Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down!! Review: This book was definetely one of those I couldn't put down...it was refreshing and interesting, keeped me reading even on vacation. I was almost sad when I got to the end because I had to let it go. The characters were all colorful and different from any that I had read lately. I had never picked up a Cruise novel and now I would pick one up without giving it a second thought. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a little bit of mystery along with romance and fun sex scenes.
Rating: Summary: Chino reader Review: As far as I'm concerned this book only has one major flaw. It actually has the nerve to end.
Rating: Summary: Darkly Funny Review: I love Crusie. She has such a dark sense of humor, and "Temptation" was no exception. With a side-splittingly funny beginning (love that water tower!), this book starts on a hilarious ride that explores small towns and their denizens, and the lives of the characters in all of their imperfections. Most of all, the book looks at the difference between security and risk, and shows that sometimes the things that seem safest are the most dangerous, and those risks that look frightening are the safest of all.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed!! Review: After reading the many great reviews for this book, I expected to enjoy this novel. I really wanted to like this book but I was very disappointed. I love humor but I found nothing funny about a town filled with people who were obnoxious, self-centered, shallow and just plain mean. After reading 150 pages, I was ready to quit but since this was my first Jennifer Crusie novel, I decided to be completely fair with the author and finish the book. I hoped that Phin and Sophie's relationship would redeem the book but I found Phin's "I don't care" attitude annoying and Sophie's guilt complex boring. The frequent use of the "F" word didn't bother me in most instances but there were times when the author could have substituted other words ( especially when Phin was talking to his mother). Another disappointing factor were the love scenes. Most reviewers described them as hot, hot, hot. If you blinked during most of them you would have missed them. If you really want hot love scenes try Linda Howard's "After The Night" or "Heart of Fire". By the time I was near the end, I could have cared less about the outcome and skimmed the last few chapters. If you feel you must read this book, I would recommend checking it out of the library. It was not worth the price of a hardcover.
Rating: Summary: The funniest autopsy I ever read Review: Really: a funny autopsy along with lots of other craziness makes this book well worth the price. It's one of those you know you are going to keep around to read again when you need a good laugh. One thing that worries me is that I think I recognize some of the characters from the book.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyed others more Review: Jennifer Crusie has an outstanding sense of humor, evident in her previous books and in this one as well. It is what captured my attention to her writing. Laughs aloud abound when you read her books. Hilarious plots, memorable personalities for both the leading male and female characters, and romance that makes you absolutely sigh. However, in Welcome to Temptation, though she has included the above-mentioned characteristics, she also lowered the credibility of her writing by including the "f" word so many times. A writer with her ability could have found other words to convey the same feelings. I felt Phin's language spoiled his character and made Sophie look like a desperate woman with low self-esteem.
Rating: Summary: Cruise Control! Review: If you liked Crusie's previous books, you'll like Welcome to Temptation, too. The good parts are really good and the rest is interesting enough to hold your attention. While I enjoyed Truly Madly Yours more, I must admit that the characters in this book is more three dimensional -- particularly the Phineas T. Tucker. The plot is more complex than Crusie's others, but the steamy scenes are still guaranteed to fog up your glasses.
Rating: Summary: Temptation is THE place to be! Review: "Welcome To Temptation" was pretty cool. I seem to like Sophie the best, with Dillie in close second. Some of this book was quite boring and it did take me pretty long to read it. I think I liked Jennifer's other two books better than this one.
Rating: Summary: Welcome to Temptation Review: This was a thoroughly entertaining story with wonderfully intelligent but slightly twisted characters. I listened to the entire, unabridged version in one self-indulgent day. The audio version was excellent and I look forward to more audiobooks by Jennifer Cruise!
Rating: Summary: The best yet! Review: Jenny Crusie is just the best. While Cinderella Deal remains my sentimental favorite, this book is definitely her best work to date. Can't wait for the next one!
