Summary: A turbulant emotional ride well worth the price of admission
Review: How Wally Lamb could ever write not only a woman's character but a GIRL'S character so well is beyond me. Delores Price is equipped with emotional survival skills that most people aren't forced to use. Wally Lamb brings the reader right into her head and heart. We feel all of her emotions and ache for her pain. I cried when it was over because I wanted to stay with Delores and make sure she stays on track in life. I loved this book. And I loved his characters. Thanks, Wally.

Summary: This is what John Irving used to write like!!!
Review: One the best books of the year for me. Lamb lets Delores take wild rides, eating, drinking, farting.and you still feel something for her. This book doesn't just feel like a book, but like a story about a friend of a friend. Almost hard to believe yet somehow you know it happened! A must for those of us who were never prom queen.

Summary: This book makes you FEEL!
Review: Until "She's Come Undone", I have never read a book that takes you inside the character's mind to make you laugh, feel sorrow, pity, excitement, anticipation.. The author's ability to do this is what compelled me to read this book in less than 4 days! I think everyone can relate to a part of Delores' life, either the triumphs or the tribulations! I am amazed that this book was written by a man. It is the first book that I have read that I actually caught myself laughing out loud and reading lines to my husband. I love Wally Lamb's writing style and can't wait to read his next novel! I'm sure you will find yourself passing this book on to friends and family for their enjoyment. A definite must read!

Summary: Painful, yet satisfying.
Review: It was amazing that a young girl/woman going through all her pain could make up a book that was so wonderfully satisfying to read. I was so caught up in all the horrible happenings, it was freaky. I couldn't put the book down. Just when you thought Dolores got her life on track, something else happened to her.

Summary: A "Must Not Read" for the already depressed
Review: My aunt recommended this book, praising Wally Lamb for being able to write from a woman's point of view. I personally could not relate to Delores or the way she thought of herself or the world around her. Even though she goes through a lot, I did not find myself caring about this character. The romantic relationship she had with Dante was too pat. I couldn't buy his falling for her so soon (or at all.) If Delores had had an ounce of personality and I had words to describe her other than fat, mean, and crude, I could've believed that Dante could fall in love with her. I was disappointed in this book. Looks like Oprah can't always pick them. If you want a good read about someone whose life is pitiful and how they handle it, read "Angela's Ashes" by Frank McCourt (nonfiction.) I picked it out myself, and the only regret I have is that the book ended.

Summary: The greatest book read this year!
Review: I absolutely loved this book. I couldn't put it down. She's Come Undone tells a little something about all of us. You can learn a lot from this book. People are not always what they seem . It shows you what it is like to be in someone elses shoes.

Summary: This book was highly realistic and moving.
Review: It is astounding that a man wrote this book. It is written very accurately and realistic from a girl's standpoint. I enjoy Lamb's style of writing. He describes situations just as they are, with no frills. He has become a favorite author of mine.

Summary: One of the most incredible books I've read
Review: This book was incredible. I just finished it, and I'm still in awe of the whole book. Even more amazing was that it was written by a man, yet captures so many of the feelings of a woman. Another remarkable quality of the book was the way that Wally Lamb managed to truly demonstrate Delores' state of mind, by age. When she was four, the reader easily enters the mind set of a four year old. And as the character matures, the reader easily changes his or her mindset. I'm just amazed by this book and am about to run out and try to find the new Wally Lamb book. I heard it's more than 900 pages, which would be wonderful, since I never wanted this one to end.

Summary: More depressing even than real life...
Review: While I don't feel my life has been anyone's bed of roses, I found "She's Come Undone" to be so depressing and gritty that it was literally unbelievable. While many instances, taken alone, were shocking and thought-provoking, the book as a whole was just too much. Sorry, Oprah, and others... it's obvious many disagree, but I found the book a waste of time.

Summary: A scary, funny glimpse into the abyss of self-hatred
Review: I could not stop thinking about Dolores after I finished this book. Wally Lamb really captured the thoughts and actions of a depressed, lonely and masochistic girl/woman. I could empathize with the character on a very small scale, which was frightening in and of itself. I just wanted to slap Dolores, and kept thinking is there anyone out there like Dolores? Probably, and it scares me!
