Rating: Summary: Good ideas - but this diet is NOT for everyone Review: My doctor perscribed this diet...I followed it religiously and took the proper supplements. I was extremely fatigued - longer than the book said I should have been. Towards the end of the Induction diet, I became violently ill and had to stop. I must be one of the 5% of people who can't be on the diet...but it seems to work for everyone else. I recommend easing into the heavy duty protein consumption slowly (before starting the Induction diet) if you are not normally a meat eater. CONSULT A DOCTOR, as this program can be a serious shock to your system.
Rating: Summary: What about me? Review: I'm very interested in beginning the Atkins diet. However I only have about 35 lbs to lose. it seems that the comments are mostly from people that began quite overweight. Does it work as well for people with only minimal wieght loss required?Pleas E mail me with success stories from anyone with lesser weight loss goals. and if possible include success stories (or unsuccessful) and time frames if their is a dramatic difference. Rating: Summary: Almost a religious experience - it has changed my life Review: I started the diet two months ago and have lost 30 pounds. The diet takes no willpower and I lost an average of slightly over three pounds a week. I feel great! My wife, family and friends can't believe I'm losing so much weight. I will stay on the diet in some form for the rest of my life. I had been gaining weight steadily since college and diets just did not work. I wish I had known about the diet years ago but I believed that only a low calorie diet could work. After the reading the book and beginning the diet it was as if a great secret was revealed to me. Although you should read the book, the diet boils down to two rules. Eat as much protein and fat as you need not to be hungry. As for carbohydrates, start very close to zero and adjust the amount based on the weight loss you experience. If you're not losing, cut the carbs. if you're losing too fast, add a few carbs. Thank you Dr. Atkins for changing my life.

Rating: Summary: IT HAS HELP ME, BUT NOT A BIG WEIGHT LOSS Review: I have now been on diet for 15 days and have only lost 5lbs. I have kept my carbohydrates to under 20grams per day. I do not know what I am doing wrong. This has been quite disappointing. I got so excited in the beginning, reading about all the stories of people losing so much weight in the induction, but this has not happen to me. I do love all of the meat,cheese & eggs that you can eat. I am going to stay on this for 3 more weeks and hope something begins to happen. The whole concept does make sense. I do go back everyday and look through the book and try and pickup on different things that I might have missed the first time. Also, if you go and get the ketosis strips that does help. Does anyone out there have any helpful hints that might speed up this weight loss?????
Rating: Summary: Nothing else has worked for me Review: This is by far the easiest diet I've ever been on (although it's not really a diet, but a new way of life). I had 20 lbs. to lose and have lost 16 so far.I've been on the diet for 3 months and was exercising 4-5 times per week before I started. I have recommended the book to dozens of friends who have all had tremendous success with it, where they had not succeeded with any other type of diet plan in the past. God bless you, Dr. Atkins!
Rating: Summary: It is working for me and 3 other people I know! Review: The first week I lost 9 lbs. My husband and I are following the diet and enjoying it. We still can't believe we can eat this way and lose weight. We haven't had any problems (health) and are really concious of what we eat when we are out at restaurants and with friends. It's not even hard to say no to potatoes and bread. Two of my friends are on it, one has lost at least 25 lbs and looks great. The other one is doing great also. We'll continue to eat and exercise (it's still important to do this - even if its walking) and hope we can report back later.
Rating: Summary: Incredible diet with incredible results Review: I have been on the diet,(lifestyle change) for 3 weeks now. I have lost 15 pounds, and more importantly have more energy than ever before. I plan on sticking with it for the long haul. It is medically sound and easy to stay on. It's nice to fit into clothes I haven't been able to wear for years. One important note, TAKE the supplements Dr. Atkins recommends. Co-Enzyme Q, Chromium, Carnitine, and the high dosage multi-vitamins are very important. They absolutely work and are proven medically.
