Rating: Summary: Poorly written and insulting to the reader. Review: Nicolas Sparks has made an assumption about his readers: They're starved for romance. Their lives are empty. They don't know good prose when they see it. Three good ingredients to money-making formulaic writing. How insulting. Here's an example: Sparks writes about our lonely heroin's search for the messages' author. He goes into great lengths about how she logs in, keys in the right command to bring up a search engine, types in the place where her man might be, and, here's the best, we get to see an illustration of what comes on screen! All available choices. Don't it make you want to log in and see what that internet is all about?
Rating: Summary: Beautifully written love story with a different ending Review: Just before I read this, I wrote about the catharsis of a good laugh and sometimes a good cry. Well this was the cry that did it! As Garettet went to sea that last time I was fixing dinner. Didn't have to add any salt! I think the book gives hope that love can come along twice in a lifetime, but we need to able to recognize it. Keep writing Mr. Sparks. We in New Bern are very proud of you. I hope to meet you some day. I am disabled but will make the effort on of these times and come to see youu. Also loved the story in last years t.v. Guide.
Rating: Summary: very romance story Review: the book is written in simple english, that is easy to know and the story is very romantic. the love between threase and garrette is pure, they love each other from their heart and they care for the other. to love somebody is not difficult, but nowadays many people are very self center and will not give up their own business or living habit just because of love. garrette willing to give up his memories as well as his shop. he want to be with theresa, itlikes a fairy tales. most women want to have a husband like garrette and this is the success of the writer. but the ending is sorrow and it makes me cry.
Rating: Summary: The preview is better Review: I have to throw my hat into the ring. Overly simplistic, way way too predictable. Everything is so heavily foreshadowed, and badly written. Reading some parts was like listening to fingernails going against the chalkboard. Too bad the basic premise is so good.
Rating: Summary: I LOVED IT!! CAN'T STOP NOW!! Review: I WAS GIVEN THE BOOK TO READ BY MY SISTER AND MOTHER AND I LOVED IT!! IT AMAZES ME HOW DIFFERENT EVERYONE SEES THINGS. I THOUGHT THAT NICK HAD A WAY WITH EXPRESSING HIS FEELINGS AND ALL THE LITTLE TOUCHES THAT HE ADDED TO THE SCENES JUST MAKE ME WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT HIM AS AN AUTHOR. I HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT THE NOTEBOOK AND CAN'T WAIT TO START THAT ONE AND AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEW ONE HE HAS COMING OUT. I MUST SAY THAT I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE MOVIE I SAW LAST NIGHT, I THINK THAT NICHOLAS SHOULD MAKE THEM SHOW IT JUST AS HE HAS IT WRITTEN, SO MUCH WAS LOST THAT I HAD HOPED TO SEE, DON'T LET THEM CHANGE ANYTHING!! THEY CAN'T IMPROVE ON IT, LEAVE IT JUST AS IT IS!
Rating: Summary: the most beautiful book i've ever read Review: The book is absolutely fantastic. It's a very touching love story. With this book I discovered how unhappy are those who never feel such an emotion like the true love. True love!!!! The book made me think about life. How happy are those who have suffered for such a feeling like that one. How unhappy are those one who think they are happy because they have stability and in fact have just a pair of closed eyes and a sleeping heart. I finished the book in 2 days. I just couldn't put it down because it held my interest and my feelings very strongly. I still think of Garret. Nicholas Sparks is very sensitive and have a very noble love inside his self.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable Review: I liked this book. Theresa discovering 3 letters & tracing Garrett so easily seemed a little far fetched but the ending saddened me nonetheless. I rented the movie after finishing the book & found the book to be more entertaining. Good easy summer reading.
Rating: Summary: Best book since The Notebook !!! Review: I love all of Nicholas Sparks' books! He writes in a way that is easy to follow and understand! I also like that his novels are love stories but they are not smutty! I can't wait for the next book!!
Rating: Summary: The worst book I have ever read! Review: People in highschool can write better than Nicholas Sparks! The style was overly-simplistic combined with a far-fetched story. I know, its fiction, but come on, a little bit of the "real-life" element would help. After reading this book I'm even more convinced that men (espeically ones like Sparks) should not be writing romance novels. I thought the book was somewhat sexist, emphasizing sex and looks above all else. There was too much dialogue (which goes along with the simplicity) and not enough character/setting development. I've always considered myself a hopeless romantic, but this is ridiculous.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful story! Emotional and easy to read! Review: I love the writings of Nicholas Sparks, such talented, emotionally driven writing is so hard to find in today's world! I first read The Notebook, the most wondeful story I have EVER read, so when this was released I took my mom's copy, much to her disliking, and I could not put it down! Though some of the story was a little predictable, I was very surprised by the ending! I loved this novel and I strongly reccommend it to anyone with a big heart and a bigger box of Kleenex! Read the book first, then see the movie......
