Summary: Brians winter
Review: The book Brian's winter is written by Gary Paulsen. The main character in the book is Brian Robeson who is a 13-year-old boy that is going to see his father when the plane crashed. Now Brian is stuck in the woods for summer through winter. Brian has to find food to eat by hunting animals like moose, rabbit, and deer to stay alive. Brian has to build shelter, and make his own fire.
I like this book because of all the survival tips it gives you. If I was stuck in the woods, I would not know what to do but after reading Brain's winter I now can survive in the woods. The boy is only 13-years-old he knew how to survive on his own, he must have been smart. Brian dose not know that winter is comeing so he has to prepare he
I give the book a rating of 9 because in the beginning of the book I was confused on what has happened in the first couple pages. At the end the book got a 10 because it got more interesting to me. The book is Realistic fiction. It is a good book so read it.

Summary: Brian's Winter
Review: The novel Brian's Winter is about a boy that gets stranded in the wilderness and has to learn how to stay alive. He has been stranded in the wilderness for 96 days. Brian gets through many dangers along the way, and has to learn how to hunt animals in order to have food to eat. Towards the climax, he also learns how to make weapons, and tools to use in case of danger or when he needs to skin an animal that he caught. This is what the story was about and how Brian had to learn to stay alive.
I liked the novel Brian's Winter because it had a lot of adventure and action in it. Brian has to do a lot of walking around and experiencing many new things with animals and surviving. He has to go through many encounters with all kinds of animals such as a bear attack. He also has to mark his territory with a pack of wolves. Each morning he always heard birds, until winter came, everything grew silent. I mostly liked the parts where he had happy and dangerous at times, encounters with animals.
In conclusion, the novel Brian's Winter's genre would be realistic fiction and from 1-5, I would rate this book a 4. My reasons for rating this book a 4 is because I thought it was a very interesting book to read. However, at times the book was boring because it repeated some parts in the book, or Brian stayed in the same place for a long period of time. Overall, I hope you choose Brian's Winter because it has a lot of action and adventure that you can learn from.

At the age of 13 Brian took a plane on vacation by himself. On this trip it was only him and the pilot who was driving the plane. During the plane ride the pilot was having a hard time and crashed the plane into a lake. Brian was very scared and wasn't sure if the pilot was still alive or not. Brain got up and knew he wasn't really hurt and he saw the pilot and saw that he was dead. Brain got out of the crashed plane and began to look around for a good place for him to stay, since he knew he would be in the wilderness for a while.
As the days went on Brian began to make himself arrows that he could kill animals with. It took him a while because he built small arrows for rabbits and larger ones for Deer. He also built himself a nice little home that he could stay in that kept him warm, and he would build a fire everyday just so he wouldn't freeze. It started to get colder and the leaves were falling off and Brian knew right away that winter would be there soon. So he began to kill more animals and use their fur for gloves and other things to keep him warm. The next day brain was out in the forest looking for animals and he spotted a moose. So he tried to shot at it and when it hit the moose it didn't die. It Charged at Brain and Brain didn't know what to do. He tried to shot at it again but he was struggling. The moose tackled him and Brain and right as that happened brain shot it, but by the strength of the moose it knocked Brain out.
When Brain woke up He wasn't sure if he was alive or not she he just tried to more every body part 1 at a time slowly. He realized that when he shot the moose it had killed it, and it was lying on top of him. Brain got up and he felt bad but he knew he needed the meat and fur. So he dragged it back to his house he built. That night right before Brain was going to fall asleep he heard a noise that sounded like a gun shot. He didn't know what to think so he waited awhile and then he heard it again, But he just decided to go look in the morning. When he went in the morning he wasn't finding anything not even tracks. He was standing up against a tree and all of a sudden the tree exploded and made the same noise he heard before. So really there was nobody shooting it was just trees exploding because it was so cold. After that it became very cold out and Brain and enough food to last him and the house he had made kept him same and warm. Soon it began warm again and it was easier for Brain to find food. One day Brain heard what sounded to be a gun shot, but it sounded just like it sounded before and that was really trees exploding. He though to his self ' how could it be trees exploding when its warm out'. So he began to walk around the lake and look for people. When he got to other side of the lake he saw something that made him so happy and changed his life.
I myself would have to rate this book a 10. This book was one of the best books that I have ever read. I really enjoyed it because it had very good description and it was just a good book in general. I think that many kids my age and maybe older and younger would really enjoy this book, and I recommended it to younger kids to read because I'm pretty sure they will enjoy it.

