Summary: Good read!
Review: I've read all of Lee Child's books now and Echo Burning was quite a book! For me, it started slowly and I had to really believe that something good was coming down the pike. While Carmen and Reacher were driving along in the car was very boring to me but as I stayed with it. Then when Reacher was taken into a bar by the ranch hands I began to sit up straight and pay attention. Reacher is over the top and such fun to read! The fight in the desert is wild. The description of the Texas heat is right on and you get thirsty just reading about it. Toward the end, it dragged on and out a bit but I certainly will read the next book about Jack Reacher as soon as it comes out. Worth my time!

Summary: My first Jack Reacher adventure.
Review: I certainly like the writing style of Lee Child, and even most of the plot, but something about this story falls flat. I haven't read the series, and maybe that is why I found the character of Jack Reacher just too omnipotent and unbelievable. Jack Reacher came across to me as highly unlikable, arrogant, full of himself, and without any depth of human emotion. It's my idea that if you are going to create a character like that, just use a robot, it will make the story more understandable. But the descriptions of Texas were brilliant, they made me thirsty! And the tangled webs weaved were intriguing enough to get me to finish the story. With a little more heart, this story could make a five star tale.

Review: ECHO BURNING is my favorite Jack Reacher novel yet. As usual, Lee Child made the characters interesting and the story so suspenseful that I couldn't put it down. He is a great story teller who has made his way up to being one of my favorite authors. I can't wait until the next one comes out. In my opinion this book is a MUST READ!

Summary: Macho De Macho
Review: Jack Reacher has it all, He can pump himself up with a few gasps and tightenings of muscle and find enemys by "Thinking them". All aside what a enjoyable read. He has explained Texas better that anyone I have ever read. As a singer Mac Davis once said nothing better than Lubbock in my rear view mirror and he was from Texas. The heat comes through the words. The plotting is great and keeps you thinking until the end. Quite a accomplishment for a Englishman to write. Will read all he has soon.

Summary: This Series Leaking Like A Balloon Now.
Review: I've read all of this Jack Reacher's series and this is by far the worst one that Lee Child had written. I've lost one miserable night trying to finish it but failed. Since Reacher could stop a .38 bullet with his muscle, I've found that the writer has been gradually ridiculed the story and the hero of this series into a more superfluous and shallow creation. I've tolerated the story in his first 'Killing Floor' as bleaching out tons of our U.S. paper money, since Jack Reacher was created as such a lovable character. But this series now looks like more a leaking balloon than a rising star. I've found this 'Echo Buring' very contrite and dragging, the dialogue very pretentious and unrealistic, the characters less colorful, the plot more tedious and cliche, the background more barren. It seems to me that the writer was trying to create a scenario with characters blended with 'Mad Max,' 'Cool Hand Luke,' 'Bullet,' 'Casa Blanca,' 'The Last Train to Gunhill,' 'Shane,' etc.,etc, but failed miserablly. A totally disappointment and, I've promised myself that I'd never wasted another night-even another minute-to read this series.

Summary: Echo Burning
Review: I love this author, and am so happy that I chanced upon him. Echo Burning is a very satisfying read which keeps you guessing till the end. I cared about his characters. The plot of this book was not as complex as his others, but it was just as good. Lee Child is a great storyteller, and never fails to keep me interested, so much so that I find it hard to put his books down. The very first page of this novel surprised me not once, but twice. The story is unpredictable, and that's what keeps you turning the pages.

Summary: Went a little too far
Review: Lee Child is a wonderful writer, but frequently he tries too hard to create the "perfect character" or the "perfect twist" to his plots. "ECHO BURNING" is a good example of a book that over-reaches itself. The characters are too heavily drawn, the plot is convoluted, and the details just don't quite ring true. Jack Reacher is a good, solid character, but he can't possibly be the "super-hero" that he is written as. Lee Child's grasp of the military as a way of life and as a career leaves something to be desired. There are gaps and false notes from time to time. The plot is way too far-fetched to be believable but it does hold the reader's interest. Child's treatment of the story and the characters in "ECHO BURNING" makes for a good read and I can honestly say that I enjoyed this book and will defitely read the next one.

Summary: "Blistering" good read!
Review: I am a fan of this series and this book did not disappoint. The description of the hot, dry Texas landscape made me feel "parched" as I read the entire book. It isn't my favorite in the series, but the character of Jack Reacher is terrific. I can't wait for more.

Summary: On The Road Again
Review: Jack Reacher is on the road again. This time in southern Texas where the heat bakes things dry. One wonders hows he survives with his paucity of belongings,especially in this clime.This is a convoluted,twisted story with plots and sub-plots leading the reader in different directions throughout the book. Who is good and who is evil? What is the truth and what are the lies? Reacher manages to almost single-handedly take on all the "bad guys",determining their actions in advance,and outsmarting them with the upper hand. He, then, slowly fades away after things are resolved. This is an excellent,fast-paced,book that will leave you wondering how Reacher will extricate himself from each situation he becomes entrenched in. Somehow, you know he always will, as Reacher is almost synonymous with Superman. I did not like this book as well as some of his others; perhaps it was due to the tediously dreary locale, or the fact that, other than Carmen,her daughter Ellie and Alice,all of the characters were completely dislikable. Nevertheless,it is a good read and a must for all Jack Reacher followers.

Summary: On the road again
Review: Reacher is back on the road and the series is much better off. Great action sequences are separated by good scenes and detail, that never the less, cry out for some editing. Reacher is tough enough, the writing needs to get leaner. Great atmosphere, you'll burn under the Texas sun. Keep 'em coming.
