Summary: THE BOOK IS EXCELLENT, BUT A LITTLE STRICT.
Review: I LOVE OPRAH AND I'VE STRUGGLED WITH WEIGHT ALL MY LIFE. EXERCISE IS THE ONLY WAY THAT I FEEL BETTER AND KEEP MY WEIGHT DOWN. I ALSO LOVE OPRAH BECAUSE SHE IS A REAL PERSON. I'M SORRY TO SEE HER STRUGGLING AGAIN WITH HER WEIGHT. IT SHOWS YOU THAT MONEY DOSEN'T BUY EVERYTHING! TO COMMENT MORE ON THE BOOK. FROM THE INSTRUCTORS POINT OF VIEW I UNDERSATND WHY YOU MUST EXERCISE AT LEAST 6 DAYS A WEEK IN THE ZONE, BUT I THINK PEOPLE JUST STARTING OUT MAYBE INTIMIDATED BY THIS. I LEARNED ONE THING START SLOW AND MAKE IT GROW. I STARTED A SERIOUS EXERCISE PROGRAM LAST YEAR AND I LOST 20LBS AND LOTS OF INCHES. I DIDN'T OVERWHELM MYSELF. I STARTED DIETING ABOUT 2MONTHS INTO THE EXERCISE. SO I FEEL IT'S ONE STEP AT A TIME. I STILL FEEL I COULD FALL BACK AS OPRAH DID! IT'S NOT EASY. Summary: The best diet & fitness book I have ever read.
Review: I can't say enough good things about this book! I have read it at least 5 times cover to cover and pick it up whenever I feel my motivation flagging. The exercise tip to exercise at 70 - 80% of your maximum heart rate was a real eye opener. I was actually working out too hard, and had to slow down to get the results. If fitness and overall health are your main reasons for wanting to lose weight - BUY THIS BOOK!

Summary: Inspiring!
Review: Opray's right, some days are harder than others. But you do the best you can, everyday. It doesn't matter if you have 20 or 80 pounds to lose, Bob Greene and Oprah do an excellent job at teaching you to re-behave. I've learned to break some bad habits. I'm motivated again. Oprah lost over 70 pounds, I can lose 20. Don't lose faith, listen carefully you'll notice a change in your thought pattern in a week. Listen to the tape on your way to work. I work out for 20 minutes during my lunch hour at the local YMCA. I have plenty of time to shower and be back in an hour. You can too. The tapes convinced me I CAN.

Review: I like the way Bob Greene gives you the step by step aides. He and Oprah did such a wonderful job motivating people to learn how to eat and what to eat. I am much like Oprah I eat when I am stressed the Journal idea helps me see when I am eating and why. THANKS

Summary: This book will change your life!
Review: "Make the Connection" is an incredible book, not just because of Oprah's inspirational story, but because her trainer, Bob Greene, helps you to understand exactly how your body works and WHY DIETS DON'T WORK!! In fact, if you want to lose weight, you HAVE TO EAT (sensibly) and this book tells you how and why! As Bob explains, the key is understanding your metabolism and the role regular exercise plays in increasing your metabolism and KEEPING it increased. Our bodies NEED FOOD the way a car needs gas in order to perform effectively. Bob tells it like it is, sometimes harshly, and makes it clear that you're going to have to work hard, sweat and be disciplined - but you can still eat and it really works! You have to think of your body like it's a machine - and you want to keep that machine fine-tuned, oiled and full of premium gasoline, otherwise it won't run properly!! I'm in my 30s and was not much more than 10 pounds overweight, but I felt bloated, sluggish, had lost muscle tone and generally felt depressed about myself compared to how I used to look and feel when I was in my 20s. To lose weight, I would deprive myself of food, feel sick from headaches and the shakes when I didn't eat, and then end up bingeing and feel even worse. I could barely make myself exercise more than once a week. Well, this book not only helped me lose the extra pounds, but all my other symptoms have disappeared! I now have great muscle tone, feel energetic and positive, rarely feel bloated (except from all that water you have to drink!) and I look and feel better than I did in my 20s! I feel fantastic and I also sleep so much better!! The quality of sleep now is unbelievable!! "Make the Connection" changes your whole outlook on life and feelings about yourself and food. I LIKE TO EAT and, when you follow Bob's 10 steps, you can eat and still lose weight. It's a win-win situation!! All you have to have is the discipline to stick with it. Some days you fall off the wagon, but you just have to get right back on!! Whether you want to lose a little weight or a lot, or just want to tone up and feel more alive, this book can help you do it!!

Summary: It Works!! Follow the Ten Steps and you see results...
Review: Buying the book was the hard part...following the steps were easy! Bob Greene & Oprah Winfrey gave me the answers I needed to "Make The Connection" in my own life. I exercise regularly, drink ALL my water (I hate water), keep a journal, count my fat grams keeping it below 30g per day and best of all I FEEL GREAT. Thank you Bob Greene and Oprah Winfrey.

Summary: A Life Saver!!!!!!!!
Review: Make the connection contains all the information you need to live a healthy lifestyle! It includes the struggles we face when we try to lose weight and the 10 steps that are needed to lose weight and become fit. I have not read a book that has been more effective than this one! Make The Connection has been a lifesaver for me because I have lost over 100lbs. I love it!!! Thank you Bob and Oprah for sharing what I have been trying to find in years....a healthy lifestyle and a body I love!

Summary: This book is helpful, but I found it a bit discouraging
Review: I liked this book enough to read it a couple of times and copy some of the principles into my journal (I keep a different kind), but I also kind of thought it was discouraging, because sometimes I believe I could do what Oprah does IF I could afford a full-time personal trainer and cook too!
