Summary: Not Great - Not Bad, just ... Mundane
Review: After reading this book, I have to admit, I found myself thinking this was yet another example of a man writing a romance novel and it getting touted as "literature." Why is it women write books every bit as good -- only with happy endings -- and people call it trash? I don't get it.

I suspect that if this manuscript had had a happy ending, this would have fit nicely in the romance section, which is a compliment, despite peoples' scathing comments about Fabio covers. However, I do have to admit, I found the plot a bit contrived, and the characters almost, but not quite, one dimensional. Also, the dialogue didn't move the story forward nor sound natural in several places. This impeded my enjoyment as it kept popping me out of the story.

Overall, I think my title says it all: not bad, but not great.

Summary: I didn't want it to end.
Review: What a wonderful book. I couldn't put it down. Having been to that area of North Carolina it was like I was there all over again. A truly lovely story, and I think I will probably read it again sometime. If you love a good love story you will love Message in the Bottle.

Summary: I wouldn't and couldn't put it down!
Review: A touching story of love lost and gained through the lives of two distant souls searching for each other. It shows the journey traveled by two loves when destiny places her hand into life. I recommend this book highly!

Summary: Absolutely unpredicitable!
Review: You think love only comes arouand once in your life. When you read this book, you find yourself clinging on every word, waiting for that special moment. The book captured my full attention form cover to cover until the last word was read. I hope Nicholas Sparks keeps his style and sensitivity in any of his upcoming novels. Make sure you invest in a box of kleenex when you read "Message in a Bottle".

Summary: Absolutely breathtaking!!
Review: At first this book was off to a slow start. I found myself fighting to get through the first four chapters. But as I kept going, the book grabbed ahold of me and I couldn't put it down. The book was wonderful and I recommend it to anyone who loves a good romance novel.

Summary: An interesting story that makes N. C. call you home.
Review: Nicholas Sparks has always been a storyteller in his own mind and now he has proven himself to the World. Both of his books, Messege in a Bottle and The Notebook are easy reading and take you away. Not like Uncle Remus but a 90's man writing for his time and favorite places. If you want to be taken away you will enjoy these books.

Summary: Left you kind of dissapointed
Review: After reading the notebook you totally thought it would be just as good. However, the ending was sad in this one---I wished it ended happiy like the notebook. Oh well it was still a really great book. However they definitely should have made a movie out of THE NOTEBOOK rather than MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE.

Summary: I can't believe I wasted my time
Review: This book's dialog made me laugh out loud. I can't believe I spent money on this silly book. The plot is so implausible--I'm a romantic and I didn't even buy this nonsense. I don't think I could recommend this to anyone and call them a friend.

Summary: Just okay
Review: A friend of mine gave me this book and then proceded to tell me the ending of the story. After weeks of her bothering me what I thought of it I finally broke down and read it. I didn't exactly care for it. It wasn't a bad story and I don't know if it had a lot to do with knowing the ending of the book, but it couldn't keep my interest.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Lacks bite
Review: The beginning of this book is good, and the last 20 pages are very good, but what is between the two lacks depth (severely). The dialogue is trite. It will probably be a hit as a movie (But they had better change the ending !)
