Summary: Wonderful, engaging, emotional read
Review: I simply love Barbara's latest novels. I have been a fan since her early writings, but her latest novels show her maturity. The vinyard was engaging and emotional. Just wonderful. I read it in a day. Keep up the good work Barbara.

Summary: Trite, trite, trite - HELP!
Review: I struggled through this book - my first Delinsky book. I read it because my book club wanted to read it. I almost didn't make it through the entire book and I wonder what the other book club members will have to say. For me, it was like sitting in front of the TV watching a bad daytime soap opera. I found it to be a waste of time and I was happy that the length of the book was the only real challenge for me. I thought Olivia's character - she sleeps with Simon after only a month of staring at one another from across the lawn - was weak and uninteresting, sappy and whiny. To top it off, she and Simon sleep in the same bed with the 10 year old daughter in the next room and this is considered a great romance!! Pullease. I can't think of a single thing other than perhaps the discussion of how the grape vines ripen that was interesting to me. Yuck. I'm on to The Da Vinci Code - THANK GOD!
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME - READ A GOOD BOOK.

Summary: I Loved This Book!
Review: I usually read mysteries and suspense so this one was a step out of familiar territory . . . and I loved it. Most books that I read I either sell or give away, but this one I plan to keep.

Summary: Nice Honeymoon reading.
Review: I wasn't too sure just how much time I would actually spend reading on my honeymoon, but both of us decided to take a book to read. I picked up "The Vineyard" at Costco because we were married at a Vineyard in CA. I was pleasantly surprised that I truely enjoyed the book. It was fun to read, and kept me wanting to know more about the characters and what was going to happen next. I was still reading after we got home and couldn't put it down until it was done. I plan to read more by Barbara Delinsky very soon.

Summary: another great one
Review: I won't go over plot...the other reviewers have already done so. I just wanted to add my own agreement to how wonderful this new book is. Like another reviewer, I tried my best to read the book slowly, but before I knew it, the book was over.

What I have liked about Barbara Delinsky's books, and particular the last few---Coast Road, and Lake News, it that I so easily find myself immersed in the setting. Many authors make this a minor part of the book, but she just draws me in to where I can picture myself part of the book. And after each book, I'm ready to move to the location of the setting.

The characters are wonderful although I found Tess somewhat annoying. I especially enjoyed Tess, because like me, she is a dreamer.

Summary: Enjoyable, but predictable
Review: It's been a few weeks since I finished this novel and have decided that although enjoyable, it's not the best I've read this year. I loved each of the characters, the setting and the story, which held my interest to the very end.

This book deals with relationships between various Seebring family members and close friends. It also touches on the idea that as in real life, not all IS as it SEEMS. Unless it's your relationship, it may not have the dynamic that you think it does.

Although a good book, this one does not touch on family relationships as well as "My Mother's Daughter" by Judith Henry Wall.

Summary: It was good - not great, but good.
Review: Okay, I have yet to read another Barbara Delinsky book, so I only have other authors' writings to compare to. The overall story was easy to read, entertaining and realistic - the characters were likable, and the premise was generally believable. It just seemed to - generic - for me, I guess. No outstanding characters - Olivia, the main, was the typical single mother hurt by men and determined to make it on her own. Natalie was the matriarch whose work went unacknowledged for most of her life. I felt like I had met all of these people before, but maybe that was the idea. The climax of the story was great, and while I expected it to happen (I won't give anything away, I promise!) - it was done with finesse. Overall, I would like to read another Barbara Delinsky book, if only to compare notes.

Summary: A warm, fluffy tale
Review: Olivia and Tess moves to a Rhode Island vineyard ~~ to help Natalie write a memoir about her life for her children. Carl, the former manager and Natalie are also planning a wedding ~~ which Natalie's children heartily disapproves of because their father had only been dead for six months ~~ and this is just the beginning of a fun novel.

This novel is also a look into the complex relationships between children and parents, between friends and lovers. It is not a deep, engrossing book ~~ but it will do for a satisfying read. It isn't a book that will stay with you forever ~~ it is what I call a warm, fuzzy read. It is predictable what's going to happen ~~ but it is a sweet and tender story.

If you like a romance novel with a few how-tos thrown in, then you'll like this one. If you despise fluffy reading, then don't pick this one up.
