Summary: Breathtaking!
Review: I couldn't put The Bronze Horseman down. And as soon as I finished it, I read it again, more slowly, to savor it. The book, a story of love and sacrifice in the middle of war, is beautifully written. To the author: PLEASE write a sequel!

Summary: 5 Stars Aren't Enough For This Incredible Novel!
Review: The Bronze Horseman is one of the best books I've ever read. While I was reading, I couldn't wait to see what happened next, but I was very sad when I reached the end - not because of the ending, but because I wanted to keep following the lives of the characters. I enjoyed it so much that that the minute I finished it I started reading it again. 637 pages weren't nearly enough.

Paullina Simons did an excellent job of developing all of the characters and making them seem real, as well as keeping the book suspenseful while giving incredible insight into the impact of WWII on Russia. I could feel the depth of the passion between Tatiana and Alexander from the first time they saw each other, and I never lost that feeling through the entire book. Her vivid descriptions of the people and events made me feel like I was right there with them the entire time. I can't wait for her next novel.

This book is well worth the price of the hardback.

Summary: The Bronze Horseman
Review: THE BRONZE HORSEMAN The love and denial and pain endured against the harsh brutal environment of Russia was incredible. Magnificent!

The depth of feelings this book evoked was a wonderful ride. Blossoming love under white nights hypnotised me. Unrelenting love seduced me. Self-sacrifice tormented me, denial frustrated me, and the hardship and destruction just overwhelmed me. I was stunned. Tragic. Russia. She broke lives and spirits from the beginning to end. It was was entwined in her peoples very existence. It was inevitable. It was believable. It is the only book I have read, just to start again at the beginning. I was enraptured. I can pick it up and read chapters because it is such great writing. I love the tormented passionate characters and the continuous development of the story. What a ride! Please let there be a sequal.

Summary: Riveting
Review: In Paullina Simons novel the reader is presented with a story of heroic and passionate proportions set against the tragedy of World War Two in Russia. Through the story of Tatiana and Alexander and their struggles to survive, the realism of the war and all it's suffering was poignantly shown. This novel is truly riveting. The Bronze Horseman is the best novel I've read in years! To the author, please, please write a sequel!

Summary: A BOOK TO CHERISH
Review: ...I could not put this book down.I have recently finished the Bronzed Horseman and feel exhausted and emotionally drained. Meal times were a huge inconvenience whereas bath time allowed me to escape to the characters, whom I still can't stop thinking about, days after the book has ended.Strange to think one can be so obsessed with fictitious characters that I then took them in to the background of my normal day until I could pick up my book again. It must surely be the power of the author. The war ravaged streets of Leningrad were no less real thanks to the detail expressed. Finally, rarely have I read a novel so beautifully sensual. Thank you for, a book to cherish and one to gift a friend. I can only hope there is a sequel to bring these characters to life again.

Summary: A Book to Cherish
Review: I could not put this book down. I have recently finished this wonderful novel and felt exhuasted and emotionally drained. Meal times were a huge inconvenience whereas bath time allowed me to escape to the characters, whom I still can't stop thinking about, days after the book has ended. Strange to become so obsessed with fictitious characters that I took them in to my normal day, in the back of my mind until I could return to the book. It must surely be the power of the author. The scenario of war ravaged Leningrad and its starving people was no less real thanks to the detail and feelings expressed. Rarely have I read a book so beautifully sensual. I say thank you, and hope a sequel will bring these characters alive once more. Normally I would read another novel immediately but at present I am content to enjoy the lingering impressions of the Bronze Horseman for a little while longer. Definately a book to gift a friend and a book to cherish.

Summary: The Bronze Horsemen took my breath away!
Review: This novel was masterfully written. An overflowing feeling of love and passion mixed with the woe of war. Paullina Simons writes her main characters as if she has known them her whole life. The reader will have a hard time believing they are not real. I felt saddened when I finished the book. I wanted it to go on forever!

Summary: The Bronze Horseman : A Novel
Review: I have read previous reviews and can't believe anyone gave this book less than 5 stars. I totally agree with Barbara Sparenberg in her review and if she read it on the plane home from the UK it must have seemed the shortest flight ever. This book is essentially not about Russia or World War II but a wonderful love story interwoven with the depreviations of a family and community at war. Nice to know I have a kindred spirit across the Pond. I can't wait to read another of Paullina Simons books.

Summary: Awake All Night
Review: I loved this book. I picked it up from a supermarket shelf on the basis of a quick read of another Paullina Simons novel. What a treat. The very gradual build up of attraction and passion between the two main characters is gripping. The contrast between the warm human elements and the devastation wreaked upon Leningrad during WW2 serves to heighten the tension. This book evokes feelings of love, pain, tragedy and passion. It made me smile, cry, gasp - and it kept me awake until the small hours and made me wake early to continue reading. I would thoroughly recommend this book for a long, quiet weekend, or for a great holiday read - as long as your companions don't mind being ignored until you've finished!
