Summary: I loved this book!!!
Review: I'm 8 years old .I have loved this book since I was a little kid!!I liked that the bats and the birds could get along.Even though they were Different.I think we all should do the same. From C.B.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Warm story perfect for preschooler/kindergartener
Review: Stellaluna is wonderful. It has the perfect drama for a young child's fantasy: a bat child separated from family manages to survive without her parents, but has a joyful reunion. I think the story works especially well because of a number of elements that resonate with a young child. First of all, there is the drama of abandonment and reunion; that's always a worry on a young child's mind. There's also the silliness of a bat doing bird things (including eating worms instead of fruit). This always appeals to the preschool set who love being in-the-know about how things are supposed to work. Finally, it's a great book to read with your child on your lap, because it ends with a big hug.

The illustration is also excellent, beautiful, vivid pictures in full color. You can buy a Stellaluna stuffed animal too (I believe there are book and animal sets). They have these neat velcro strips on the feet and wings so you can hang her upside down, asleep in her wings from whatever a four year old can reach.

Summary: This book should be standard fare for elementary school
Review: This book is a much gentler, lovelier rendition of the ugly duckling story. It teaches acceptance, rather than the rejection issue which dominates in The Ugly Duckling. This should be required reading in elementary schools.

Summary: A baby bat is raised by a family of birds.
Review: A baby fruit bat separated from her mother is raised by a family of birds. Stellaluna is welcome in their nest as long as she abides by bird rules. She happily grows and learns to fly, despite her differences. Reunited with other bats, she realizes why she likes to hang upside down and fly at night. Yet she stays in touch with her bird siblings because"we're friends. And that's a fact." With rich illustrations and a beautiful story, Stellaluna teaches the importance of similarities and difference

Summary: Not for adopted, orphaned, or step-kids!
Review: I was shocked at the ending-Stellaluna is reunited with her birth family. That never happens to adopted or orphaned children, nor do stepchildren ever see their original family reunited. I'm not sure who this book is for-I don't see anything in it that children who have never "lost" a parent can identify with. For children that have "lost" a parent, the book just reinforces magical thinking. There are too many other great books out there-skip this one.

Summary: School Book Review
Review: Before I had children I came across this book and became obsessed. It's beautifully written and illustrated. Now that I have a daughter I love to read it to her, and enjoy the author's other works as well! It's a wonderful book for any age!

Summary: Classic childrens book that I will never forget
Review: There is nothing amazing to this story, yet I have not forgot it years after hearing it. Maybe it was the librarians voice, or the big blue cover, but I fell in love with this book. A very sweet, charming book with your typical mother and baby story. Will buy for my kids one day :P

Summary: for children (and adults) of all ages
Review: The illustrations and the story of Stellaluna are a treasure. I purchased this book to help teach children who are preparing to change cultures or those who have already changed cultures; however it is a thoroughly engaging story for children of all ages. I do agree with the warning of other reviewers that this book might not be approriate for younger adopted children. Otherwise this treasure of a book is highly recommended.

Summary: Beautiful Illustrations
Review: This book does justice to the one issue that it tries to cover... differences. In words that small children can understand, it deals with the idea that people are different. We can appreciate the fact that "birds" eat "bugs" without having to like "bugs" ourselves. There are plenty of other things we have in common with people who are different from us. It doesn't ever use words like "culture" or "race" but the concepts are very clear, and dealt with in a sensitive and heartwarming manner. And to top it all off, the illustrations are simply breathtaking.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A beautiful story
Review: This book is about learning to accept yourself as you really are, and that your differences are not things to be ashamed of or try to suppress...and that even when it seems like you don't fit in, there are others out there that you can relate to, while still loving the people who are different from you. A wonderful lesson for children. :)
