Summary: Welcome to the Wonderful World of Crusie
Review: It doesn't get any better than this! The Dempsey girls turn a small town upside down with their cameras, philosophies, friends, lovers and pets! Mix in plentiful amounts of head-bangingly great sex, murder, blackmail and greed and you have one of the best novels I've read in a long time. Laughing out loud at the written word is a tribute to the author and I am prostrate before Jennifer Crusie's awesome talent to write such amazing dialogue. I immediately wanted to read everything else she has ever written! Thanks for the joyride into Temptation, Jennifer!

Summary: happy days in sunshine world
Review: I read this book yesterday(Thurs, 12th April 2001), after having an unbelievably bad week and thinking I could do with a little romance in my life. Jennifer Crusie brought it to me with a few hundred pages and a huge number of giggles. Immediately my life was brighter and things began to look shiny again.

The tale of Sophie and Phin is fast and interesting, and beyond the inevitable conclusion of boy gets girl (or girl gets boy) it wasn't at all predictable. I enjoyed it immensely, they weren't stereotypical, they weren't one dimensional and they weren't boring. I loved them. In fact I already want to read the book again and am pretty much prepared to do so. It isn't amazingly deep and it doesn't make any unfathomable statements it's just a spectacularly good read and as long as that's all you're looking for then go for it.

Anything that can turn your week around and put it back on the happy highway of life has to be good. Welcome to Temptation takes us into a world where the sex is great, the movie quotes keep on coming and the characters are all more than huggable.

I don't think I can stress how much I'd like to thank Jennifer Crusie for making this book as good as it was meant to be. For now I think I'll settle for reading it again.

Summary: Crusie is the reigning queen of contemporary romance!
Review: Jennifer Crusie is in a class by herself when it comes to contemporary romance. I laughed so hard my stomach hurt more than once while I was reading "Welcome to Temptation". Who ever heard of a funny autopsy scene? This book has one that should become a classic. I'm absolutely awed by Crusie's ability to write a sex scene that is incredibly hot but still makes you laugh out loud. This book works on so many levels - the characters are memorable, the dialogue is snappy, the plot is interesting and the core relationship sizzles.

The two main characters are hysterical contrasts. Sophie is the daughter of a con artist who has come to Temptation to make a film with her sister that may or may not be porn. Phin is the unenthusiastic mayor of Temptation who has an election on the horizon and a gaggle of nosy relatives and neighbors intent upon scrutinizing his every move. Both of them recognize the dangers of a relationship between them - she's bound to get hurt in a relationship with a "townie" and he's got to worry about the new anti-porn sentiment in town - but since Sophie's only going to be there for a few days, a light affair seems manageable. Sure enough, Sophie's stay lasts longer than anticipated and things get complicated. There's a dead body to deal with, a daughter to appease, a brother to pacify, and a mother to avoid. Funny and sweet, this is a book to savor.

Summary: A light, enjoyable read...
Review: Just finished this book, my first by the author, and I pretty much enjoyed it. It's a light-hearted book that plops you right in the middle of a small town where you feel as if you're sitting back watching what really goes on behind closed doors.

The town is full of nosey neighbors who have nothing better to do than to watch their neighbors and especially any new-comers, and speculate on what they're doing and how whatever that is will destroy the good morals of their town. They have a field day when Sophie Dempsey, who's from the wrong side of the tracks, meets up with Phinn Tucker, the town's mayor who's from the right side of the tracks. And worse yet, he's been seen going out to her place! And if that isn't bad enough, the townspeople are convinced that any video this new-comer and her sister are planning to film must be porn. Sparks fly, tongues wag, and somebody gets murdered.

Welcome to Temptation is a gossipy, fun read that's dotted with great sex and romance. Even though this isn't the type of book I normally read, it reads like a book you should curl up with on a lazy, sunny afternoon by the pool -- and don't forget the lemonade. I found it enjoyable and will likely purchase another of Ms. Crusie's books.

