Summary: Both books by this title are great!
Review: Wow. Like the other books in the series, this one is outstanding. It covers some of the most heartbreaking parts of the war, and has fresh, believable characters. It is great because it brings the Civil War to a level where all can appreciate and understand it. Check out the book by Richard Moe, The Last Full Measure: The Life and Death of the First Minnesota Volunteers. It is all from diary and letter excerpts, but reads like a novel. It is great, too.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Best of the series
Review: I have read all 3 books of this trilogy and this one is the most exciting of the three. For history novel lovers, this book is captivating.

You do become drawn in as the author describes the battle of Yellow Tavern where JEB Stuart becomes mortally wounded and as the war comes to a close at Appotmataox.

Although the author is still learning his style or writing, I truly believe The Last Full Measure will keep you interested until the end.

Summary: The last full measure of mediocrity
Review: I still cannot understand how this fellow should be allowed to cash in on the genius of his father. The Killer Angels is a masterpiece work. If this is the only way the son can make a living-by cashing in on the brilliance of his father to write these pale cut and paste forgeries-then God help us as readers who waste the twenty dollars. Why can't we cherish the great work as opposed to being subjected to the K-Mart selling of the TRILOGY. There is no trilogy. There is only the KILER ANGELS from this family.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent!
Review: The Last Full Measure is a great war novel, every bit as good as The Naked and the Dead, The Triumph and the Glory, and Unto This Hour.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great reading for all who love the Civil War
Review: This book is the best Civil War book written by Jeff Shaara. I have read The Killer Angels and Gods and Generals and I loved them both. I like the way that both of the Shaaras wrote their books from the viewpoint of the people actually fighting. Shaara is a master of words, and makes you feel what the characters are feeling. He showed the war as it was during the last years of the war. After I finish The Last Full Measure, I'll probably go back and read them all over again!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Only an un-informed reader could rate this less than 5 Stars
Review: A master work by the son of a master writer. Jeff Shaara could easily be an unknown, non-writer. We need to count our blessings as readers of historical fiction that he was convinced to pick up his father's work & continue.

Summary: Civil War buff or not a must read, an enlightning read.
Review: Truly one of the best if not the best writtings on the Civil War done in a unique way. You feel as if you are actually there, standing beside Robert E. Lee or Longstreet. Capturing as realistically as possible the atmosphere of combat and the terrible results. I have also gotten a greater insight into the causes of the Civil War and the strong feelings aroused in the North and South which have lasted for so long. The Civil War is "A Great American Tragedy" which should never be forgotten by anyone because of the tremendous lessons the Civil War taught us. This book and the two companion books should be become a part of our childrens history curriculum.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: His story is action packed and full of ideas
Review: Jeff and Mike Shaara are one of the best in writing on the civil War. I am into the Civil War myself and enjoy every minute reading your thought out descriptions on the battles and the pictures of whats going on. This is a brilliant book in which has superb talent on every word. This is one book I have used to get all sorts of information off of. It's a great provider in information and teaches one the skill in having to fight these battles and the tragic sorrow each soldier faced while fighting. Great books for people who enjoy the Civil War! I'm 13 years of age and will never put this book down since it is so good. Brilliant writing by Jeff and his father Mike Shaara. ***** 5 stars way way up!!!

Summary: The best Civil War novel out there!
Review: I love the Shaara trilogy, and have been obsessed with the Civil War ever since I read Michael Shaara's novel "The Killer Angels". His son, Jeff Shaara, has completed that story by presenting two novels in addition that show as much attention to emotional detail and historical accuracy as his father's Pulitzer Prize winner. But while "The Killer Angels" is generally the most highly acclaimed novel of the trilogy, indeed, of the entire historical fiction genre itself, I found "The Last Full Measure" to be the best read I have experienced. I also gained a whole new perspective of Ulysses S. Grant, who Shaara has made his central Union character of the book, one that I have never gotten from the "legitimate" history books out there. The idea of actually getting into this man's head and reading Shaara's interpretation of his thoughts and feelings....it's astounding! He was the only Union commander who actually knew what he had to do to defeat Lee, and he did it. Oh, and the depiction of Lee! A very sad section of the book; Lee continuously has the fighting spirit in him, and suspects that his men still have it too, but at the same time, he sees that his army is crumbling, and starving. And he wonders what God's intentions are! Okay, if you are at all intrigued by the Civil War or history in general, add this baby to your cart, wait for it to arrive, and read like fury! You won't be able to put it down!

Summary: Excellent Read
Review: Jeff Shaara out did himself on this novel. The perspective he provides on the players in the final moments of the War is truly amazing. He is able to bring a human face to Lee and Grant and bring you into their thought processes, pride, and feelings. Not only does he put a face on the upper echelon of the armies of Lee and Grant but he also provides a perspective from the front lines and the officers charged to command those troops.

I would recommend this book to anyone, especially a younger individual. These men were men of courage and honor, their actions should be learned and studied.
