Summary: Brian's Winter
Review: I really liked this story because it was really easy to follow and kept my interest through out the entire story. Even though this story is easy to follow and it gives a complete picture of what the forest was like for Brian, I still think that before anyone reads this story they should read Hatchet and The River before so that they understand it.

Summary: Action Pact, Full of Adventure
Review: After Gary Paulsen wrote Hatchet, children who read the book started to ask, "what if Brian hadn't been rescued? What if he had stayed for the winter?" So Gary Paulsen decided to write about it, and that's where the book Brian's Winter came from. In the book, Brian Robeson's only concern is survival, but between him and returning to his warm, cozy home stands the harsh winter conditions he must face if he is ever to see his mother or father again. I really enjoyed reading this book because of the plot, and especially because of the way it was written in third person. When Gary Paulsen decided to write it that way, I thought that he made a good decision because it really pulled me into the story, as if I were there. The plot was exiting, and at times even heart stopping, and I intend to read the story again soon. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes books with a lot of action and a big plot.

Summary: A Good Story, But A Silly Idea.
Review: This book is good for some Hatchet fans. But for some people (like me) may find the "if this didn't happan" idea a little to silly. Oh sure the story is great "Brian having to survie winter" I thought at first that was silly, the kid would die! But o'l Gary suprised me. And I was impressd with how Brian survived winter. BUT STILL! It probly would have been better if he just stuck it on the end of Hachet instead of making a whole new book! well ether way read this for yourself and see how you feel about this "Alternite Ending"

Summary: Brian's Winter Review
Review: This book is about a young boy named Brian Robeson and his survival in the wilderness. Brian's Winter is the sequel to the famous book written by Gary Paulsen, Hatchet. In this book Mr. Paulsen writes about how Brian has to survive during the winter as if he didnt get rescued. Brian has to relearn everything he knows in order to stay alive. His old way of hunting dosent work as well as it had in the summer and he makes a few mistakes. One mistake happens when he comes in contact with a large mouse. He learns from this mistake and it dosent happen again. This is a great book even if you havent read the first one, Hatchet.

Summary: Brian's Winter a review by Kevin
Review: Do you have a fear of flying? Well if you do this book is definitely not for you. On the other hand, if you love adrenaline and you're an outdoor person this book is for you. Well, in Brian's Winter the sequel of Hatchet Brian, the protagonist, finds himself in such an out of control situation. On a plane ride to visit his dad in Canada the pilot has a heart attack. He tries to land the plane himself but he crashes in a lake. Nearly drowning he swims a shore. Brian is now bleeding and hurt badly. He knows he is very sick and needs food and water so he finds some berries. He lives on mostly berries for a while he estimates a month or two, but now it's winter and his life in the woods are about to change.
It was starting to get cold in the woods and Brian was behind in food and shelter. He was sitting on a rock when he saw what he should be doing. There, in the water were two beavers sitting in the water preparing for winter. Next, it happened. Brian got an idea from the beavers to use mud and sticks for a nice warm shelter. If this trick worked for beavers it should work for him... right? Brian gets started with his idea. First, he got the mud from the same spot that the beavers did. Then he finds enough sticks to hold up the contraption and finally his house is finished. The next day, it begins to snow. Then he wakes up and hears it. Some sort of popping noise that sounded like a shotgun. Was it a person? He gazes out of his fort to look for the direction of the noise and realizes he can't run fast in knee-deep snow. Brian remembers seeing Eskimos walking on snow. He thought how they did it and then it clicked they had snowshoes. Brian made crude snowshoes and also figured that with this ability he could hunt for meat. Also, he knew he wouldn't last long in the cold so he made a warm fur coat and pants out of the animals he had managed to hunt before. Finally, at the end of his list was to get more food. Now, it's time to try his new bow and snowshoes. Next, he walks into the woods and comes face to face with a buck deer that looks like it has been stung by a bumblebee. What will he do?
The ending of this story is one you can't miss. Will Brian escape the rampaging buck? Is the sound a person coming to hurt him or to save him? Well, you just have to find out for yourself by reading Brian's Winter by Gary Paulson.

Summary: Not the best book in the world
Review: I only liked a few things about this book. It was a little bit interesting at the beginning, but I later lost interest at the end. Some parts of the story were disgusting. Brian always killed wild animals. He never really seemed to care about the gore. It did not bother him. On page 29 Brian stepped on a bird and described it saying, "it blew up under his foot in a flash of leaves and feathers like a grenade detonating..." That is pretty nasty. Afterwards he did not show any remorse. Basically the beginning was better than the end.

I think that the theme of this story is that living on your own is tough at times, but you can get through it. I think that this is the theme of the story because during the time in the forest, Brain has learned how to live on his own, and how to survive alone. The only thing Brian and I have in common is that both of us have a lot of time to our thoughts. Basically we both think to ourselves a lot.

I am not sure that I would recommend this book. I did not really like it very much. It was not worth reading to the end. Spending time to read this book did not seem worth it. The ending was very disappointing. I did not like it at all. The ending also made Brian seem sort of dumb. If I could change one thing about this book it would defiantly be the ending. I would change so that maybe Brian died, or Brian would commit suicide. I wish that something unpredictable, but not so pointless (like the one in the story) happened at the end. That would have been so much better. In my opinion the world would be a better place if it had a different ending.

Summary: A Chilling Good Time
Review: Brians winter gives me chills of excitement while I read it.
I think this one is better than the river and really close to being better than Hatchet. I love how Gary Paulsen makes Brian think. The way he notices things even in a book it is cool. I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and thrills or outdoors. If you have read the other books u must read this!

Summary: Good Book
Review: Before I start I need to tell you that you can't read this book with out reading the book Hatchet. This book is mainly about how he had to crash land in the wilderness in the first book and, in this book is mainly about if he didn't get rescued and was left in the wilderness through the winter. I would recomend this book to any one who had a interest in Hatchet. I do think this book was almost as good as hatchet.
