Rating: Summary: An intelligent, honest approach Review: This book is a sophisticated look at one of the most common, unspoken and painful maladies experienced by women: self loathing. I totally disagree with the two reviews immediately prior to this one-- the book isn't about leaving your husband, nor is it about finding the perfect man. It is about rediscovering who you used to be, before you buried your authentic self under the expectations of others. Ban Breathnach is a wonderful storyteller, and in the context of those stories lies the clues we all need to find the person we are and the life we want. For my money, it's well worth the trip.
Rating: Summary: Bravo! Will Break Your Heart, But Heal Your Soul Review: Almost every chapter of this beautiful book broke my heart because so many of the author's insights echoed my own silent wounds. I am stunned with the power of this incredible book and will give it to as many of my friends and family as I can, just as I did with SBB's first book. But be warned. This is not a sequel or rehash to Simple Abundance. Instead, Something More is just that, a book for women brave enough to realize that each woman must live by her own truth. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that because the author ventures past the comfort zone of a lot of women to explore such sensitive issues as self-loathing and marital indifference, her critics are writing her off without reading her. This is a marvelous, courageous book, one that will break your heart in places, but heal your soul if you stay with it.
Rating: Summary: This book is a must-have for every woman. Review: A friend lent me this book and I couldn't put it down till I finished it. It seemed like Sarah was writing about me, for me. I went out and bought copies for friends and we've planned a get-together to discuss it. I love Sarah's writing style - it seems to dig deep into one's soul and "excavate" the part of us we keep well-hidden from others and even ourselves. Reading this book makes me feel there is "something more" for all of us and we owe it to ourselves to go after it.
Rating: Summary: Drivel, drivel, drivel! Review: Women of America, WAKE UP! If you want to find your soulmate, read Harville Hendrix's "Getting the Love You Want." Instead of dumping your husband, do the difficult and meaningful work required to become someone capable of intimacy. That's the only way you'll receive the love you so deeply crave. Ban Breathnach has it all wrong. Happiness in relationships is NOT about finding that one perfect man--it's about becoming that one perfect woman.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: This book simply does not speak to the reader the way Simple Abundance does (a book that I adore and read every night before bed). To those who already have a full life and are doing the Simple Abundance exercises, this book seems tedious. It feels as though the author cranked out a book just to have another book.... sort of like she's talking "at" you instead of "to" you. In Simple Abundance, the author shared herself. In this book I'm not sure who she's sharing, but it does not have an authentic feel to it.
Rating: Summary: Well put, "leave with honor, integrity and love"! Review: Thanks to Ms.Breathnach for sharing herself in this book. I couldn't get into Simple Abundance. This book I couldn't put down. She was able to put a name to some of the things I have been living with (20 years) and gave me encouragment to find myself, knowing there is "something more" out there. I have recommended this book to many friends who feel stuck in a marriage of indifference. We may not figure out the whys but we can figure out who we really are and where to go from there.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as Simple Abundance - save your money! Review: I WAS REALLY DISAPPOINTED BY THIS BOOK. i adored Simple Abundance, but found this to just be a rehash of the first book. I cannot recommend it, and I gave Simple Abundance to about 50 people for Chirstmas.
Rating: Summary: Exciting look at oneself Review: There were things that happened in my childhood that I had forgotten that I truly enjoy NOW! This book escavates memories and loves that have been buried deep down under the garbage dished out to us for many years. Activities are very revealing. You reveal yourself. Things you enjoy that you have forgotten, thoughts, visions, even smells that you'd forgotten brought you pleasure. Plus you learn how important a woman really is. How we all deserve to be content and satisfied with who we are before anyone else. It's okay....not selfish to have a healthy self. Great book. I would recommend it to every woman.
Rating: Summary: Something More or Less of a Disappointment Review: After seeing the author appear on Oprah and having read her previous book, Simple Abundance, I was prepared to thoroughly enjoy her new book. The premise of the book is excellent - one's restlessness generally bespeaks of life choices made - good and bad, consciously or unconsciously. Hoping that the author would widen the subject content to include more personal growth ideas, aside from finding your soul mate, I read the entire book, and was disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Touches the soul even more deeply than Simple Abundance! Review: Hats of to Ms. Ban Breathnach!! She has outdone herself with "Something More," which, with "Simple Abundance" being such and incredible piece of work, I didn't think could be done. "Something More" takes the search for self which began in "Simple Abundance" several steps farther. It gently guides women towards who they were destined to be. I loved every word and am now reading it for the second time. Any woman who reads this book will find specific areas that seem to be written directly for her. Thank-you, Ms. Ban Breathnach, for such a wonderful, life-changing masterpiece.
