Summary: Trendy and pathetic
Review: How sad that a successful, well-liked, talented, beautiful woman presents the ultimate goal in life as going from being controlled by those who harmed her in youth to being controlled by a trainer! The reviewer who stated "you can't lose weight if youn eat like a pig" has a contemptible view of those overweight, but that is to be expected when Oprah places such stress on what is a totally invalid viewpoint - but, for her, a most profitable venture.

Summary: Very motivational, Easy reading, good for the spirit.
Review: I really enjoyed reading this book and learning more about my body. I can relate to alot of things that were said in the book. About gaining control of your life. If you can't control what goes into your body and how it looks, how can you control anything else in your life. I suggest this be read by anyone who needs to take control. It's not just a weight thing but it seems to come out that way alot. Thanks for sharing your life to help others.

Summary: I felt that the book was very inspirational and realistic.
Review: Oprah does not sugar coat anything. While reading her book you experience her ups and downs. She does not make it sound like her weight loss was just an overnight success story. I have a weight problem and I found that I was reading my own story when I read Oprah's. I would highly recommend her book.

Summary: Helped with my binge eating disorder
Review: Bravo! This book is the first book I've read that gives you a step by step, detailed program to live by. No diets, no 'plans'. Proof that it works, is simply looking at Oprah herself. I have a binge eating disorder, and diets have only made it worse. I read this book in one day, and began the steps. While I haven't lost a lot of weight, I have not gained any in 5 months. This is a first for me! The companion video is an excellent prelude to view before reading the book. I would recommend this book to ANYONE who has stuggled with a weight problem. Thanks Bob and Oprah, you changed my life.

Summary: Outstanding book for better health
Review: Being a RN, I have studied many nutrition and weight related issues. This book takes you a step beyond and sets you free from diets forever. It focuses on a healthy lifestyle and helps you realize the power that is within you. After I read this book, I started applying it to my life. I have accepted that you do not need to master each step immediately. It is not a diet. I have lost weight without trying to diet, but by following the steps the best I can and by changing my lifestyle little by little. Thank you Oprah for your candidness and to Bob for your professional guidance.

Summary: I'm making the connection!
Review: For years I've struggled with my weight but now I feel I've found the answer! Oprah and Bob Greene's book is THE BEST! It's still a struggle day by day but now I know the best way to go about things and how to approach it, rather than being on diet after diet, year after year! My son has special needs and has been ill all over Christmas. I find I comfort eat when there are difficulties but writing it all down in my journal does really help! I too hate the water still and have to "force" it down, but force it down I do and I hope to reap the benefits soon. I've only just started my connection but I can "feel" this is the answer and can't wait for the coming months and for my lovely slim strong body to be set free from under all this gross clinging fat! Here's to Oprah and Bob - a million thanks!

Summary: This is the only book that tells it like it is!
Review: I like this book because of its honesty. Basically the message is (in my words) YOU CAN'T EXPECT TO LOSE WEIGHT IF YOU DON'T EXERCISE AND YOU EAT LIKE A PIG! There are no quick, miracle diets, and starvation is a formula for disaster. Don't buy this book if all you want is for someone to tell you it's ok to eat whatever you want and that you only need to exercise for 10 minutes every other day. Send me the money that you would spend on a book like that. The results will be the same. If you really are serious about losing weight, and the necessary lifestyle change that it requires, then buy the book. As Oprah says: "It's not about dieting, it's about changing your life."

Summary: Oprah has been there!
Review: Oprah Winfrey's book "Make the Connection" with Bob Greene was an insightful look into not just the physical aspects of losing weight the right way, but the problems that people don't usually even recognize that are causing weight gain in the first place. Oprah's lifetime struggle with her weight problem and her own special way of describing her thoughts and experiences make the book an easy and entertaining one to relate to. Her strength in her convictions to lose weight and then to keep it off are infectious. Bob Greene makes an impression too with his knowledge of physical education, nutrition and his history of working with many other people with their weight loss stuggles. This one is definitely on the top of the list when it comes to a weight loss book that you will remember and want to apply to your life