The book that I have been reading is called Brian's Winter. The book is written by Gary Paulsen. The book is about a thirteen-year-old boy named Brian Robeson who has been stranded in the Canadian wilderness all by him self with out any food or clothing to keep him alive. Brian had become his own worst enemy because in all the business of hunting fishing and surviving he hade forgotten the primary rule always pay attention to what is happening. Brain got in a plane crash and when the plane had crashed he was the only one that was out in the wilderness and now he had to be all by himself and try to make the best out of it and he had to hunt for food in order to stay alive. Sometimes Brian would go without days of eating and now he really had to think to himself that he had to get started hunting. And even though it was still summer soon or a later the winter would be coming and if he does not have any food he would die and it is going to be much harder in the winter to hunt for food. Do you think that Brian is going to make it through all by him self?
I enjoyed reading this book because I thought that it was very interesting learning about a boy that was only thirteen years old and had no idea what was going on and he had to make it through the days and nights all by himself. If anyone were to ask me if they should read this book, I would say yes because it was action packed.
The rating that I would give the book is a ten because its kept my interested and tells you about life and how you can survive if it means living or dying.

Brain's Winter

Brain's winter is about a teen aged boy who got lost in the wilderness who was on a plane to see his father. When he was on his way the plane went down and the pilot died, but Brian survived. Brian has a few supplies but not too many and needs to learn how to survive in the wilderness. First he comes across two wolves that sort of help him by letting him have the rest of the deer. Second he encounters a bear twice in this which gives him a lot of problems and would have killed him if the skunk Betty didn't come rescue him. Lastly he encounters a moose, he only attacked the moose for food in the winter but unfortunately he didn't know he was so strong and the moose did die but wounded Brain with a head collision knocking Brain out cold. Now what do you think will happen next will Brain be killed by these wild animals or will he be lucky and finally be able to come home to see his parents?

If someone asked me if I liked this book I would have to say yes. The reason I say this is because it always grabs your attention and makes you want to read the next chapter. Gary Paulsen has a way to add a twist to the end of each chapter for instance at the end of chapter 16 it says "it was too warm for trees to explode". When he said these things went into my head like is he getting his hopes up or is someone going to finally rescue him.

If I was a person that rates books and I picked up Brian's Winter I would say this book would be a 4 out of 5. I say this because it was good but sometimes I felt really bored. I felt bored because sometimes what I look for in a book is more then just one setting. This whole book basically took place with him in this one spot in the Canadian wilderness. Also the only reason this book made me want to read more is when at the end of each chapter there was always something there to get your mind going and thinking what will happen next. Then if I were to give this book a rating it would be a 4 out of 5.

Summary: briams winter
Review: The book Brian's winter by Gary Paulsen. The book takes place from late summer to winter the main character is Brian, Brian is 13 years old when his plan crashed on an island. He lives in the wilderness for about 94 days and during that time he encounters many obstacles like a charging moose vary cold wind and lots of snow. He also makes some friends as in a skunk he starts to talk to it like it is a person brian also lears a lot more many skills he maks bow's and arrows a lance he uses skin from the animals and heats them up so he streches them out and lets the dry and uses it as clothing.
I really like this book a lot just because the way Gary gets into the mind of the reader and puts a good visual in my head. He writes the book in second person view witch I like a lot. But some bad things about the book is that the book is a little short it would be a lot better if it was a little longer. Another dislike of the book it is the ending is really weird.
On a scale of one to ten as ten being the best I rate this book a nine. It really made an effect on me and the way he rites to connect to the reader. The genera is a realistic fiction. It is also a good way to get survival tips for if you are ever lost in a forest or in the wilderness. I would recommend this book to many people if I knew a lot of people.

Summary: Brians Winter
Review: Brian Robeson was in a plane crash and all he had was a survival kit from the plane and a hatchet that his mom gave him before he left for his journey. Brian was on his way to see his father and the plane went down in the Canadian wilderness. Brian had to learn how to survive in the wilderness and all the changes that he had to go through in order to survive. He had to learn many things in order to survive. For instance he had to learn how to hunt and he had to learn how to take care of himself. Brian was in the wilderness for a total of 94 days total and every day he thought it was his last he learned how to fish and how to start fires and what would happen if he got in a fight with a bigger animal.
I did not like this book I thought that is was boring at times. This was the first wilderness book that I have read and I do not like it. I also think that it was not realistic at times. I mean that if a boy were to really get in a fight with a bear the bear would have probably killed him. Also that if he got in a fight with a moose wouldn't he have been severely injured? I think that he would.
I would rate this book on a scale from one to ten I would give this book a four. Just because I did not like the book and that I think that it should have been more graphic in some parts. I also think that in some parts did not need to be in the book. But parts of the book didn't flow together as I would think it would. Like at one time he was in the camp and the next part he was out hunting or talking care of his friend Betty the skunk.

