Summary: Entertaining!
Review: I thought the book was very entertaining. Those people who did not enjoy the book perhaps did not like the feelings that arose while reading the book. This book was for entertainment purposes only. It wasn't supposed to change the world or be liked by everyone. I will never forget Delores Price. It doesn't matter if Oprah recommended the book; she is so rich and famous she can do whatever she wants. Now, Mr. Lamb is rich and famous for writing such an enjoyable book to read. Isn't this an example of which America was founded!

Summary: Thank you very much, mister Lamb!
Review: I wonder if the author ever browses among these pages. If he does, I would like to thank him personnaly for this truly wonderfull book, a must read for everyone who wants some good guidance in his search for the real person that one might become. The story of Dolores Price made me discover things in myself I never knew about. It's so psychologically revealing, so tragic and yet so hilarious. Wally Lamb has even succeeded in melting down al the big and often controversial issues of our time: rape, abortion, divorce, lesbianism, anticlericanism, AIDS, you name it...Dolores got it. The book is written in a very contemporary American language, modern, clear and inventive. Never a dull moment! Guaranteed!!! The book made such an enormous impression on me, that I will never forget the name of Wally Lamb and I'm honestly looking forward for his next book. SHE'S COME UNDONE is a book that should be on everyone's bookshelf, not just to read but to reread and reread...Take my advise, you won't regret it ever.

Summary: Give it a chance
Review: I have read the book along with the majority of the reviews. First, I am surprised that everyone is so astonished that a man wrote the book. He did a great job of conveying HUMAN emotions. Feelings can't be categorized as male or female. Secondly, everyone who gave bad ratings say that the book was too unbelievable. If you feel that way, read nonfiction. The reader must understand that Dolores was a broken individual who overcame, and she did so in a realistic way.

Summary: Enjoyable
Review: As I read many of the past reviews, I think many of the people were very harsh on the book. It is a good read. Dolores is not always a likeable, or believeable, character but why should she be? I applaud Lamb for writing a book about a female character that deals with so many personal issues. To all of those that didn't like the book and couldn't believe they finished it, I have one question why did you? Not every book is loved by everyone. It may not be intellectually stimulating or psychologically accurate, but I liked the book for what it is- a good, quick read that takes you away from your own problems for awhile.

Summary: Sad, but worth the tears!
Review: Well, Oprah has done it again. She picked a terrific book to depress us all. Doesn't it seem like everything she selects is meant to give tear ducts a workout? Anyway, I really enjoyed this, and am shocked that a man could write so well from a womans point of view. A wonderful truimph!

Summary: waves of brilliance
Review: an excellent book that denies being put down. though dolores often makes one want to scream out loud with frustration, it is lamb's vivid portrayal of this exact frustration that makes the book so stellar. not for the squeamish, SHE'S COME UNDONE is full of episodes that leave one breathless. fear not, however, because it ends on an upbeat and leaves one longing for more of dolores' tidal story.

Summary: I finished it and I don't know why I bothered...
Review: This book was a parody of the politically correct. We have a girl who is victimized as a child and therefore we are expected to sympathize and understand when she becomes the victimizer. She fluctuates between being a doormat and a feisty self-protector. She gains gobs of weight and we are supposed to sympathize with her voracious appetite for Twinkies and television. She is hateful to her mother which is excusable because her mother was sleeping with the handsome upstairs neighbor, the same man that the girl secretly loves. The same man rapes her and surely she is completely innocent. The mother is then relegated to sainthood when she is mowed down by a truck. The girl goes to college, has a cruel room-mate, a lesbian encounter with the dorm maid and then murders her partner's pets because, again, she is a victim. Again, we are supposed to understand and sympathize. There is a happy ending when she becomes devastated by the AIDS deaths of her gay friends and marries a man with a child from a former marriage who is half African-American. This child is the only likeable character in the book and if the book had continued for a few more chapters, we could expect him to jump in front of a truck himself to escape the ridiculous adults that surround him. If the author were trying to hit every politically correct topic available, he did an admirable job. As a woman, I would have been insulted by the author's treatment of women in general, had I been inclined to take it seriously. Someone needs to tell the man that wrote this book that not all women are victims and some actually lead productive lives and manage to make reasonable decisions. This has to be the most ridiculous book I have ever read and I can't BELIEVE I was silly enough to finish it.

Summary: Pretty tough!
Review: I read this book in about 3 days - and found it for the most part to be really enjoyable, rather painful, and quite funny. So sad, too. The imagery was quite good - e.g. Dolores shutting herself in the bathroom when a young child and sipping Mylanta to eleviate her nervous stomach. I did feel the way she meets ("hunts down"?) her first husband is pretty far-fetched and eerie. All in all, though, it was what it should have been - good entertainment and a good read. Not every book has to be a Pulitzer, people.

Summary: she's come undone review
Review: Really enjoyed this book. The author really put alot of thought into this. There was really never a dull moment. I could not put it down. I am waiting for his next book

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: What is he thinking?
Review: I admit that I read every word...mainly because I was waiting for something redeeming to happen. It never did. Reading other readers comments helps me understand why the genre of American authors is so dismal. They have an audience.
