Rating: Summary: Ho-Hum, Nothing exciting about it.... Review: I truly expected more from a great writer, this being her debut hardcover. Alas, this book is so mediocre I was simply disappointed. No intensity, cardboard characterizations, boring plot, not even good love scenes- and howard has been known for that! I can't understand why Howard has to write pages and pages describing the heroine gets "cold", then writes one page on the supposed climax of the story at the end when heroine confronts murderer. Hero is supposedly an ideal but Richard simply doesn't have the "it"-- I feel Ms. Howard is trying too much to make him an ideal hero that unfortunately he came out dull. The storyline is not original either-- sounds too much like "Dream Man". Sorry, but this book is just a great disappointment!!
Rating: Summary: Would not, Could not, Did not, put it down Review: I am and always will be a Linda Howard reader, and it is my opinionthat "Now You See Her" was above and beyond the call of duty for Ms. Howard. This story had just about every emotion on the spectrum, as par Ms. Howard. Humor. Sadness. Lust. Love. Anger. Joy. I loved it, and I have and still do recommend it to all my friends.
Rating: Summary: Great story idea.....disappointing story! Review: This was your basic paint-by-numbers, fill in the blanks plotted story. This is my first Linda Howard book. I bought the hardcover, based on the flap copy...it sounded like a great story...painter who paints murder scenes before they actually happen...Unfortunately, the story never really went anywhere. The characters were never fully developed, just predictable cardboard stereotypes. The hero was instantly in love with the heroine, so there was no real conflict or growth there. The soon to be ex-wife was cheating and promiscuous for no apparent reason. I just didn't buy into any of it, and felt a bit cheated..There were no surprises and I really would have liked to have seen the psychic element explored a little more too. The whole book overall just seemed simple and shallow....if this is representative of her work in general, I will take a pass....
Rating: Summary: Average offering from the talented Ms. Howard Review: Compared to many romantic suspense novels out there, "Now You See Her" is quite good. However, it falls short when compared to Ms. Howard's previous work. There's just not as much of the wonderful depth and complexity that makes titles like "After the Night" or "Shades of Twilight" so memorable. This book is certainly worth reading, but wait for the paperback or borrow from the library.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: Loved it! In the spirit of Nora Robert's (who is also a fave). Made the mistake of picking it up to "glance" at the first chapter at 11:00 pm and didn't put it down until 2:00 am! Not sure how I missed her until now, but glad to have a new author to read. While not the deepest mystery in the world (I think there are only 10 or so actual characters in the whole book) it was a fascinating read. Liked the twist on the "price" a psychic might pay - especially if you have someone like Richard around to warm you up. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Linda Howard has truly arrived!!! Review: As a fan of Linda Howard since she began writing for Silhouette, I can only say Now You See is one of her best. I really enjoyed reading the book. She has combined my two favorite genres into an unforgetable. When Dream Man came out, it show just how talented Miss Howard really was. Now she has shown that she is a master in the field of romantic thrillers. But I still want Chance McKenzie's story.
Rating: Summary: Linda Howard's latest not her greatest! Review: I was so excited when I received my new Linda Howard book. I started reading it immediately and didn't put it down until I was finished. However, when I put it down, I was left wanting. There was no depth to the story. I agree with several others who reviewed the book -- it felt more like a short story. You didn't get to know the characters; this could have been a story told in passing. Linda has written several great books, "After the Night", "Son of the Morning", "Dream Man" and "Shades of Twilight". I think anyone that picks up one of these books to read will be a Linda Howard fan for life. I am and can't wait until she writes another one. But I hope the next one has more to it.
Rating: Summary: Red-hot!! Must read!!! Review: I don't think Linda could ever write a bad book. This book has some sex scenes that will make you want to find someone just like Richard. The only drawback I find is that it seems to be a recycled book (a copycat of her previous book, Dream Man).
Rating: Summary: An excellent hardcover debut for an entertaining writer. Review: I read "Now You See Her" twice; once was not enough. Richard is an intriguing hero and Sweeney is a match. In addition to being a romance, it is a murder mystery. The suspense is good and the by-play between the lovers erotic and satisfying. I even liked the detectives investigating the crime. Congratulations to Ms. Howard on her hardcover debut.
Rating: Summary: A Great Read...Anyway You Look At It ! Review: "Now You See Her" was my first Linda Howard novel... but is by NO means my last ! I loved this book! I purposely kept it to read on vacation, and am glad I did. I read it in a day, and then found a bookstore by the beach and dug up another half dozen Linda Howard's novels. Sweeney is a great character, a lady whose preoccupation with her art does'nt always allow her to understand whats happening to her, but does her best to cope with the hand she's been dealt. Richard Worth is the quintessential leading man - strong, handsome, loyal, sexy and romantic. Once he realizes that Sweeney is the woman he's been looking for to give his life some meaning, he does'nt let anything get in his way. And there are plenty of obstacles - like a lover who see ghosts, and paints as yet uncommitted murders - in her sleep, not to mention the brutal murder of his soon to be ex-wife . I'm sure fans of Linda Howard's are not surprised with such a great novel, and I look forward to searching thru Amazon.com 's stock for her other available titles. A great love story, a great mystery, and a whole bunch of memorable characters. DO NOT MISS THIS ONE !!!
