Rating: Summary: Great read..... Review: Couldn't put this book down. Definately relates to todays world which made it all the more interesting.
Rating: Summary: Regression to the mean Review: This book lends further credence to Galton's principle of "regression to mediocrity." Not only does Mr. Clancy give readers a feeble conclusion to his tangled plot, but he also managed to give the impression that the reader is in a video game, with the end of each chapter leading to a higher level of difficulty for Mr. Clark and his team. I was one of those tricked by the "TOM CLANCY" on the front cover of this book. If you want to be entertained while getting some insight about the world we live in, get a good history book. That would be a better use of your time and money. To Mr. Clancy, thank you for sharing with us your exceptional stories, but I think your Ryan and Clark franchise has already ran out of steam.
Rating: Summary: It's Clancy, but I wouldn't call it one of his best Review: Rainbow Six is a good buy for any avid reader of Clancy. He does a nice job of paying attention to detail, but not like in the Jack Ryan series. Unlike others that I talk to, I enjoy reading entire chapters on how and why the bomb detonated like it did. There is detail, but not nearly where I would like it to be. I like the idea of having a spin off of John Clark books, but the references to "the President", who all who read Tom Clancy know is Jack Ryan, became distracting. I expected at least maybe a slight role for good old Jack, but there never was one. I also found the end to have high suspense, but there wasn't that good old drag out knock down fight at the end that I always enjoy so much. And finally, the plot was too over the top to be believable. Most books that I read by Clancy have plausible plots, but this was just a little over the top for me. Even with all of these "problems", I would recommend it to an avid Clancy fan. If your looking to read a Clancy book for the first time, I recommend something like Patriot Games, or Red Storm Rising, you'll get a better taste for what this author can really do.
Rating: Summary: Very good...but Review: This novel is filled with action. But unfortunantly that is because it is so long. There were too many dull points in the book, and it had a terrible anti-climax. The final battle was so boring! But still, Clancy writes a good scene, none the less.
Rating: Summary: Rainbow Six Review: If you are in to suspenseful novels with surprising twists, this novel is for you! From start to finish, possibly one of Tom Clancy's best. It gives details and keeps you in tune the whole time, never leaving the reader in the dark and simultaneously biulding a plot to keep any reader interested foir the duration. Very well done!
Rating: Summary: Well, it is GOOD. Review: This was my first Tom Clancy novel and till date, definitely the best. The plot is good and the action thrilling. Even though I have read Tom Clancy's other titles, I think this is the Best of the lot... and definitely better than the PC game.
Rating: Summary: Rainbow Six Review: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six is ingenious. I give this book a good rating, because of the concept and the action. This book is by far the most thrilling book I have ever read. Rainbow Six had me on the edge of my seat. This book also got made into a video game, and for that it would have to be a great book. Another reason I think this book is good is because of the characters are believable. This book has a great sequel. So I give this a 10 out of 10. Read this book and feel the action.
Rating: Summary: Too far-fetched Review: ...Clancy undoubtedly is good action writer and a writer who knows the technological gadgetry that goes with the covert operations game. This he uses to good effect. However, I found most characters unidimensional at best, and although Clancy attempts at times to get beneath the skin of the protagonists, in my opinion, he does not succeed very much. Again, in an effort to build a story, he uses too many coincidences, and simplification of events. How else would you explain the fact that Popov was identified because the discarded passport was located due to a malfunctioning trash-can,...Far far too far-fetched! And one last irritiant, why does Clancy have to use '/' so often. Surely if he can last through 740 pages, he can do more than slash?...
Rating: Summary: Entertaining... Review: In Rainbow Six the reader once again meets Clancy's 'other' main character, John Clark. In Rainbow Six Clark is much older than he was in 'Without Remorse', and he now heads a secret, international, anti-terrorism coalition called Rainbow Six. The purpose of Rainbow Six is to fight terrorism, wherever it may occur, with soldiers of many nations. The men and women of the Rainbow Six task force are from all over the world, and each one brings a specialty to the team. Throughout the course of the book the reader follows the team as they respond to a strange, increased presence, of terrorism across the globe. And as to what is really going on, it is only a matter of time until our heroes find out and come to save the world in the nick of time. The plot of this book, while entertaining, is laughable at times and seems like something straight out of a James Bond movie. And, as a previous reviewer stated below, may be a little offensive to the people of GreenPeace and other environmental protection groups. But given the fact that it is very entertaining, and done well, I consider it worth checking out if you're a Clancy fan.
Rating: Summary: Love me some Clancy Review: I listen to the audiotape/s read by David Duke and i must say that Duke did Clancy well. I first became familiar with Duke with the audiotape/s of Plum Island. I knew that I would love Clancy read by Duke. Thanks Duke for not disappointing me. Rainbow Six is a thrilling story about rescuing the good guys and retiring (killing) the bad guys. The Navy Seals come to mind when I think about the types of rescues that were featured in this book. I am glad that I did not have to read this book as 700 pages would have been a bit much. I hearby recommend to all the readers of books. if you feel as I do about good but lengthy books, get the audiotape/s instead.
