Rating: Summary: An entertaining and unexpected comback for Captain Kirk! Review: Anything is possible in the world of Star Trek, especially forCaptain Kirk. With William Shatner as the author, it shows a side ofthe Captain that only Shatner himself could portray. Kirk couldn't let Spock be the only one who could perform miracles and come back from the dead. Kirk also reafirms his friendship with Jean Luc Picard and challenges the odds in an adventure that could only be STAR TREK. This is a "must read" for any Star Trek Fan.
Rating: Summary: The ultimate mission performed by the ultimate ST crews! Review: I've read a number of ST books throughout my life. I am a fanof both Classic ST and STNG. This book, though, is the best that Ihave ever read. The way Shatner combines Classic ST, STNG, and even STDS9 is all what ST fans would ever hope for--the two most ultimate Star Trek captains performing a joint mission, assisted by their closest crewmembers. The two generations finally become one in, this, I feel, Shatner's greatest Star Trek novel.
Rating: Summary: The end(?) of Kirk as it should have been!! Fantastic! Review: First Contact -vs- The Return ...? I don't know if Paramountmade the right decision. Although First Contact was great, The Returnwould have been better for the big screen. Awesome book with a more realistic interaction between the two Enterprise's crew. People seem to forget that the two Trek eras called for different approaches to solve problems. The Return does a very good job at showing the normal tension that would exist between the old and new crew of the Enterprise plus Julian Bashir. For all of us that have been confused by transwarp drives and Borg travel, The Return does a very good job explaining and illustrating with words the way transwarpping would look and work. Check out the Transwarp Borg station! Also note that the Federation DOES get a hold of a Borg transwarp drive. Lastly, the Romulan-Borg relationship is played out perfectly--neither party would be trustworthy. Shatner has written a great Trek book, again.
Rating: Summary: The ultimate Star Trek book in the incredible saga. Review: This book is one of the most innovative Star Trek books I haveever read. I especially liked the Monitor, a ship that is incontinuation of the Defiant series (of DS9). This is a real warship to fight just such alliances like the Borg and Romulans. It is also equiped with a cloaking device. Kirk got a fitting death instead of falling off a cliff. And another interesting twist is the federation capturing a transwarp engine. This book was definitely the best trek book written. Look forward to the sequel.
Rating: Summary: Get This Book Review: A great tale, expertly writen. A lot of suspense
and drama with a good portion of action. William
Shatner Seems to have made himself an ultra strong
super intelligent brute to such an extent that his abilities are not very believable. Good !BORG! book though.
Rating: Summary: Legends truly never die... One of the best Trek novels ever! Review: A return by Kirk is no surprise to any true Trekkie, but tobe written by Shatner himself, after The Ashes of Eden novel, all onecan say is: Excellent!!! From the attack on the remains on Veridian III, to the Borg/Romulan alliance, to the Defiant class ship renamed Enterprise, this novel defines Kirk in all his glory as the various prominent figures from the Original Series, Next Generation, and even DS9 all converge to stop the new alliance and try and defeat the Borg at their core in the depths of the Delta Quadrant. Heart stopping action and adventure from one end of the galaxy to the other!
Rating: Summary: This book rocked Review: I have recently read Ashes of Eden. The Return filled in alot of things that left you hanging in AOE. Even though Shatner had to co-authers, he still got the book written. It was one of the best Star Trek books I've ever read, and I've read about 40 of them or more (the one where Spock finds out about his son is really "facinating"). If you ask me I would rate this book well above the rating system that is provided. "Way so go William!"
Rating: Summary: The bewigged, paunchy, cheesy ham tries to write... Review: Mr Shatner (a god unto himself) has deigned to generously share with us his vision of just how wonderful and attractive to women he is. Surprise surprise! He wasn't REALLY killed off in his last movie! He was obviously hoping to squeeze a few more million out of the franchise by having this homage-a-moi turned into a movie. Thank God they didn't. The book is actually well written (he had two adept co-authors) but the plot is a old, fat, bald man's dream to be the teen idol he never was. He is particularly mean in his subtly cutting attacks at his former co-stars, via their characters. Time to give up, Bill..
Rating: Summary: Truely "STAR TREK: GENERATIONS" Review: This book really brings back the first ENTERPRISE. This should have been the basis of a movie showing the two crews on a mission against the Federation's greatest enemy: the BORG. I loved it and found it exciting. I couldn't put it down as I couldn't wait who or what would show up next! The only down side was the conflicts between them....but a great end (maybe) to JAMES T. KIRK.(not by falling off a cliff
Rating: Summary: Forget this book... Watch Star Trek:First Contact instead... Review: One of the worst Star Trek books I have ever read. TO sum it up, I dont buy it! This book makes no sense. We are lucky that this book never got be made a movie. THank God First Contact did!!!!
The books breaks all the rules... Borg and Romulan alliance????? Errr???? Spock getting angry??????
Lots of more that kind of crap.....
And also Shatner critized Star Trek:Generations as being having cameos for the old trek memebers. Well this books does that too, actually everyone in there is like that. What am I getting is nothing much happens in this book. All they do is stand there and talk and once in while Kirk comes in and beat people up. (Kirk beating up Worf????I dont think so...)There I summeraized the plot for you. Also, there is always a cofrontation between the old trek and new trek people. BORING. A few times it is interesting but in the book it is in every scene. RIker will fight with Spock or Picard will disagree with Kirk. BORING!!!!!!!
And oh sooo predictable!!!!!!!! The old trek people fighting the new trek people is good a plot??? I dont think so, it gets soo tiring after 100 pages into it. How about both of them fighting a hard ass fight???? That would be more entertaining. Bottomline, Thank GOd WIlliam didnt get his wish to make this movie and FIrst Contact did. Forget this book
