Rating: 4 stars
Summary: very honest
Review: I found this book to be one of the most honest and truthful books I've read. It's a funny book but at the same time a very serious book, dealing with problems we all have to face. In the character Dolores Wally Lamb has created someone who we can all relate to, laugh and cry with. I'd recommend it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Fabulous and Funny!
Review: It kept me enthralled to the last page. What a wacky heroine Wally Lamb invented! Bravo!

I haven't enjoyed a book this much since DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA YA SISTERHOOD by Rebecca Wells and AMERICAN PIE by Micheal Lee West. Those two are good reads too.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Realistic, and true to life: in other words, depressing.
Review: Through 464 of its 465 pages, fragile, uncertain, cynical, knowledgeable Dolores Price BEGS for people to trample on her. Most of the characters in Wally Camp's first novel oblige. Her college roommate bad-mouths her, orders her out of the room to do laundry to accommodate a tryst. Her husband abuses her physically and verbally, yet she willingly takes on two jobs to support him. Her father deserts her early in her formative years. her schoolmates openly deride her weight problem.

The emotionally reader can get so angry! Why does she put up with all this humiliation? And come back for more? Yet we keep hoping against hope that something---anything---good will happen, that someone---anyone---will see beyond the surface of this frightened, unlucky, caring, kind girl/woman.

All this is not to suggest that She's Come Undone is entirely gloom and doom. Lamb skillfully weaves into this saga scene after scene of humor, poigancy, drama. Her appointment with the doctor for a pre-college physical examination is hilarious. Her reply to the fatally ill Mr. Pucci's comment that everyone's scared to be happy leaves a lump in the reader's throat. Her defiant stand in a confrontation with her worthless husband is dramatic evidence that Dolores may yet salvage a life.

Fortunately for the emotionally involved reader, Lamb---obliquely, it is true, and on the final page---suggests that Dolores is not quite Undone. The reader sighs deeply.

Summary: Can you say depressing?
Review: I've never been one to stop reading a book after I've started it - I wish I had this one. This book was very interesting, yet depressing. I kept thinking it would get better, but......

Summary: My second favorite book of all time!
Review: There is not a single friend teacher family member etc. to whom I have not recommended this book. I have read it three or four times now and it suprises me every time I read it. It is incredible how completely Wally Lamb so aptly portrays what it is to grow up and think as a women. I one were to attempt to diagram the plot of this book it would seem absolutely impossible for anyone to possible endure so much in one lifetime; yet the book never loses its sense of reality. A must read!

Summary: I just couldn't put it down
Review: This book was wonderful. The characters that Wlaay Lamb created seemed to become a part of you. It's just hard to imagine that the book wasn't written by Delores herself. I look forward to Mr. Lamb's future works.

Summary: Don't read it unless you have a fondness for 4-letter words!
Review: I chose to read She's Come Undone because the cover fascinated me and because Oprah recommended it. Well, the cover is the best part of the book, and I will be forever hesitant to trust Oprah's recommendations after this dreadful read. I did finish it, thinking the language would improve, and I must admit that the story is interestingly told. I honestly think that, were it not for the foul language(f-word, f-word, f-word), it could have been a great book.

Summary: Terrible
Review: When I read this book was being compared to World According To Garp- I was taken. There is no connection- There is nothing hilarious in this depressing book. Dolores was so weak I was convinced she was never going to improve. The revelation of why she suffered so much because of her mother's behaviour was anti-climactic. At the end of the novel I still had not figured out why she improved- What had changed in her life. After leaving the hospital she continued to make wrong choices- why was she suddenly able to make right choices???
