Summary: Love depicted in the most passionate way possible.
Review: I can't believe 'The Notebook' and 'Message In A Bottle' were novels written by a man!!! I'm not for a second implying it impossible or improbable of men to write this way... but rather I'm glad to know this is the case. These novels are so tenderly emotive and so incredibly passionate that I am glad to have had the experience of reading them!! I see in previous reviews that some have considered either or both stories weak and unworthy of any acclaim. Well, it takes all types to make this world spin... and so glad am I that I am the same as those who appreciate these novels! I would not like to live like others who wander through this life unable to relate to the very real passions depicted in these books. When are you writing your next book Nicholas Sparks? I'll buy it before I even know the title.

Summary: Ugh. Awful. Insulting.
Review: A terrible book, poorly written with incredibly unlikeable characters. I hear the movie is better, but will not dedicate another $ to Mr. Sparks' cause. The Notebook was enjoyable, but Mr. Sparks must have had only one book in him. 1 star is too many.

Summary: I just loved it!!!
Review: I saw the movie first and I couldn't wait to read the book. When I bought it I thought that I woulndn't cry because I already knew the end; well, I wished... It is impossible not to be touched by Garret's love either for Catherine or Theresa. Both the movie and the book are fantastic. I've already read "The Notebook" and I loved it just as much as "Message". All my friends are now reading "The Notebook" and "Message" and all we can talk about is how much we've cried reading these books. Kevin Costner was perfect for the role of Garret. I hope Nicholas Sparks doesn't stop writing books like these.

Summary: simply wonderful!
Review: i am only 14 years but i have read alot of books for my age, and this one was one of the best. as a person i rearely cry,(even in my personal life) but with this book i did cry! (!!!) it wasn't because i was sad, but because it gave me hope that people like Garet and Tereasa do exist and that maybe someday i will have a chance to meet extraordinery people like them. it's a beautifuly writen book, with a great story, and with much hope in it. the best thing to read on your couch, with a cup of coffee and your favorite music on! (trust me!)...

Summary: the most wonderful story I have ever ever read!!!
Review: This story was sooo touching. I am begging Mr. Sparks to please, please, write a sequel where the main character is still alive...perhaps he was unconscious and drifted to a nearby island. I want a part two movie to be made....please!!!!

Summary: Frightening
Review: It worries me to read the on-line reviews for this book only to find that entry after entry contains some form of: "best book I've ever read." The book felt formulaic to me--like an extended cliche. The language took no risks, the characters never revealed that "breath of life" some authors so beautifully blow into the words and spaces between the words. I was always conscious of turning the pages, and never lost myself in the story. I never felt the power of language. And I write this because beyond this commercialized, assembly-line fiction that we have elevated and given a respect it does not deserve--beyond that is a fiction that defies easy categorization. That retreats from cliche and seeks a new angle, a new perspective on description and dialogue and character. A fiction that comes much closer to the "best book I've ever read" category than this novel by Nicholas Sparks. Message in a Bottle was an easy read. Too easy I thought. And I feel guilty admitting I bought the book and finished reading it.

Summary: A DEFINITE EYE WETTER!!!
Review: I am 13 years old and I absolutely loved this book! It only took me one day to read it. I couldn't even put it down to do my school work! I don't think i will ever read better!! This book was very moving. The ending was rather suprising and sad. I've never cryed that much just from reading a book!!!

Summary: Wonderful book that kept me interested the whole time
Review: This is a great book that you can't put down once you've started it. I cried in the last few chapters because these are people you feel like you know, and this is the first book that has ever touched me in this way. It's a must read!

Summary: A book for all hopeless romantics like myself.
Review: I love to read and even more I love the theater, but when the two get mixed together I usually don't enjoy it. I find that after I've read a book I don't want to watch a movie where they've changed the plot. It ruins it for me, but "Message in a Bottle" was one that I couldn't help falling in love with both the book and movie. I was not even half way through reading the book when I saw the previews for the movie, but I made myself finish reading it before I saw it. Which made me speed up reading real fast. Another thing that I usually can not stand are depressing endings to a movie, but once again "Message in a bottle" was an exception for me. It for once portrayed a more real life example of what true and undying love can do to a person. Not to mention infatuations with a man you've never met who is just so mysteriously attractive that not searching for him seems like a crime. If I had found those messages I sure would have been on the first flight possible. When watching this with my boyfriend we both agreed if one of us died we would react the same as Garret. Such a tragedy would leave me with the same hesitations as Garret who even after meeting a women who was understanding, full of life and beautiful he still couldn't bring himself to let go of the women he wrote to. Although the women brought him new hope and an ability to at least let the idea of loving someone new cross his mind, he still would not have been able to go on with out revolving around the memories of his dead wife. "Message in a Bottle" was a beautiful story of love and infatuation.