Summary: What a fun, sexy read!
Review: This story about two sisters who enter the small Ohio town of Temptation and wreak chaos on the lives of the townspeople is full of zany humor and sexy surprises! The story focuses on Sophie, the good sister in the Dempsey family ~~ a family known to be from the "wrong side of the tracks" and Amy, her sister, who wants nothing more than to be a movie producer.

Sophie and Amy enters the town to shoot a video for one of Temptation's own who wants to be a movie star. Only the homecoming video was turning into an erotic video and the plot thickens with the townspeople erupting into an uproar. Phin Tucker, the town's mayor, and Wes, the police chief much rather play pool but instead, are drawn into the controversy surrounding Sophie and Amy.

It is a quick read and a fun one too. There are places in the story where you laugh out loud and suddenly realize that you're in a quiet waiting room where everyone's staring at you. Oops. It is a fun, fun book to read. One I highly recommend to put on that summer reading list!

Summary: One of the BEST!
Review: "Welcome to Temptation" has to be one of the best books I've read so far. As soon as I had finished reading "Summer Sisters" I immediately went on Amazon.com to check out recomendations and found "Welcome to Temptation" and boy was I happy after I read it. Crusie combines sex, gossip, fun characters and a great plot all into one great book. This book isn't one of those fictitional books that seem so unrealistic. Crusie instead, packed the book full of real life situations and common language that anyone and everyone can relate to. Every person should go out and read this book. In Crusie's book, two sisters, Amy and Sophie Dempsey, drive into Temptation, a typical small town where gossip spreads like lightning and is the only means of excitement, and start trouble with the film they were hired to make. The film goes to new heights as more and more people of Temptation get involved. As do the reputations of the Dempsey sisters, after the rumor mill spreads the news of Sophie and Phin Tucker's (the mayor of Tempation) relationship. The book will keep you laughing, in suspense and even give you some new ideas. Go out and read it!

Summary: So fun!
Review: This book is tied with "Crazy for You" in terms of fun, energetic plot and an appealing heroine. The dialogue was quick, clever, and kept the book rolling along (too fast, unfortunately!). Not to mention, Crusie has a talent for mixing steamy sex with sweet romance, without making the relationships heavy-handed or sappy. Phin and Sophie were fabulous together. The only thing I would've liked in "Welcome to Temptation" is more of what the main characters were thinking - which Crusie did very humorously in "Crazy for You" - but all in all, this book was upbeat, funny, sexy, and had a good mystery, too. Good stuff.

Summary: A MUST read for all lovers of romance!
Review: This book will grab your attention right from the first page. A funny and sexy story about a small town that everyone can relate to. I think we have all met some of the characters from this book at some point in our lives. I found myself laughing out loud on many occasions throughout the book and the relationship between the two main characters Sophie and Phin was wonderful. Jennifer Cruise writes in a style that is fast paced and easy to read. Without a doubt this is the best book I have read this year. If you haven't read Welcome to Temptation and you love reading romance then this book is a MUST read.

Summary: The Best book ever written
Review: I would recomend this book to every woman! Its a wonderful story, and very interesting! The best Crusie book so far.

Summary: An excellent, engaging tribute to the romance genre
Review: This is a very funny book and I would venture to say that it has the potential to win over those who do not normally pick up a romance novel. Part mystery, part romantic comedy, "Welcome to Temptation" succeeds on both counts. The characters are always interesting if sometimes devious. Sophie and Phin are a pleasure to follow, and even the minor characters and side stories sparkle with humor. Not normally a fan of the romance genre, I am looking forward to reading Crusie's other novels. I will say that the ending was a bit too sappy for my tastes but that should definitely not detract anyone from the entertainment! Anyone looking for a lighthearted and engaging read should give this one a try. Those who are repulsed by explicit sex scenes should avoid this one but I must say - you don't know what you are missing!
