Summary: Read SIMPLE ABUNDANCE instead.
Review: After reading SIMPLE ABUNDANCE, I expected SOMETHING MORE to be an enjoyable and soul-expanding sequel. Unfortunately, SM offered nothing new. Most of the book seems to be centered around divorce, marriage, and finding the perfect man. While this is a fine topic for books about love and romance, I expected SOMETHING MORE to have more to do with the individual reader and her relationship with herself. Since I have never been married, I found that the extensive sections about marriage and divorce did not relate to me. After reading SIMPLE ABUNDANCE, SOMETHING MORE seemed to be "something less."

Summary: Extremely deep, intense, and to the core of my Spirit
Review: I just now finished the book. I don't even know how to put into words how it has affected me. It is so rich with thoughts, with wisdom and helpful words to every woman, not just those standing on the brink of marital disaster. It has made me think about my relationship, my needs and desires, the things I want in the future and where I have been in the past. I feel that I need time to digest all of this, profound as it is, and I always go back and read through my favorite self help books time and time again. And as I go, I use a pen to underline my favorite parts, things that hit me in the gut or between the eyes;sentences that I want to remember and show to my friends and go back to time and time again. That is what this book has meant to me. I am looking forward to making my discovery journal, with all the "props"--the photos, mementos, magazine pictures, quotes, and memorbilia. I should find that not only fun but very helpful in discovering SOMETHING MORE. Thank you, Sarah for helping me in my journey and I do not expect it to be like instant coffee--it is going to take me to a place where I am fearful of going, and I try to hide from ME--I, indeed, am buried under so terribly many tons of dirt, and the excavation process is going to be slow but worthwhile. Again, I applaud you for sharing your thoughts and insight. I am sorry that I did not see you on Oprah too. Having been a single (divorced) woman for about five years, I can so much identify with what you write. I think that one of the best things about being single is that you are forced to look inward, and it is the grief that takes you there. It is hell floating around life in the dark cloud of depression, of hating who you are. But no longer. I will work out my SOMETHING MORE. Blessings, Donna

Summary: A must read for every woman in America!
Review: I have found this book to be one of the best of its genre. Sarah is right on the money describing women's lives and how we so often lose sight of who we really are. I just finished reading it and will, now, begin it again. It will take its place alongside Simple Abundance and will be referred to often. Kudos Ms. Breathnach for your insight!!

Summary: Thoughtful and enlightening
Review: I have never read "Simple Abundance" but will probably do so after having read "Something More". I enjoyed the style of writing, the sharing of such deep emotion. I found myself everywhere in the book and while I mourned the loss of my own authentic self, on these pages I found bits and pieces to begin the process of being who I truly am. I am not the same woman I was when I began reading the book, and, thank heavens, will never be again! I recommend this book for anyone feeling in their heart they know there is "something more" but can't quite put it into words or figure it out alone.

It is a book that will help you to heal from the inside out.We all need the healing touch of love and the writer doesn't skimp on MEGA DOSES of love and compassion throughout her book. Summary: Yes, Virginia, there is something more, but not in SM:EYAS.
Review: I'm glad I read this one in the store. Sure, there's a lot of truth in it -- that's what cliches are all about. If you want or need to hear it again, fine; decent writing is more pleasant to read than some of what's out there. But how much chicken soup and small stuff do we need? Give me the meat in Man's Search for Meaning, The Samurai's Garden, or Undoing Depression. From Victor Frankl's MSFM: "A human being is not one thing among others; 'things' determine each other, but 'man' is ultimately self-determining. What he becomes -- within the limits of endowment and environment -- he has made out of himself. In the concentration camps, for example, in this living laboratory and on this testing ground, we watched and witnessed some of our comrades behave like swine while others behaved like saints. Man has both potentialities within himself; which one is actualized depends on decisions but not on conditions." From Richard O'Connor's UD: "Having been told from childhood on that we are our brother's keeper, we can't abandon that burden without feeling that we have failed. We can anesthetize ourselves with alcohol or television, we can amass the trappings of success, but we live a meaningless life....You can't cure unhappiness by giving all your money away; but if you can cultivate a true generosity of spirit, you can't be depressed....By reaching out to someone in pain, maybe to show you understand, maybe just to express sympathy and support...the sufferer is comforted. But the person who took a risk and reached out is enriched. She's learned that she herself, just by virtue of being herself, has something valuable to share....The paranoid, self-centered 'I've got mine' outlook leads to depression; the expansive, inclusive 'Let's work together' attitude, though uncomfortable and challenging, is life-affirming and joyful."

Summary: Gutsy! A must for those willing to travel back to get ahead.
Review: How many of us are willing to open ouselves up to public scrutiny? Ban Breathnach gives us a tool to explore our own deep hidden impediments to moving on in life by revealing her own past challenges and showing us the way. You'll either love this book or hate it. If you love it, it's because it reaches beyond the Simple Abundance of life to help you grasp what's missing in this crazy world we live in. If you hate it, you just aren't willing yet to be honest with yourself. You've taken the gloves off this time Sarah. Thanks.

Summary: For people with more money than sense!
Review: When I got to the section where her daughter is complaining because the author has not been to even ONE of her soccer games for the entire season - that was it! This writer needs to get her head out of the archaeology dig and back into real life. Everything is so self-centered and narcissistic. This is ok in small doses but can unbalance your real life if taken to extremes. If you MUST read this - save your money and check it out of the library. It is not a keeper.

Review: Something More has guided my way back to the woman I once was, and can be again. My passion for life has been rekindled. I had forgotten some of the tremendous accomplishments, friendships and dreams that I have had over the years. Lost to routines, disappointments and negative thinking. This book will help all women remember their beauty and greatness. Don't be afraid to look, your life won't be the same.

Summary: Excellent Information to Change Your Life!!
Review: This book offers assistance in finding your true self and shows you practical and fun ways to get where you want to be. Sometimes you have to get past the "new age" terminology, but when you do you find wisdom, insight and humor. An excellent gift to yourself or a friend!
