Summary: Work in Progress is an easy read about a great American
Review: Having read most books about Michael Eisner and Disney, I was most anxious to see what his perspective was of the events and people that have made Eisner one of Americas icons. True to his personality, he does discuss the warts (Disney's America etc) and the personality conflicts with some of his closest associates, as well as the glowing successes that have taken place since he moved to Disney in 1984. The most interesting thing to me is his modesty and his constant reference to his wife and family. It is obvious that he has his priorities in order when he discusses a $19 billion acquisition of ABC in much the same tone as his son's hockey talents. No study of Disney would be complete without reading this book.

Summary: The Ultimate Inside Look Into World Media
Review: Here's a man who has influenced the lives of people all over the world for decades - through films, television shows, theme parks, stores, TV networks, sports teams... And here's a great, accessible, enjoyable book about the inside workings of world media. The stories and insights are candid and authentic (and several are downright amazing). There's a reason some people have the kind of impact they do, and Eisner's style -in writing and, apparently, in running Disney, must be it. I read this book nearly straight through in a few sittings, because it held me and because I was learning. Very few people have the experience of running a firm with a 160,000 employees and worldwide impact; and very, very few could have written about it as interestingly. Gavin de Becker, author The Gift of Fear.

Summary: SUPER SNORE
Review: I am a big Eisner fan and there are many things I expected of this book. I did not expect to be BORED, however. And I was. This is another ghost-written glossover of items that have been covered more fully in PR releases.

Summary: This is a great read!!!!
Review: I bought this book on special - ... Can't complain!!

But I must tell you it was a brilliant book and one that you will read right through and look forward everytime you pick it up. It was brilliantly written and about things that you know of. Movies you've seen or heard about. So it involves you in all his business ventures. In between all the stories is great advise and great ideas which you can relate to your own business.
Overall just really enjoyable and well worth looking at.

Summary: Great personal insight into Disney's inner workings
Review: I bought this CD to listen on a long road trip and it really made my trip a lot more enjoyable. The narration was very good, considering that the author actually did it himself. Maybe that's why it sounds very personal, like he is talking to me. The story is fascinating, especially for someone who is interested in Disney and familiar with the 'cast' of executives in the story, some of whom I didn't know had any connection with each other until i heard this CD. It's a great audio CD and I highly recommend it!

Summary: Of Mice and Megalomania
Review: I find Mr. Eisner's "raison d'etre" for paying Mr. Katzenberg scores of millions of dollars for the privilege of firing him as specious as the rest of his self-justifying, self-absorbed twaddle. Disney has been, until this most recent generation, a great American landmark. While many have found its intrinsic innocence infuriating, and there have always been jaded cynics like this, at least we all could agree that it embodies the innocence that is the fresh, young country of America. Mr. Eisner, mounting his horse of reform and baby-boomer (spoiled and dogmatic) mentality naturally aims to change all this. One doesn't like it much -- at least not the final product -- but at least one could learn to live with it, if only the C.E.O. had the integrity to call it what it is. A transformed money machine, and a vehicle for leftist propoganda. Why not admit it, Michael, you've got a huge chip on your shoulder, and you're determined to make us all pay. And pay.

Summary: A very good book indeed.
Review: I got this book during my last visit at Disney and I can say I was not disapointed. The book starts with Mr. Eisner's visit to the hospital and then goes all the way back to his summer school years. You might ask, so why is it interesting at all?

Well, the writting is very engaging and all sorts of names start to pop up like rabbits in a very natural way; like if you were speaking of your friends and collegues. The only thing is that your list of partners might not include George Lucas, Robert Redford, Clint Eastwood, among the several celebrities mentioned.

Eisner, however, details his hits and misses with the apparent upmost sincerity. Like the first time he tried to close a deal and how he got mad because the other party tried to take advantange of the situation at the last minute...

I come from a business background and I have experienced many of the situations that Eisner covers in his book. It is very nice to read his point of view on many topics and affect all business managers every day.

I think his dealing with Jeffrey Katzenberg was debatable and each party tried to get the most water for their own well and forgot to see what was best for Disney. At the end I think they all lost...

The book is very good indeed. Don't think is it another way to spend your money on a Disney product because if it is, you will be getting the best part of the bargain.

Summary: Started Out Good- then I found Mr. Eisners's true character
Review: I had bought this book, and for a time I was enjoying it. Then I came across another book I bought, "Disney, The Mouse Betrayed" and I became so very upset about learning about the true Michael Einser, and what was not said in this book, that I returned this book, very disappointed with this man, and the damage he had and has done to the Kingdom so many of us love so very much. :-(

Summary: An "interesting" look at the life of an extrodinary man.
Review: I just finished the book and I guess really expected more. It tells alot about the life of one of the most popular man in todays business, but I often found Michael Eisner patting himself on the back on numerous occasions( his arm must be sore by now!). He has done alot for the Disney Company, and continues to do so...successfully.
