Summary: Poorly done. Don't read it.
Review: I found the novel terribly dry and unappealing. I am shocked at the overwhelming positive response. Though the social issues addressed do deserve some attention, the novel was poorly done. I felt no attachment to the characters; they all seem totally unrealistic. I kept hoping the storyline would improve, but it didn't! Optimism kept me reading, but I hated this book!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Fantastic, never dull
Review: She's Come Undone is the best book I've read in a long time. It was never dull, I didn't want to put it down. When it was over I was sorry to be leaving Dolores's life. I hope Wally Lambs next book is as good.

Summary: I didn't want to put it down!!!
Review: I kept wondering how a man could write in the first-person female so accurately. As a woman, I was very impressed. Dolores Price is a heroine, in the true sense of the word.

Summary: an anthem to the human condition
Review: An anthem to human courage and dignity. This one is a keeper for the all-time lists.

Summary: Depressing
Review: This book was very depressing. Judging by everyone else's glowing remarks, I guess I just don't get it. I could have done without reading it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A great read from start to finish
Review: This book will hopefully sensitize those who are prejudist against others who do not appear to "fit it" because of their size or characteristics. It is well written, keeps you interested from start to finish, and quite believable. This was a very different subject matter from what I am used to reading. I did not think I would enjoy it as much as I did, but I would recommend it to anyone. It is one of those true to life novels that keeps you interested because of the way you can relate to the characters. I grew up in the 60's and I think anyone who remembers this era will really relate to some of the things that are covered, especially the music and singers that are referred to.

Summary: Begins well, then gets too "adult" in language
Review: Too bad the author felt his story was not good enough without profanity. Too much profanity. The story itself was excellent, but just when I really felt a closeness with the character, the four letter words screamed at me from the page. The main character lost a lot of my compassion for her when so much filth spewed out of her.

Summary: Every emotion was in this wonderfully written book.
Review: I found this book totally engrossing. I just couldn't put it down. Right away I fell in love with Dolores. I loved how she said everything that she thought. It was wonderfull how a girl with so little self esteem could go and achieve her dreams. The only thing that could have been left out was Dottie. I didn't care for her or what they did. I guess that it was necessary, though, it helped Dolores move on from that point in her life. I was amazed that a man wrote this book. I would like to commend Wally Lamb for writing such a heartwrenching book that everyone can enjoy.

Summary: Incredible!
Review: I have only two chapters left of "She's Come Undone", and I DON'T WANT TO FINISH IT! I'm enjoying it too much! (I guess I'll have to run out and get Mr. Lamb's second book.) Ok, most of the time I just can't STAND Dolores, but I also find myself sympathizing. When's the last time I felt emotional about a character in a book? I can't remember! Note to anyone who grew up in Eastern Connecticut or Rhode Island -- you'll especially identify with this book! (Remember Mr. Big's Discount Department Store in Norwich?????) Thanks, Wally. And Thanks Oprah for finding it and bringing it to our attention!!

Summary: Great reading!!
Review: Excellent account of a young woman's struggle to battle the self hate that has been planted by so many players in her life. The sense of being betrayed by her father's womanizing, victimized by her mother's mental illness and persecuted by her grandmother's religious convictions leads the main character to plunge down a spiral of self-pity and loathing which, in turn, almost leads her to self destruct.

It is the first time that a male author has so accuratley portrayed the female adolescents slef hatered for her body, family and surroundings which she attributes to bringing her complete misery.
