I have read it at least 4 times a year, since I was 10 or 12. Each time I read the book, I discover more subtleties. Watson's view, more so than Holmes, is that of an interested onlooker. Family man, husband, surgeon, an educated commentator - he lures us with his tales. Life, death, passion, revenge, murder, incest, and greed... all still in today's headlines, the writing never gets old or stale, even after one hundred years! Favorite line: To Sherlock Holmes she is always THE woman

Review: One particular story that I like in "The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes" is A Scandal in Bohemia. It is so interesting and one of the best in the book. All of the stories in this book show us some of Holmes's brilliant deductions.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Wonderful Collection Review: Sherlock Holmes isn't just for kids. I just finished reading this collection and it was an absolute delight. I wouldn't call it an absolute page-turner or a book you can't put down, but on certain evenings it can be very addictive to just keep reading.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: The Mysterious World of Sherlock Holmes Review: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is a wonderful book for the open minded. It takes you on a journey through London's city streets, throught the houses of pesents and the safes of bank owners. You travel with Holmes on his many cases and travles. Holmes is yet again assisted by his trusty companion Dr. Watson, who has yet to figure out Holmes' mysterious ways of going about his duty. In the novel you can witness Sherlock going about his buisness and try to solve the cases before he does (which rarely happens). But if you have trouble following the genious mind of Mr. Holmes he always explains how he could have possibly figured the case out. He will also express how important it is to pay attention to details. Holmes has the best set of eyes in London and uses them to their full potential in stopping thieves and robbers. As you read you see holmes narrowly escape death while he magnificantly singlehandedly outsmarts all of his opponets. His genious art of mystery is called upon by many people that range all the way from Scotland Yard in need of a priceless jewel to pesents in need of a returned goose. He treats every case with exceptional care. I personly didn't love this book like i love the Harry Potter series but it was still a respectable piece of famous literature. I'll probably continue to read some of Sir Auther Connan Doyal's work, but not anytime soon. Benjamin Boyd

This handsome 9 volume set is one of my most prized possessions. You'll find the entire canon, logically broken up into several books. It's the complete original Conan Doyle stories, they're classics, they're Sherlock!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A nice, unabridged Sherlock Review: This book is a nice, complete and unabridged edition of Doyle's most most famous novel, "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes." Although this edition is cheap, the value of the book is great. This is an excellent book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading classics. So I'd say lay off the big, expensive Sherlock Holmeses and get this one for the same, unabridged text, however, to weigh down the scale, this book has even greater value.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A classic; never forgotten Review: This book is a work of art. At first I was pretty hesitant to reading old classic mysteries and Sherlock Holmes. Now I find myself reading all sorts of classic mysteries.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: The Good and the Bad Review: this Book takes you through each mystery like you are really apart of it. in some cases it did get a little boring, but in the long run it was an overall good book.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: An obvious mystery Review: This book was o.k. but the mysteries were too obvious. The author gave it away on the second page of every story. My favorite character was Watson. He never knew what the answer to the mysteries were until Holmes figured it out.I would recommend this book to kids ages seven - nine.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Early Holmes - Before His Life Fell Apart Review: This fine collection of mystery stories showcases Sherlock Holmes' early career, when he was in his prime, before the trauma of The Hound of the Baskervilles drove him into the pit of cocaine use. In these adventures we have a robust, healthy detective champing at the bit to solve crimes; after the cocaine demon began its filthy deeds, Holmes became a mere ravaged shell of his former self, tall and emaciated, dependent upon the drug that eventually exhausted his savings and ruined his life, as happened to many Young Urban Professionals in the 1980s. The real problem is Dr. Watson's enablement in the case, he a medical doctor who did nothing to stem his friend's recreational use and subsequent addiction to this insidious drug. (Was Dr. Watson perhaps SELLING cocaine? Was he Holmes' pusher?) Enjoy this book -- and try your best to not think of the coming storm, the drug-induced disaster on the horizon.