Summary: Brian's Winter
Review: Brian's Winter is the story about a 13-year old boy traveling alone to his father's home. The plane he's on crashes and he is left on alone until recused. That rescue doesn't come for over 4 long months. Equipped only with the plane's emergency pack, Brian does his best to survive on his own in the wilderness. Brian learms to think things through, to examine and analyze his environment, before doing his best to address the situation. He makes some mistakes along the way but he learned from them too, like how not to build a camp fire in an airtight shelter. Brian had alot of time to think and wonder about the animals, the land, and nature in general, too.
What I liked most about this story is how Brian didn't get all goofy after plane crash. He didn't cry, or through a temper tantrum. He didn't look at his situation and think the worst. Sure he was scared but he didn't panic. I also liked how Brian thought everything out. Brian tried to use the basic things around him in order to survive. Yes, he made mistakes byt he learned from them and moved on. He learned to appreciate what he had.
I thought the ending was kind of sad becasue Brian wasn't the same boy he was at the start of this adventure and i think he missed the animals and people he met. He didn't feel the same way about things and he was more cautions as he thought things through before taking action.
If you are in fiction stories containing real-life situations, then the novel Brian's Winter by author Gary Paulsen is an excellent book to read. It is a very detailed novel and it gives alot of insight to what its like to be lost in the wilderness. The story is informative and insightful. I found myself thinking "now how could I do th at?" This story was written in such a way that it makes you use your imagination. On a scale from 1-10, I would rate this book a "9".

Summary: Brians Winter critic essay
Review: Brian's Winter critic essay

The book Brian's Winter was based on a suffering, but learning, fourteen year old boy who had been trapped in the wilderness for quite a few months. At the beginning of this book Brian had found limited supplies on the plane that had crashed. The supplies included a .22 rifle, a hunting knife with a compass attached, pots and pans, a fork, a spoon, matches, two butane lighters, a sleeping bag, a foam pad, a first aid kit, fishing supplied and several packets of dried food. With these items Brian had to survive a winter in the Wilderness, hence the title. To do so Brian had to hunt animals and use every last piece of them to survive. Throughout the book you witness Brian go through many dangerous learning experiences that teach him a lot of survival skills.
In my personal opinion this book was terrible. To me it was one huge bore. First off, the plot was very uninteresting especially in the way the author (Gary Paulsen) had written about it. Also while reading you are quite positive of the ending that will come upon. Lastly on the negative side, it made me angry when the author would write about how the starving boy in the wilderness (Brian) had wished he never had killed the animals he had. This is the most unrealistic thing I have ever come across; any human being who would have starved if he or she did not hunt would not regret it in the slightest.
One thing I did enjoy about this book was the details. The author did a great job of projecting images in my head. One more thing I enjoyed about the book was the actual survival tips placed in it. These tips would actual benefit you some in the wilderness. On a scale from 1-5 I give this book a 2, mostly because of the lame storyline. This was my first survival book and will be my last.

Summary: Brian's Winter
Review: As you know thirteen- year- old Brain Robeson was rescued in the book Hatchet, but what if Brian wasn't rescued. What if Brain had to learn to survive in the freezing cold Canadian winter with only a hatchet? It is extremely crucial that Brian takes everything he has learned and uses it to his best interests.
In the book Hatchet Brain came across many dangerous obstacles and in the process learned how survive in the wilderness but now it's even more vital that Brain learns how to stay alive because now Brain is going to have to live through the treacherous winter and the Canadian wilderness.
Brain's Winter was an outstanding book. I have no complaints, but I do admit Gary Paulsen does leave you hanging. Don't worry though because in the book The River he explains everything. I thought this book was excellent. This book definitely lives up to Hatchet.
I rate Brain's Winter an 8 out of 10 because it is an exceptionally outstanding book as well as Hatchet considering survival books aren't particularly what you would call my favorite type novels. The reason why I give this book a high rating is because Gary Paulsen is an extraordinary writer. Maybe because most of the stuff he writes about. He has experienced himself one way or another though out his life. He is so detailed like he knows exactly what he is talking about. That's what makes this book so interesting. I definitely recommend it.
