Summary: I'm Undone By This Amazing Novel
Review: I have been looking at this book for quite a few number of years, and suffice to say, I have no clue as to why it took me so long to pick it up. Several friends of mine had read it and just raved about how excellent it was, and now that I have just finished reading it, I can see their reasons why. This is definetly one of the best novels I have read in a looong time, and I will recommend it to others who love reading as much as I do. While I can understand why some people found it depressing, I was nevertheless riveted the whole way through Dolores' sad, but ultimately uplifting journey. Wally Lamb has an incredible insight into the way some women think and tackle their problems; whether they deal with obesity, rape, callous husbands, or the overall cruelty of others' opinions. I am in agreement with other readers in the fact that Mr. Lamb convincingly tells Dolores' tale from a female perspective...his dialogue and characterizations of her many friends, foes, and relatives were all very three dimensional too. What I found most remarkable about this wonderful book was that no matter how bad the situation Dolores was faced with, she discovered inner strength to overcome her problems and become a better, loving person. By the end of the story, she convinced herself that she was truly worthy of love and accepted it when it was offered. In a nutshell, this novel is ultimately about human emotional survival and whether a person chooses to remain a victim or rise above it. I will definetly pick up Lamb's next book, "I Know This Much Is True"-and I am hoping it will be just as good, if not better, than this one was. I have the feeling I have just "discovered" a new favorite writer, and hopefully he is hard at work on his next offering. I for one can't wait!! :-)

Summary: Excellent Read
Review: This was my first "Oprah Book Club" read and it truly was an excellent book. The humor mixed with the seriousness of her emotions made for quite an adventure. I recommend it.

Summary: OUTSTANDING
Review: I absolutely loved this book. I read it before it made "the book club". Wally Lamb really knows how to speak from a woman's point of view. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading I Know This Much Is True.

Summary: Imagine being somebody's shadow for 500 pages
Review: I decided to write this review after finishing "She's Come Undone" for the third time. This book is amazingly written, in no other book have I had such a love/hate relationship with any character. You pity Dolores as she enters womanhood to her mother's objection, yet hate her as she turns to the arms of gluttony as a panacea to her problems. It is a relationship where you understand where she is coming from at some points, but other times want to reach into the book and point her in the right direction. I will probably be reading this again, unlike the many other books that crowd my shelves.

Summary: I Love This Book
Review: This book is one of my favorites. I first read it 4 years ago and just read it again this summer...it was just as wonderful this time around. Wally Lamb pulls you in with his story of Dolores Price, a tormented soul with a life so twisted at times it makes you want to cry for her. He does an excellent job writing the woman that we all at some time in our lives can relate to. Great book....buy it, read it, love it.

Summary: Nothing Special
Review: Definitely one of the most overrated books I've ever read. Not a bad book, really, but I expected it to be a lighhearted story about a teenage girl coping with her family and her obesity. That's how it seems to be advertised, anyway. While I liked Dolores, she didn't come across as a lovable and unforgettable character. And I felt I didn't really get to know the other characters that well. Also, situations in the story just seem to happen out of the blue, and are over before I understood what was happening to Dolores. I had to re-read certain parts a couple of times to figure out what was happening. It does get more interesting towards the end, but not much more interesting. All in all, it's an okay book, but not the memorable pageturner I expected.

Summary: Wally Lamb
Review: She's Come Undone is not a book of pulse racing events that keep you glued and interested. It's more Wally Lamb's writing style that faciliatates the smooth forward motion of the story. It's also Dolores Price, the main character, and her life's events. I just completed the book and am still wondering what the whales in the story symbolized. I'm still thinking about it and I'm sure I'll come up with it. Overall, I enjoyed the book. I also read "This Much I Know Is True" and also enjoyed that one. I wonder what Wally Lamb's connection is to mental illness a s both stories relate to it.

Summary: Life-Changing
Review: My first read of Wally Lamb and he had me spellbound for sure. Delores Price is someone I will never forget and it took me a week to get over the trauma I felt in reading about her. I took this book on vacation and found myself reading every spare moment to find out what would happen next. It was heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time. There were times I wanted to shake her and times I just wanted to hug her. One thing is for sure - Delores will always remain in your heart and mind.

Summary: Halarious?
Review: I have read so many reviews of this book stating how halarious it is.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?

Summary: A must read!!!
Review: I couldn't put this book down!!!! As soon as I started it I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. You would think that a book dealing with the issues such as obesity and the death of a loved one would bring you down but it had the exact opposite effect. I was amazed at how wonderfully Wally Lamb, a man, could really nail life through a young woman's eyes. As I read I winced and laughed and hoped for things to turn out for Delores. This is a story about strength and courage and hope that no matter what has happened to you in life you can still overcome adversity and come out on top.
