Rating: Summary: Very Enjoyable Review: I actually started this book thinking that it wouldn't be that great. I had to read it for a book club. I was pleasantly surprised and have already checked the library for the other books that Evans has written.Read it and you will also be pleasantly surprised, too!
Rating: Summary: Simply Amazing, An inspiration Review: I am a person that doesn't like to read very much in school. One day I looked around in my local bookstore and found a book that I thought would be interesting. We are required to rad at least 250 pages of a book and then summarize it, any extra pages is extra credit. So I read all 280 pages of this book and I must say that it made me actually like reading. I felt like this was a book that I could understand so well and relate to in a way. I enjoyed this book so much that for my next book I began The last Promise but I never finished it because it was due and I maxed my time of renewing it. I loved the suspense that this book got me, suspense in a romantic way, that even after not finishing the book, I want to pick it up again. This book is now on my wishlist. This author inspired me to try and like reading. And now, I do
Rating: Summary: Richard has done it again!!! Review: I am moved. This book was truely inspirational. If you are searching for a message to share with your loved ones, A Perfect Day is your answer. Thank you Richard for sharing this eye opening message!
Rating: Summary: Not worth your time or money! Review: I am writing to warn others about the total predictibility and cheesiness of this book. I read it for a book club and was totally disappointed. I hardly got to know the characters and I never really cared about what happened to them. I refuse to read any more of this author's books - I wish I could get a refund for the time and money I wasted on this one!
Rating: Summary: Best gift I received Review: I couldn't put this book down just like when I read The Christmas Box. Richard Paul Evans' characters are easy to relate too and puts things in perspective. Many of us get caught up in our careers and forget about what truly matters. Evans does a superb job with this book. I read it three days and didn't want it to end. A great gift for anyone.
Rating: Summary: Another Wonderful novel! Review: I have a new favorite! A Perfect Day was a wonderful story. Its filled with values and made me realize what really matters in life. I couldn't put it down. I would have never guessed how it would end. Totally surprised me!
Rating: Summary: Not his best Review: I have been a big fan of Richard Paul Evans. I enjoyed all his books but this one. I don't feel as if I got to know the characters well enough to find them likeable or even care what happened to them. The story is about a man who is at a job he does not really like and then is laid off and he decides to finaly finish a book he had been working on. Because of the success of the book he suddenly has no time for his wife and daughter and leaves them only to be told by an "angel" that his life will end at the new year. Now he realizes how lucky he was and goes about trying to win back his wife even though he knows he cannot change his fate. I really really did not like the main character. I was not given enough information about his childhood or past to understand why he was so insecure. This story felt like it was slapped together in a very clumsy half hearted way. I almost didn't finish it but being a fan of The Locket and The Christmas box I was hoping for something to make this book. Nothing did.
Rating: Summary: More than just a book Review: I have read all of Richard Paul Evans' books and I have discovered that his books are more than just stories. His books, as with A Perfect Day, bring home to me an entirely new way of thinking. A Perfect Day did just that. It made me want to find that "perfect day" or to make every day "a perfect day." I love that about Mr. Evans' books. This one is compelling, entertaining, heart-rending, but, as always uplifting. I had to read it until I was finished. Thank you again, Richard, for a wonderful read. Keep 'em coming.
Rating: Summary: A must read for all couples Review: I loved this book from beginning to end. The ending was fascinating and surprising. Every married couple should read this insightful novel. It will make them cherish their relationship with each other and their children. And it's not just for marrieds, everyone will find his or her heart softened by this tender love story. It's healing for all family relationships. We'll be recommending it at our marriage retreats. Thanks, Richard, for a great book!
Rating: Summary: A delight to read - but grab the tissues! Review: I read A Perfect Day, in one afternoon - and cried about 5 times throughout the novel. Some people have indicated in their reviews that this novel is too soppy - and too happy, but I tend to disagree. Every now and then every one of us needs something to make us remember what we have and how easy it is to lose everything that is important to us.
A Perfect Day is a story of an ordinary man's flight to fame, and fight to retain that which is dear to him, having published a New York Times Bestseller. Based on the story of his loving wife's relationship with her dying father, the book (entitled A Perfect Day also) is loved by all who read it. Unfortunately, fame and fortune quickly overwhelm Robert Harlan, forcing him to lose sight of the things that really make him happy. His simple life with soul mate Allyson, and daughter Carson disolve around him - leaving him rich, famous...but alone.
Without giving too much away, Robert meets a stranger who advises him that he has only until New Years Day to live. It is with this knowledge that Robert does what he knows in his heart is right.
A Perfect Day is a novel of forgiveness, family, and the overwhelming power of love. A must read for anyone who enjoyed 'The Five People You Meet in Heaven' .
