Review: I really enjoyed this book because I was vacationing in Florida and read it on the beach. I was tempted to throw a bottle with a message in the Atlantic. I usually don't go for depressing stories, but this one was enjoyable because of the characters and theme. It even convinced me to read the Notebook which I had avoided because of listening to everyone who had read it and cried through it. Don't miss this one! Read it today.

Review: This was one of the best books I have ever read!!! It is a heartwarming bittersweet love story that leaves you begging for more. Nicholas Sparks's writing will have you laughing and crying at the same time. I dare you to read only the first chapter and not want to savor the rest. Truly a great story!!!!

Review: I have read both of Mr. Sparks books, and I LOVE them both! His writing style is so easy to read and very colorful! I just get sucked into the story, and I can't put the book down! Keep your tissues close by, I shed a few tears for both books. Now if I could only find a man like the characters in his books...sigh...

Summary: What a big disappointment!
Review: Having read and enjoyed "The Notebook," I looked forward to Sparks' latest with great anticipation. "Message" was a total waste of time! Shallow and sappy, it earns a place in the Robert Waller "Hall of Romantic Fluff." Garrett Blake was a spineless, pathetic character who failed to solicit any sympathy from me. Theresa was the quintessential, manipulative woman. It's no wonder Garrett drowned himself to get away from her! I will think twice before picking up another book by Nicholas Sparks.

Summary: This is the worst book I've read in along time.
Review: This is the worst book I've read in along time. This is worse than Danelle Steele, althought I've never been a great fan of hers, either. The characters in this book were all very weak and contrived. Pathetic describes it very well. The plot was even worse. Finding Garrett in only in matter of hours??? It also never occurred to Theresa to tell Garrett of her "little secret"?? I have no idea what either character saw in each other. They lived in totally different worlds. I can go on and on why I hated this book. Give me some likeable, respectable characters and a plot with some connection to reality!

Summary: Second only to The Notebook!
Review: Sparks did a great job with his follow-up to The Notebook. This is a man that can really express his feelings and are felt so deeply that you are emotionally drained when you finish the book. I cna only find one fault and that is that I need to allow time between Sparks' books due to the endings. They really get to me and I'll talk about them for days after.

Summary: Appallingly Pathetic
Review: I read The Notebook and thought it was a sweet little book. Nothing incredibly special, but I liked it. I read Message In A Bottle looking for that same sweetness. I wanted a nice little rainy day read.To say the least, I did not find it. NICHOLAS SPARKS: Where did you go wrong? What makes you think normal and rational human beings would want to read this drivel, oozing with triteness and commonplace dialogue? Okay, some of you diehard Message In A Bottle fans will shout "It wasn't trite! Look at the ending! That never happens in love stories!" (Don't worry; I'm not planning o revealing the "surprising" ending.) I am aware that that particular ending does not frequently occur, but it was entirely too predictable. On the first page of Chapter One, I immediatly thought "Why did I spend money on this book?" I could easily foretall what was to come. Also,this book preached that the most important thing in life is to find a man, have sex with him and then whine about your relationship to your friends. What kind of people have sex after knowing each other for less than two days? What a fufilling relationship! One entirely based on attraction and sex! Did it ever occur to Theresa that publishing someone else's love letters just MIGHT be morally wrong? Did ever occur to Garrett that if he loved his wife as fervently as Mr. Sparks would lead us to believe, he wouldn't go and sleep with the next pretty woman he found? Did it ever cross Theresa's mind that just maybe she shouldn't intrude on someone else's personal life? If you want to read a real love story, I suggest the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon and of course, Gone With the Wind.

Summary: Not as good as The Notebook
Review: I loved The Notebook so much that I have recommended it to almost everyone I know since I read it. So I was thrilled when I saw that Nicholas Sparks had written another book, but I just finished reading Message in a Bottle last night, and I have to say I was a little disappointed. It just isn't as good as the Notebook. I was disappointed when Theresa published the letter, and even more disgusted that she never revealed to Garrett what made he seek him out in the first place. I just couldn't get myself to care about her at all. She really wasn't a very interesting character, and I couldn't figure out what it was about her that made Garrett love her. Garrett on the other hand was a great character. His devotion to Catherine was so amazing. Although this is only a story, it is nice to think that there are men out there who feel that way about their wives. I also really admired his relationship with his father. If I liked Theresa, I think I would have enjoyed this book a lot more. I haven't given up on Sparks though, I still believe he is a talented writer. I'll be waiting for his next book.

Summary: There is hope for true love and romance
Review: Nicholas Sparks has a unique ability to put the rawest of human emotion into eloquent prose. Message in a Bottle is a story one can not put down. As the story unfolds, you find yourself being drawn deeper and deeper into the story. You begin to feel, and share, the emotions between Theresa and Garrett, as well as their internal conflicts. Sparks has presented the reader with a story that not only has you reaching for the Kleenex, but one that will have you searching your own soul. Is there such a thing as destiny ? Is it possible for two people to meet and instantly fall so deeply in love as Theresa and Garrett ? These are questions many of us don't want to ask ourselves, yet Sparks as given another great story in which you must look into yourself. Don't fool yourself into thinking messages in bottles don't exist ~ they do ! What would you do if you had found that message ? If you are not a romantic at heart, I doubt you will be able to believe that a love like Sparks has created can ever exist. But, if you have just the slightest believe in destiny or fate ~ you MUST read this story. It may inspire you to make some of the hardest decisions ever. So, get comfortable on the couch, with a glass of wine and a box of tissues close by ! And be prepared to be swept away. I very much look forward to the next one.

Summary: one of the best books I have ever read
Review: Nicholas has a way of writing, I first read The Notebook last year and when I saw that he had a new book out, I just couldn't wait to read it. The love story was just wonderful. I loved the people and the way things happened. The ending was especially shocking to me, I was expecting something else. I hope he continues to write. I will always buy his work. Keep up the good work Nicholas.
