Rating: Summary: Probably Linda Howard's Best To Date Review: I believe I've read and own almost every single book published to date by Linda Howard and I believe this to be her best to date.I initially bought the paperback and have recently ordered the hardcover since it is most assuredly one to add to my collection. Yes... the epilogue was a little lacking in substance but who cares... the story itself was A+! I'm very much looking forward to Ms. Howard's next publication.
Rating: Summary: Not that good... Review: This is my second Linda Howard book. The first was All the Queen's Men, which I thoroughly enjoyed. But this second foray into her world was not as good. To begin with, I don't much care for helpless females unless I'm reading an historical romance. So in a contemporary story, I find the helpless female role a little hard to swallow. As a result, while I didn't dislike the female character, I didn't really like her either. The romance seemed a little juvenile and rushed, and I found it hard to believe they fell for each other so quickly -- under the circumstances. Especially since both were wary about romantic relationships. By describing the romance as "juvenile" I mean that the book read like it was geared more towards YOUNG women in their late teens or early 20s, as opposed to women a little older (30ish). But in fairness, the abridgement of the audiobook version that I was listening to could have cut out some parts that could have made the romance more believable to me (but I doubt less juvenile). Aside from that, the mystery itself lacked excitement. The story read like an old movie that I'd seen a long time ago. Because the storyline didn't have any fresh ideas in it, that old time-weary story didn't work well for me. While I didn't care for this book and would not recommend it, I haven't given up on the author. Before purchasing this book, I had also purchased Dream Man -- which has received great reviews. I'll hold my judgment on the author until I've read that book.
Rating: Summary: Good story Review: I really liked Sweeney and Richard but found the mystery rather boring. It also ended rather abruptly. However, the love scenes are steamy enough to make it a satisfying read.
Rating: Summary: BORING, DON'T WASTE YOUR EFFORT, SUB-STANDARD Review: I couldn't get into this book. I read through the first 10 chapters and still was waiting for the story to take off. The characters were weak, the plot (although unique) left me cold. I had to stuggle to get through the ten chapters that I did read. I am a real big fan of Linda Howards, and this just seemed below par for her. But, I will continue to read Linda Roberts, even someone with Roberts' talent can have an off day.
Rating: Summary: Good but not up to her usual standard Review: This book is fast paced, however, I felt it was rushed towards the end. The ending was unsatisfactory, it would have been nice to read about the outcome of the last culprit behind the murder; instead there was a vague explaintion how Sweeney became a clairvoyant. The plot reminds me of Ms Howard's Dream Man, which is a much better read where the heroine was a lot stronger and the suspense sharper. Sweeney just didn't click with me and she seemed to spend a lot of her time shivering with cold or fear. For a person who had spent her whole life looking after herself, she seemed to cling on to Richard very easily. An average read.
Rating: Summary: Refreshing! Review: I loved Sweeney! I really got into her character, and then comes the great thriller. I could hardly tear my eyes off the pages. A great book!
Rating: Summary: excellent Review: I found this book to be absolutely wonderful. I started reading it during my spare timw at work yesterday, and then i went home and stayed up till 4 am to finish it. I thought it was very addicting. This was the first Howard book I have read. I would have like the book to keep going after the epilogue because it felt like there wsa more of a story to be told, but I love the story line. I also liked the way she intertwined the mystery in with the romance. I will definately be looking forward to more of her novels if they are as good as "Now You See Her".
Rating: Summary: predictable Review: in the beginning, the novel proved to keep my attention. but somewhere in the middle, i got bored. the plot became so transparent. first of all, there wasn't a wide array of suspects to consider. even the most amateur sleuth could make a reasonable guess about who the perpetrator was. i actaully skipped over many chapters just to get to the ending so i could confirm my (accurate) guess. i love a romantic suspense, but this was nothing i could sink my teeth into.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Read. Don't know her, but now addicted to her Review: I never knew Linda Howard, was looking for a mystery novel. The bookeeper recommended it. So, I read it, and can't put it down. It's so romantic, believable, yet unreal. Now, I'm reading her Kill & Tell. But this "NOw you see her", is fantastic. It's a must read for those who love romance. Modern, in today's world. Not some bygones era.
Rating: Summary: A CHARMING READ...I GREATLY ENJOYED THE STORY!!! Review: This was my first Linda Howard book and I found it wonderful! The character of Sweeney was taciturn and charming....Richard was sharp and witty. Their romance was SIZZLING! Since reading "Now You See Her" I've moved on to all of Linda Howard's books and would rank this one in her top 5! I highly recommend it for fans of passionate romance!
