Rating: Summary: This was the first time I have read LH and I'm HOOKED! Review: I just loved the combination of mystery and romance, realistic romance not the "sappy" kind. I picked this book up the night before we we going to move to a different home and read it every break I had during the day. If you are looking for an entertaining read as well as some steamy moments than this book is for you!
Rating: Summary: A Good book but not as great as her previous ones. Review: Compared to other Linda Howard books, this is a little disappointing. I usually have a hard time putting down her books once I start reading, but this one started out very slow. Too much descriptive passages and not enough character interactions. The plot and characters were interesting and unique though and the pace did pick up in the second half. But, as one other reader said, the "villian" was easily identifiable. I will still continue to read her books and would recommend them to others, but hopefully her next one will be in the same mode and pace as her previous ones.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing!!! Review: I give this book 2 stars only because the author had a good plot idea. I found the romance between the two characters awful. The plot was very weak. I have read some of her other books and enjoyed them. This came as a very big disappointment.
Rating: Summary: Once you start you can't put it down. Review: I started this book at 7 in the evening because the storm knocked out the cable. Once I did I was not able to put it down until it was finished at 2 in the morning. Ms Howard makes you see and feel everything just like you were that person. To me that makes it a sucess.
Rating: Summary: I found this book to be full of action and suspense. Review: The idea of seeing ghosts and not sure what to make of them when you're the only one to see them. This story made you stop to wonder if more people are not able to see the same things but are afraid to say anything in fear that they will be ridiculed as a loon. I have found that Linda Howard is unable to write a bad story that won't keep you turning the pages even when you're supposed to be going to bed. I have read every story that she has ever written. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Linda keep up the good work.
Rating: Summary: An enjoyable read in Linda's favorite storyline Review: I enjoyed this book, although I think sevreal of her previous books dealing with ESP/mystery/heroine in peril, were better. This book remined me to reread them!
Rating: Summary: A steamy ghost story with a unique plot Review: This is the first Linda Howard book I've read and I have to say I will definitely be checking out more of her books. I enjoyed the interesting plot and the accompanying love story. Although the speed with which the characters fall in love is unrealistic, this is, after all, fiction. One word of warning, the love scenes are steamy and somewhat graphic - so caution to those who want a slow fade out and the next paragraph a change of scenary.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not bad Review: I am a huge fan of L.H., and i buy her books with my eyes closed.I read the book, and it was good, but not as good as her previous ones.First,i think the name "Paris sweeney"is a little bit over the edge. And then ,it s easy to guess who the killer is.Also,we all know, how L.H is great in writing the love scenes, but in ading the crude words,i don t think it was a good idea.Anyway, all in all,L.H will always be the best.
Rating: Summary: I RATE THIS BOOK 3 1/2 STARS. Review: The system doesn't allow us to add half-points, but my rating for NYSH is 3 1/2 stars.First and foremost, I buy Linda Howard without even reading a blurb. Doesn't matter. The lady writes circles around her peers and given that fact, I will always buy her come heck or high water. <g> However, this book seems reminiscent of another favorite author of mine (A.S.) in terms of the beginning being slow, but the plot picking up steam towards the middle. Nevertheless, I'm giving NYSH **three and a half stars** because I don't think this is one of Howard's best. I STILL WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU BUY IT! It's a good read. In fact, if another author had written it I would have given it a four. In other words, I'm rating NYSH against Linda Howard's other books (After The Night, Dream Man, Kill and Tell, Shades of Twilight,Almost Forever . . . etc.)Therefore, compared to the others, NYSH is not one of Howard's best, but when compared to other writers, NYSH could easily earn four stars from me, no prob. Bottom Line: Yes, it's worth the cover price. Most everything LH writes is. So buy the book! And when she writes something else, forget about reading the blurb. Buy it too. :-)
Rating: Summary: Not up to her other books. Review: I have and have read every one of Linda Howard's books and have enjoyed them all. Great plots, great and hot romance and great heroes and heroines (in most cases). I found this story rather silly and the love which immediately deveoped between Richard and Sweeney rather unbelieveable. It did not take a genius to determine who the villians were. To me it was obvious as soon as the crime was commited. I have come to expect much more from Ms. Howard. In my opinion her very best was Shades of Twilight and MacKenzie's Pleasure. I loved those stories and have re-read the latter several times. Hope the next book is better and up to her usual standards.
