Rating: Summary: Davenport getting better Review: The more that I read the Prey series the more I like the characters. This book was a good story of a deranged killer obsessed w/a woman. As usual the killer takes Davenport through a series of adventures. Each book gets better in this series. Must read in order
Rating: Summary: Suspenseful thriller Review: This book is suspenseful and smart, with interesting characters and intriguing subplots. The dialogue seemed very real, even though it was stuffed with a lot of curses. The book ended with some of the issues seemed; it seemed as if I was being set up for a sequel.
Rating: Summary: Another good Prey-novel Review: This Prey-novel, Night Prey, is not the best I have read. But it is not a bad book, not at all. Lucas Davenport is back on the force, mostly working behind the scenes. In Night Prey he is on a hunt for a serial killer who preys on lonely women with average looks, women who nobody'll notice. The killer falls in love with a business woman, and starts stalking her. She is unaware of him, and it is not until the last part of the book she discovers what's going on, and then it is almost too late. Davenport also has to deal with a dying state-police woman, who has one goal in her life, before she dies: to catch this serial killer. The character-descriptions are not as well developed in this book as they have been in other John Sandford novels, but nevertheless, Night Prey is a fast read and it will keep you entertained while reading. It is not nail-biting exciting though, something I missed with this one.
Rating: Summary: night prey review Review: This was the fourth book I have read in Sandford's prey series. This was the best in my opinion. I enjoyed the way Sandford described the thought process of the murderer. It was a gripping story and was essentially impossible to set down. I will definately pick up more of Sandford's books to read.
Rating: Summary: Good Read Review: This was the third book from the Davenport series that I have read and easily the best. I liked the feeling of impending doom with the main characters racing against time to catch the killer before he can strike again and before one of the investigators dies of cancer. The eventual solution of this pending collision caught me by surprise. And, in case this wasn't enough, Sandford threw in a locked room murder mystery as a clever subplot. If anyone in Hollywood ever wants to bring a Lucas Davenport thriller to the screen, this would be a good one to start with.
Rating: Summary: Night Prey - Sandford Review: What can I say? Sandford got the series back on track with the gripping Winter Prey and that momentum is obviously still working for him with Night Prey. As usual (and forgive me if I sound like a broken record), the subplot is just as interesting as the main story itself. The language is straightforward, the characters well developed and the action quick. Night Prey is an entertaining and valuable addition to the Prey series.
