Summary: Examine the Individual
Review: Richard Paul Evans is a high caliber fiction writer. "A PERFECT DAY" is another stellar novel. I first enjoyed "THE CHRISTMAS BOX MIRACLE" and also liked "THE LOOKING GLASS." This new book ranks at the top of his work. Evans keeps true to his unique and descriptive style of writing while making some interesting and unique additions in the story department.

One plus is the Hollywood facade backdrop Evans creates which he does with great similarity and equal success to Rikki Lee Travolta's "MY FRACTURED LIFE." The plot devices of a life re-examined are perhaps not original but very originally addressed.

Again, it would be easy to compare to Mitch Albom's "THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN" or Travolta's "MY FRACTURED LIFE" but I would personally be hesitant to do so.

Taking nothing away from any other book(s) ("THE CHRISTMAS BOX MIRACLE", "THE LOOKING GLASS", "THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN", and "MY FRACTURED LIFE" are all stellar books), I suggest looking at "A PERFECT DAY" for it's individuality for that is what makes it so great.

Summary: Can't put it down
Review: Richard Paul Evans is an author that either grabs the reader from page one, or turns he/she off completely. I fall into the first category. I was drawn to him from The Christmas Box and found this to be even better.

This simple story of a man who, due to a job loss, takes a risk and goes for his dream, made me stop and take a look at my own life. Was I doing what I felt called to do? Had I sacrificed what I held dear to pursue a dream? Had I caused anyone pain in this endeavor?

While some may dismiss Evans as an idealist whose characters are too wholesome, those who still want to read of moral, thinking people, this is the book for you!

Summary: Delightful modern day cautionary tale
Review: Robert Harlan loves his wife Allyson and their daughter, but detests his job as radio station sales representative. Instead he dreams of one day becoming a writer. When he loses his job, Allyson encourages him to write a book. He authors A PERFECT DAY that focuses in on the final days of the loving relationship between his spouse and her father, dying from cancer.

The book is a monster success and Robert becomes an instant celebrity. He goes on a book tour and is the idol of women wherever he goes. Soon Robert loses sight of what he cherishes most in the world as he is caught up in the glitter and the adulation. His marriage is near collapse when an angel warns Robert that he has forty days to live. Stunned by the revelation, Robert reassesses what is meaningful in his life is to love and be loved. This is what he once had and probably lost, but he plans to die trying to regain the respect and love of his cherished wife and daughter.

This is a delightful modern day cautionary tale focusing on not losing sight of what is important in life. Robert is a great lead protagonist as his metamorphosis from living family member to glamour outsider seems so real. The angel's hep rap may turn off some readers, but that adds to the overall effect. Richard Paul Evans provides a powerful tale with some sugar coating, but no one will come away dry.

Summary: predictable
Review: sometimes corny, lacks depth. unrealistic both before robert became famous and afterward. very light read if you want to pass mindless time. i do not think that this book is the answer for self-reflection. there are better books out there (Mitch Albom) for that.

Summary: Loved the book
Review: That last review sounds like it was written by a frustrated wannabe writer. (a bad one at that) That poor reader doesn't know the difference between foreshadowing and predictability. This book was fabulous and anything but predictable. And, by the way, anyone in Salt Lake City knows that Evans hasn't left his wife. I guess there's one in every bunch but considering that it's the only one-star review of the bunch, guess who's out touch? Read the book, you'll love it.

Summary: One of the worst I've ever read
Review: The saying goes that "there's nothing new under the sun", and this book proves it! Just another overly sentimental story that's been told a million times by much better writers than Richard Paul Evans. Technically, the book is not well written - more on a junior high school level, and repetitive phraseology made for a boring read. The story was sappy, the climax contrived. Character development was lacking, as was motivation for many of Robert's decisions & subsequent actions. The only semi-interesting aspect of the book was the description of an author's book tour. Maybe Evans should end his own book tours to spend more time writing a really good story.

Summary: Won Me Over in 20 Pages
Review: The writing of Richard Paul Evans is fresh and unique. . Evans won me over within the first 20 pages. The similarity to Rikki Lee Travolta's "My Fractured Life" is refreshingly good. Also some similarities to Augusten Burroughs "Sellevision" and "Running With Scissors". "A Perfect Day" manages to be quick witted with off the cuff sly jesting, but have meaning throughout.

Summary: a novel with a good twist at the end!!!
Review: There is something extra special about Richard Paul Evans' novels. This story, while similar in parts to his other book THE CHRISTMAS BOX MIRACLE, is about a man named, Robert - who has always had a dream of writing a book. He loses his job and his dream becomes a reality. Fame and fortune come and changes in his life begin to whirlwind.

A stranger comes to Robert and tells him he has a short time left to live. It is up to Robert how he spends his last days. An unexpected twist occurs toward the end - you'll have to read it to find out!

Summary: The True Meaning of A Perfect Day
Review: This book is extraordinary. It's a must read for the season. This story takes your emotions on a roller-coaster. The charaters are so well developed you feel like you know them personally. This book is not only entertaining but also makes readers put their life in perspective and think about the real things that matter in life. Plan on reading the last half of the book with a box of tissues.

Summary: Grab a box of kleenex.
Review: This book is one of the best books I have read in 2004. I cried and cried throughout! I can't wait to read more by Mr. Evans. This is one you won't be sorry to add to your library.

Rob has the perfect life, but he gets caught up in fame and fortune and loses perspective. He receives awful news and what happens from there will delight you and make you reflect on your own life.

This is a book not to be forgotten!
