Rating: Summary: Goldy....GET A LIFE outside of that whiny brat of yours! Review: I'm getting pretty tired of whiny, pouty, in-charge-of-it-all Arch....he's becoming quite a chip off the old block....I mean, really, if my ex-husband was beating up on me and breaking into my house, my kids would have a fit! They'd probably kill him...not whine when he landed in jail.... I liked the earlier Goldy books and I was happy when she found a great guy to marry, but, the story line with the Jerk and that bratty kid has worn pretty thin. Goldy needs to realize that catering to every one of Arch's whims does him no service....who will care when he gets into the real world and he moves out or pouts for weeks on end. I won't be reading any more Mott Davidson.
Rating: Summary: Light mystery reading & great recipes. Review: A good story to read between other more difficult to follow mysteries. Back-drop of Aspen Meadows brings the story home for me. Lighter side of mystery.
Rating: Summary: A audible delicacy! Review: Although I had not read or listened to any of her previous books. This mouth watering mystery had me seeking more of Davidsons' work (I got the book on tape.) This would make a great television series especially on the Food Network on cable.
Rating: Summary: The Grilling Season sizzles!! Review: Another great book in the "Goldy" series by Diane Mott Davidson. It has all the right ingredients - murder, humor, and recipes! I loved it! I would recommend that you read the series in order to appreciate each one. I'm always a little sorry when I finish and look forward to the next one!
Rating: Summary: Her recipes are an added bonus to a great read! Review: As usual Ms. Davidson has caught my interest with the first chapter and I couldn't put it down until the finishing line. I almost had this murderer figured out but as usual she gives it a twist at the end which totally leaves me out on the limb. Her characters are every day real people and the integrated humor is very enjoyable. I love this book and her others. My 13-year old daughter is also hooked on them. Can't wait for her next book!
Rating: Summary: I can't wait for her next book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: Authors don't come better than Diane Mott Davidson. Once I start a new book, it doesn't get put down until I find out who killed who. This was a mind boggling book, I kept changing my mind on who was the killer, but I've done that in each of her books. For anyone who had never read one of her books, YOU DON"T KNOW WHAT YOUR MISSING. Just make sure when you start her books, always start in order of publication.
Rating: Summary: I haven't had this much fun since I read Nancy Drew ! Review: Davidson is an easy read. I eagerly await each of her new books. I find it difficult to second- guess her plots. The development of her relationships with the men in her life is a twisted path, but insteresting to read. The Grilling Season won't give you nightmares-- but then you will probably finish it before going to bed.
Rating: Summary: Misses the target...but still entertains Review: Davidson's recipes are without doubt the fruit of this series. It is obvious that Davidson feels the culinary portion of her writing as she paints clear images of her cooking. This makes cooking along with the book fantastically surreal. However, the divorce and who-done-it story lines seem a bit corny rather than moving. Yet, this is a quick read. I would suggest reading one Davidson novel for the general idea and checking out the recipes of her remaining books.
Rating: Summary: An enjoyable mystery with catering sleuth Goldy Schulz. Review: Diane Mott Davidson is back on track with this entry in the Goldy the caterer series. This time Goldy discovers the dead body of her abusive ex-husband's girlfriend. Her ex is also the prime suspect. Goldy must wrestle with her conscience, as she sees an opportunity to finally have the Jerk (her ex-husband) get his comeuppance, and deals with her son's desire to prove his father innocent. Goldy decides to do what she does best, talk to people and try to discover the truth.
Rating: Summary: Diane Mott Davidson - New book good read but not up to par. Review: Diane Mott Davidson's new book, The Grilling Season,is a nice read. Goldie is at her culinary best, even sore and exhausted. However, I found Goldie's ability to "go on" in the face of her son's crititism, and all the abuse she took, a little far fetched. Also, I missed the character interaction between Tom, Goldie, and Marla, that Mrs. Davidson's previous books have evolved around. I always enjoy Goldie's gumption, but the theme for this book seemed to be exhaustion. She got very little sleep, Macquire was sick and exhausted, and every one else seemed to be up at all hours. I look forward to the next story, and hope that Mrs. Davidson gets some rest, and takes some time to explore Goldie and Tom's interaction as in the past.
