Summary: A book about life and its regular rhythms, both good and bad
Review: I couldn't put this book down. Dolores, the main
character disgusted me and moved
me as she dealt with an unkind life. From
a sweet, happy-childlife cheated child to
an unlovable, demanding fat girl and
finally to a scarred but mostly healed woman, Dolores' journey was fascinating. Wally Lamb didn't glamorize life or love. He didn't
turn the unlikable characters into
one-dimensional bad guys. They are
complex, rich people.
The message I got is life is complicated yet
ordinary in that like Dolores, we all suffer from
neurosis, doubts and fears. Dolores' life in
the end becomes mostly peaceful and
happy because she accepts herself, faults
and all, and lets herself be loved.
It was a very sweet book.

Review: READING THIS BOOK MADE ME UNCOMFORATABLE ONLY BECAUSE I SAW SO MUCH OF MYSELF IN DOLORES. WALLY LAMB WAS ABLE TO WRITE ABOUT A WOMAN'S LIFE AND EMOTIONS WITH SUCH DEPTH THAT I FORGOT THE BOOK WAS WRITTEN BY A MAN ALMOST IMMEDIATELY.

Review: I have two pages left, but I'm afraid something horrible will happen to Delores on the last one. The book has been incredibly difficult to read because I feel so much for her, but I have loved it all the way. Delores is as memorable as Holden Caulfield.

I THINK THAT OFTEN WE JUDGE PEOPLE TO MUCH BY THE WAY THEY LOOK AND FORGET THE CONTENT OF THIER CHARACTER!!!!!THIS BOOK TO ME WAS A WAKE UP CALLTO THE WORLD SAYING THAT ALL PEOPLES FEELINGS AND NEEDS SHOULD BE TREATED THE SAME. DURING SOME PARTS OF THE BOOK I FELTLIKE I WAS FEELING LIFE TROUGH HER EYES. I COULD NOT IMAGINE GOING THROUGH ALL OF HER STRUGGLES, JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT SHE WOULD PICK UP ALL OF THE JAGGED PIECES IT WOULD ALL FALL APART AGAIN.THE PART THAT INTERESTED ME THE MOST WAS WHEN DOLORES WAS SWIMMING WITH THE WHALE.
