She's Come Undone

Summary: It ripped scabs off of old wounds.
Review: I was a fat child and fat teen. This book brought back all the horror, pain and alienation of being different, of not being socially acceptable. Though my life has been considerably happier (thankfully) than Dolores', we traveled many of the same emotional paths. I couldn't put the book down. I cried through much of it. How Mr. Lamb could know all the interwoven emotions of a girl overcoming these problems is beyond me. Cudos to Wally Lamb.

Review: I've read many books, but this one stands out. It was such a touching book. The characters are so lifelike that I often found myself laughing or crying along with them.

Review: The book was the best book i have ever read volunteerly. The only books ihave read before this were cheesy teen books, i've never actually read a book that had so many twists and turns. I read the whole thing in one weekend, i just couldn't put it down. Then i gave it to my cousin then she loaned it to her friends. Now we all joke about it. Now, I thought that Wally Lamb's writing was imaginative. I don't htink that the book is realistic, I mean, the situations are, but all that stuff can't happen to one person (but hey, i'm only 16, what do i know). Dolores goes through so many different phases, its like reading 10 books in one. But then again this book is about a life and life has an infinate numbers of experiences. All in all, this book is wonderful, not just because Oprah said it was (that's where i saw it), but because it a wonderful piece of literature.

Summary: She's Come Undone Cannot be Missed!
Review: There is something for everyone in Wally Lamb's novel She's Come Undone. He truly captures the heart of an overweight person. Delores is given the strength to continue on through Mr. Lamb's powerful and lyrical prose. I have read at least two books a week encompassing various genres and She's Come Undone is at the top of my list of favorite novels. She's Come Undone is compelling, believable, and at times humerous.

Summary: Seeing myself in print
Review: I loved this book. I read it in 3 days and was unable to put it down.. As I lived life thru Delores's eyes, I felt her emotions and her pain. The way this was written made me feel, not just imagine the emotions. I think there is a bit of Delores in all of us. I know that there were definitely places in this book that I saw myself. I hope that Mr. Lamb writes a sequel so that we can see how Delores's life finishes out.

Review: Wally Lamb did a wonderful job a portraying a young girl coming of age. Though a somewhat depressing story at times it showed how much Dolores really wanted to succeed. It made me laugh and it made me cry. I was sad when the book ended because I wanted to read more, more, more. I can't express how good of a read this really was for me. I'm waiting for another!

Summary: I couldn't put it down!
Review: I really liked this book alot! Someone else reviewing this book earlier said it reminded them of an older, more mature Judy Blume book- like Blubber. Well- I loved Judy Blume growing up, and I thought this book was insightful and well written. It is unbelieveable that a man wrote this book, he has so much insight to be able to write from a woman's perspective like that. Delores was mean, but can you blame her, after all that has happened to her. At least she finally came to grips with things (we hope). The whole thing about the whale I could have lived without- I don't see why a big, dead bloated whale would cause such a transformation- I mean I like whales, but it was a bit strange is all. I truly did love this book- best book I have read in a long, long time!

Review: I enjoyed reading this book despite myself. It reminded me of all of the Judy Blume Books I read on vacation when I was 15. I felt a little guilty in letting myself engage in such a stupid book...but had fun reading it nonetheless. What is so scary are all the other readers who still think that a fine piece of literature is something like "She's Come Undone". What's with all of the 10's? Some of us seem to still be in a highschool time-warp! Do you remember "Blubber?" Same character, a little older, a lot meaner!

Summary: Makes You Think!
Review: I only picked up this paperback due to the Oprah Winfrey sticker on it. I looked at the first page in Walmart and said, "Nah, this looks depressing." Thinking, well, it appears to be about how this girl gets fat because of things that happened to her as a child that she had no control over. I learned somethings from this book. It helped me to understand some things about myself. I didn't want it to end the way it did, and I checked early on to see it said 'fiction'. I hoped the ending could have been more fictional! It was honest! Things don't always end in perfection. I recommend this book to older women, over 40. I will definitely read this author again. I kept looking at the author's picture at the book's end to see his eyes, trying to see where the knowledge and understanding of female emotion came from. He looks Jewish, slight, perhaps effiminate. Is he gay? Is this why he put in the wonderful gay coulple? And if so, perhaps answers his ability to know Delores so intimately? All men should be able to know what this author knows. A fine job of writing. This book captures so many emotional journeys that women travel to achieve their life's "happiness". Sometimes you question the author, "Why did you need to put this in?" But now I see why. It works.

Summary: Every teen Should be made to read it
Review: I loved this book! I am 13 year old, and I have never read anything more deep and profound. Every teen my age should be made to read this book in school, it will teach them what can happen when you tease someone and how their life will be. This book made me laugh, it made me cry, and I passed around copies to all my friends and teachers. Everyone should read She's Come Undone.
