Rating: Summary: Loyalty, honor, and love. Keep up the good work. Review: A rare romance novel when the hero never doubts the heroine's loyalty. If all relationships were just established with this in mind, the world would be a perfect place. Ms. Quick creates a world in which her readers can escape reality for a short while. The two main characters display all the traits (loyalty, honor, and love) needed to survive medival England and in the 21st century.
Great book, Ms. Quick. Keep up the good work.
Rating: Summary: Amazing!! Review: Although, I have read all of Ms. Krentz's novels, I recently started reading novels under her pseudonym Amanda Quick. I have to say that I absolutely love her books. Mystique is the second Quick novel I've read, and I'm just hooked! I loved both of the characters in this book. Alice was amusing with her stubbornness and boldness. I loved it when she didn't listen to Hugh and ordered him around. Hugh was great too. I thought it was really funny that he got his messenger, Julian, to write him lists of compliments that he could say to Alice. So sweet!! This book was a perfect blend of wit, comedy, romance, and action. A great way to be introduced to novels by Quick! I hope she continues to write a few more medieval romances!!
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL! Review: As usual, I can't help but fall in love with Amanda Quick's unique characters. I personally like the fact that her heroes and heroines are not the ultimate embodiment of classic perfection. I love the fact that the women are intelligent and the men are smart enough to appreciate it. Alice is smart, competent, and loyal and Hugh is masculine, intelligent, and amazingly sensitive to the emotional needs of others without becoming a wimp. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: A purely enjoyable read!!!! Review: I can't say that I make a steady diet of historical romance novels but occassionally I love the total escape to another place & time. I was not disappointed with Mystique.The combination of likeable,lively characters & the element of adventure delivered a wonderful read
Rating: Summary: OH I JUST LOVE THIS BOOK Review: I could put in down. I read this book in one day and reread it the next day. It was so wonderful. I love how Alice found away to deal with Hugh, and I love how Hugh was able to handle Alice without being mean. I love this book and I recommend that anybody who appreciates a funny,canningly written plot to read this novel. If I could rate this book a 10 I would.
Rating: Summary: Everything a romance should be Review: I loved this book. I thought Hugh was a great hero. Those stupid misunderstandings that plague romance novels were absent from this story. The characters respected one another as they discovered their love. I really enjoyed this story.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: I read this book about 2 years ago and its one of my Amanda Quick's favorite. I like this kind of setting better then The London "ton". I'd recomend this book to anyone who is an Amanda Quick fan. It's pretty cool.
Rating: Summary: Mystique is an excellent read for romance lovers. Review: In this exciting tale of Hugh the Relentless and Lady Alice,
Amanda Quick tells the story of a very assertive young lady who
doesn't give in to the dominating male. Hugh doesn't always get his way
and Lady Alice often gets to make some changes of her own. Amanda Quick defines a major part of love-compromise. The dialogue flows well and
Amanda Quick manages to throw in a little suspense and mystery
along with the romance. The only thing that befuddled me was the title;
it didn't tell much about the story within.
Rating: Summary: Exceptional Romance for an Exceptional Woman Review: Jayne Ann Krentz writes another wonderful warm story of an exceptional woman who, given a unique task, uses are her wiley ways to achieve a goal -- one that improves not only her life, but the life of the brother she must protect.Lady Alice is a strong minded, intelligent woman. Although she realizes the demands placed on woman of these gothic times, she refuses to bend to the norm. She is bright, self-sufficient, but painfully loyal to those she cares for. With logic and reasoning, she develops a scheme to find a missing green crystal and establish a place for her brother in London society. Sir Hugh, the center of Alice's scheme, sees another future as he looks in the eyes of the unique and lovely Alice. Her cunning and skill are quickly recognized. Sir Hugh finds a life intertwined with Alice as filled with exciting possibilities, and adventure worth the effort. While Alice works to achieve safety for herself and brother, Hugh weaves his own plan to capture the attention and affection of Alice. This interplay keeps the reader searching the next page for the ultimate conclusion. And, in the end, both Hugh and Alice achieve a goal that neither imagined or could hope for. Amusing, exciting and well written, Mystique is an exceptional book about an exceptional woman, who achieves her unexpected exceptional romance. I recommend this book without reservation.
Rating: Summary: Loved It! One Of My Favorite Medeival Romances Review: Mystique opens up with a mass of chaos in the Lady Alice's home. There is an impending visit from Hugh The Relentless laying claim to a mysterious stone that Alice purchased (and lost) and everyone is terrified that the notorious warrior will attack their home if angered. But unknown to everyone, Alice has no intention of bowing down to Hugh The Relentless. She intends to strike a bargain with him in exchange for the stone. Hugh is used to fear and respect from people, and Alice shocks him when she publicly chastises him for his rudeness and offers to help him find the missing stone in exchange for money for her brother's schooling and her entry into a convent. He is also surprised to find himself very attracted to her. But he doesn't fight it, and does everything he can to make sure she becomes his wife. I really enjoyed Mystique. I like a hero who respects his wife's intelligence and courage. I also like a heroine who is strong and stubborn without being childish and dumb. This is a great story about two stubborn people who are perfect for each other. They are both characters you can relate to, and their story is a delight. If you feel as I do, you should also read Rendevous and Ravished by this author. Both are just as good.
