone
Review: This book should be considered mandatory reading. Whether you loved Delores or hated her, you could definately relate to her. In this book, she goes through every imaginable tradjedy. From being raped, to being abondoned, to suicide, this novel touches on every "risky" subject. She's Come Undone follows the main character, Delores, through her life ages four to forty. The writer Wally Lamb writes convincingly as a woman, making you cry when Dolores is in pain, and laugh when she triumphs. It doesn't matter if you've ever been through these things; when you're done reading you'll feel like you have. The ending is perfect. Dolores finds what she needs from life, but it's not exactly a fairy tale. I think everyone should read this novel; they'll never feel the same after.

Summary: One of the Best Books EVER!!
Review: I took this book to read on a vacation to Las Vegas and ended up spending the majority of my vacation reading because I could not put the book down. I found the plot to be completely engrossing, each twist more interesting than the next. There are just now words to describe how awesome this book was other than READ IT !!

Summary: Should Be Mandatory Reading
Review: Coming away from this book I have to say, anyone who doesn't read this book is doing themself a great disservice. Whether you fell sorry for Dolores or want to punch her in her face, you won't feel indifferent and isn't that the whole point of reading? To have emotions expeled by characters that, on paper, teach you something about yorself you never knew? If I could have it so, Dolores would be my best friend. The point of the book I actually cried for Dolores was when she was at the bar-b-que and she sat down, and she said "I hadn't ment to grunt." I wish I could have walked up to her then and started talking about hair and her mint shampoo and begin to turn Kippy back into a mesely human instead of the God Dolores had built her up to be out of fear. I love this book so much that I have come to the point where I don't even read it srtaight forward anymore, I just open to a page and read. I also think Lamb does the reader a favor by the ambigious ending, allowing me to pretend she is pergnant... with twins!

Summary: You're missing out if you don't read it
Review: This book is just incredible. You will not believe what you're reading as you go from page to page of this wonderful novel. It will intrigue you and inspire you. It's a real page-turner, you will be glad you read it and sad that you finished it so quickly.
