Summary: An amazing piece of work!
Review: After reading this book for a school requirement, I came away with an increidble perspective of small town southern life. It kept my attention most of the time, and you could distinctly hear the vioce of Will Tweedy's narration. I enjoyed the book throughly.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A very enjoyable read!
Review: I started this book over a year ago and was put off by the strong southern slang and the prim and proper 'southern belles'. I stopped after the first couple pages and sent the book to my mom. She liked it so well that I gave it another shot and this time had a hard time putting the book down! I enjoyed getting caught up in this easy reading sad and funny story told through the eyes of a likeable young teenage boy. I'm anxious to read the sequel and hope it's as good as this was.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I also read this in school and liked it.
Review: This book grabbed my attention almost from the start. The end of every chapter leaves you eager to read on. There's action and humor - lots of it. It's an easy book to read. Almost anyone can find something to like about it. Burns wrote an excellent novel here. I recomend it to anyone looking for a good book or has a choice on a school reading list like I did.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: I found this book to be terrible.
Review: I found the plot of this book drab and just plain boring. The writing was at the most amaturistic. The author didnt do very well in developing the story.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Well, I read it for school and LIKED it!
Review: It's very well written. I stumbled with the language/dialect of the South, even though I can speak fluent Kentucky. Will Tweedy has a personality that you might expect to encounter in any of the local boys, and this is a wonderful insight into a teenager's head; Miss Burns seems to have remembered just what it was like! It's also very descriptive as far as the emotions people feel, the scenes like an old woman trying desperately to see what's happening when an old lover kisses a married woman; the gossip flying around town when a lively old widower remarries with his wife not three weeks in the grave; a fourteen year-old boy's first passionate kiss. This book was never slow, even though I was required to read it; I ended up unable to put it down!

Summary: It was a very interesting book that I couldn't put down!
Review: I enjoyed reading this book because it shows some of the problems that are still happening today in our society. It also shows that gossip can be a very powerful source of demise of many people because of what is said. The people that say such things in this book should be aware of what it does to the families of the people that is being gossiped about. Overall it was a very good book in the fact that it shows how a boy becomes a young man and a old man finally expresses his feeling so that everyone may see. I couldn't put it down!!!

Summary: This book was very interesting
Review: "Cold Sassy Tree" is a very interesting book that I would recommend to anyone of any age. I thought that it was above average and could be read by anybody above thirteen. It portrayed the life styles of the people in the turn of the century very well. I liked the way it explained the situations that the different characters were put in, and how they all handled things very differently. The society in which they lived was also very realistic for the early 1900's. My favorite character was Miss Love. She handled her difficult situation of being in love with an older man and being accepted by his entire family very well. She never tried to seek revenge on anyone who thought what she was doing was wrong. She is a very strong woman with a good heart.

Summary: Interesting but didn't grab my attention.
Review: I am the kind of person who likes the kinds of books that grab my attention. "Cold Sassy Tree" didn't effect me and keep me reading it. The reviews that I read were all good, but I felt that it just doesn't pick up the reader. I did end up finishing the book, but I was not at all satisfied. The ending was ok, but I like dramatic better. "To Kill a Mockingbird" is a much better put together book. In conclusion, only read "Cold Sassy Tree" if you like the slow moving kind of books.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Very strange
Review: this book is like "to kill a mockingbird." i could hardly understand the book because of the way that they were talking in it. but it would be a good book to read to little kids.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A GOOD BOOK THAT CATCHES YOUR ATTENTION
Review: Cold Sassy Tree is an excellent book about lifestyles and customs during the turn of the century. The book was very good due to the apparentness of the times they were in and the It deals with life changes between a teenager, his family, and his grandpa. The story deals how this family changes, grows and deals with thier problems. This book is one of the best books I have read, but since it's not a science fiction, my favorite, I can't give it a 10.
