Summary: Simply one of the best books i have ever read.
Review: this book was extrodinary...i am only 15 years old and i foundit extremely intresting. i could not put it down for a second. i guessthat is why i read it in a couple days...and normally i am a very slow reader. this book was real, unreal, magickal, comical, upsetting, entertaining, and exciting all rolled into one. i would reccomend this book to anyone who could read. there should be a movie. congrats to wally lamb!! i sincerely loved your book. i can think of dolores as a sister, friend, enemy and lunatic. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.....bravo.

Summary: OPRAH IS EASILY IMPRESSED.
Review: I saw Oprah's show with this author. It seemed like she wasmost impressed by the fact that the author was a man, writing in"the voice" of a woman. Big deal! Does that make it a good book?! As someone who has struggled with a weight problem since childhood, I was shocked at the main character's method of losing weight in the mental home. I know it's only a novel, but I have never met a woman who lost weight by imagining mold growing on her food. Only a man would write something so ridiculous. Mr. Lamb, if only it were that easy! For all my problems with this book, I must say that I could not put it down, probably because it read like a young adult novel.

Summary: What was I looking for?
Review: The cover caught my eye - I love the song "She's come undone" -but I really didn't expect the book to be so depressing...whileDolores did pick herself up and out of her misery and woe, I just couldn't help but wonder if people really do think fat people feel this way? I am overwieght and I am happy and confident - it seemed to be saying that the fatness was to compensate for the pain and I just don't agree with that.. now I have a picture of every thin person that read this book to look at fat people and think "gee, what awful thing is she covering up..." Wally Lamb just let the "fatness" go to far....but except for that it was a good book and a good read and I even let my daughter read it...

Summary: This is one of the best written books that I have ever read.
Review: I actually stayed home from work to finish this book. Once youstart to read it, you can not believe that a man wrote this. This bookis filled with all the things that kids, young women and adults go through. You not want to put this book down and when you finish you will feel alot better about your life. It will make you laugh, cry, and scream. Both most importantly, it will make you feel and it will improve your life in just a small way.

Summary: Coming of age in the 60's was never like this!
Review: Those of us who came of age in the 60's can identify with the heroine of this book. I could not put it down even though at times it was so depressing...how could one person have so many bad things happen in her life? But the characters were so beautifully developed that I found myself turning the pages quickly in search of answers with them. The insight of the writer into the complexities of female emotions was truly remarkable and I identified many times with the situations and feelings that tagged along behind. Truly a good read for female baby boomers

Summary: Sleep Specialist Needed
Review: I spent two sleepless nights this weekend trying to put thisbook down. My friends tried to entice me away from the couch withpromises of handsome men and decadent hot fudge sundaes, but I could not get up. I was rooted to my seat, holding my yellow highlighter like a beacon, reading what seemed to be my life story and the story of all the women I know...though none of them are named Dolores. When I was finally able to close the cover and put the cap on my highlighter (I think all the ink is gone) my friends wanted to read the book that could tear me away from a weekend of fun. Unfortunately for them, they will have to buy their own copies because this one remains permanantly attached to my person, hanging around my neck just in case I need to read a specific passage. I have been known to snarl at anyone that tries to touch it, and heaven help the person that actually attempts to remove it. I wonder if I could have it outfitted with an alarm system....?

Review: Don't you find yourself asking that question if you've read this book? She's a touchable character that many can relate to. I really enjoyed this book--even ordered it for friends and my mom

Summary: THIS IS A MUST READ
Review: After the first 2 pages I was hooked. Never had I read a bookwritten by a man when the main character is a woman. Lamb wrote withsuch a great understanding of the female psyche it was almost scary. The events that take place in Delores' life are both tragic and funny. I laughed and cried my way through this book, reread it, and passed it on to my friend, who passed it on to both my mother and her mother. A must read for any woman whoever thought she is less than she really is.
